A family member recently had a problem with fraudsters involving a few different banks, and have to say Monzo stood head and shoulders above the others - popular high street banks - in regards to the speed, efficiency and efficacy of their response. Credit where credit’s due (pardon the pun), from our experience thus far Monzo can only be praised.

MONZO ARE FREEZING ACCOUNTS DUE TO BREXIT If you have European connections, please beware. They are freezing accounts and not allowing clients to talk with compliance. Faceless and Unaccountable. THEY Will freeze your account for no reason and no communication. They hide behind specialists. They do not adhere to Data Protection laws. AVOID I am taking them to the small claims court. I was a victim of online fraud. I contacted monzo, showed them all of the evidence to show how it happened, why i fell victim and was certain with such concrete evidence that they'll reimburse me, they refused twice! What made it even worse - the fraud account was a MONZO ACCOUNT. The least they could have done was reimburse me for the fact that it was their service user who frauded me! No accountability at all. This person is making thousands by Monzo and here i am cant even get reimbursed £166.50!!!! Whilst every other bank has policies in place to protect their service users and will reimburse you, monzo have failed miserably. They cant even adhere to the voluntary code of practice. Whats the point in banking with someone if you aren't protected when it comes to these types of situations?! i've referred it to the financial ombudsmen authority, withdrawing my money and moving to STARLING. At least i know they'll take care of me! DO NOT BANK WITH MONZO. Not worth the hassle and lack of support.

This was the best bank I used for everything. 2 hours ago I got a notification staying my account was being closed and they can't tell me why. I tried phoning up to see if there was just a mistake and the automated call said that my account was frozen and they can't help me right now. 1 day before I get paid. 2-4 weeks to return my money to another account. I should've listed to everyone else when they said go with a high street bank.

I foolishly fell for a scam online and compromised my card details. The following day - ON A SATURDAY I received my new card. Fantastic service. I absolutely love this bank. 1 star off as I'm a little disappointed that you have to pay £50 if you want to replace your platinum metal card though. I've replaced it with the coral orange one instead as it was free.

This Bank, freeze accounts for no reason. They have no communication skills and fob off clients. There is a Facebook group Monzo Stole our Money. Over 400 people have reported them to FSA. AVOID THIS BANK. I am taking them to the small claims court.

Used for 2 years without issue and then randomly at start of year account was frozen for 2 weeks. No communication as to why. Chatting to support - “our specialists are investigating”. I then complained and received an outcome after 3 weeks of being denied access to my funds that Monzo had taken the “commercial decision” to close my account. Fine I said. Give me my funds. I now have to wait a further 4 weeks to have my funds returned to me. A total of 7 weeks with no access to my money with no given reason. Appalling

2 times money have been taken out of my account unauthorized and Monzo has not been able to back me up. they keep on authorizing payment I have not done. They had fail to protect me and take ownership of their own failures on their system. The only option they had gave me is to wait block my card my money and ignore me. I had explain that is the end of month and the money that got taken is money that is key for me to survive till end of month. I explained them this is the only card i have and that if they block it I cant even go and get lunch or come back home as i have no money. This is not my mistake still the agents have ignored me and just replied with automatic messages that don't take you anywhere to solve this, I have talk to 5-6 different people and taken my time to explain each one of them the issue and all of them cant solve anything no-one has the power to do nothing they just send you to another again or another automatic message. MONZO WILL NOT SUPPORT YOU I'm here now dumped by there agents have not had lunch still waiting to be acknowledge and is they don't reply and sort this out today I wont be able to go back home and my rent needs to be payed tomorrow. I have explained this to the agents several times no-one can help another automatic message and send me directly straight to hell. I would not recommend this Bank there are a lot of other better option. Monzo is cool until someone scammers you and then you meet the Monzo team absolutely useless they don't care what happens or what your situation is they will come back to you when they can and in the mind time they solve everything out with automatics messages. I'm absolutely disgusted how i been treated. careful if you thinking on joining MONZO

They have also closed my daughters account, with out informing her. This has set her back because this is the account her wages go in. I have decided to write a complaint to monza. I had a Monzo account and did a switch to Barclays. Monzo said if I ever want to return them contact them. I applied and spoke to customer service today and they said they were not going to give me a bank account. So my feedback is 1 star just because of how I feel they have unfairly treated me.

I was a victim of fraud yesterday, i texted them ASAP that i'm a victim of fraud via my banking app and they froze my account within 30 seconds and assured me i was now safe (thankfully, i never lost my money cus they responded fast). I then explained to them what had happened, without hesitation they offered me a replacement card for free including free shipping, to my address and guess what? the App says i'll recieve it within 5-9 working days but i actually recieved it within 24hrs. Thank you guys so much! Monzo is my main banking option and i have always loved their service, moreover, i feel safer using monzo than any other banking services. Thank you Jesicca, the fast respondant that helped block my account and stay with me till i have ordered a replacement card. Blessings.

This is the worst bank ever dont open an account with them they ve closed my account cuz I've recieved my wages. Is ridiculous and is gonna take 2 to 4 week to give me back my money. After having an issue with them I decided to give a one star rating, after a few days I have been contacted by them and they apologized for the way the customer care worker has approached my situation, where instead of trying to help me, the customer support was only trying to make me admit that I have gave information to a fraudulent website and that it was my fault. They apologized for that, in the end they refunded me and also gave me a 25£ credit gift. Thanks monzo.

Monzo have stolen £1000s off me, I had a bad injury and my claim was paid and they stole everything, do not use, I have sent all the proof where the money came from and just get fobbed off saying are specialist are looking into it. DO NOT USE THIS BANK BE WARNED I really hope they go busy and lose everything like ot of others have who bank with them. Monzo bank is a fraud. Dont bank with them. They will hold your money for 30days after your merchant refunds your money. They app does not allow you to dispute transaction until after 14days following which you have to wait another 7 days for the dispute to be resolved. In this instance, the merchant informed me that they have refunded my money but Monzo said they are holding the money for 30 days. 30 DAYS!!! Without paying interest. How many customers do they hold their money for 30 days. Wow. What a scam. That is fraud. Please don't bank with monzo.

I would put 0 stars if there would me an option available. The last month I had the worse experience in my life. They don’t know how to cancel the case, blame PayPal, when mistakes were done on their side. I couldn’t get the refund from the company, because they neglected their job. They put me in unarranged overdraft, because they don’t care about their customer. They charged me for the service I canceled and never used. It is unbelievable. I will never use this bank again! Also, I do not recommend to use it to anybody.

Been with monzo from the start and never had an issue. I get paid a day early by using them and I can see outgoings and incomes days before they happen. Its the most reliable bank I've ever been with and has the number 1 spot according to the fca as the bank with the best customer service. Try it, you'll love the instant transaction feed.

Closed my accounts and kept all money , it's Been nearly two months since this has happened and they have given me no reason why and keep repeating the same lame response with no information, we have contacted the ombudsman and Martin Lewis, they left me and my wife with no money for our new born baby and to live in a time when we can't work with no proper communication along the way! Awful and absolutely disgusting

I have never had such an unfortunate experience with a bank. Received a message saying they have decided to close my account plus my joint account with my partner. Haven't specified why and when asked say they cannot say why. Now I see that my funds are frozen and I am reliant on them sending my money to another account, again with no clear timescale. Disgrace!

I had some issues regarding my address since I'm an international student and emailed Monzo regarding the issue. They replied back saying it was alright and to apply again since they made a mistake initially. I reapplied again and they've blocked me. So what went wrong? There's a lot of information I can't disclose since it's personal, but just know if you're opening a bank here - there are a lot more banks that are better if not the same as Monzo. Trust me I did my research. Did a mistake applying here under the recommendation of my peers. Thankful Monzo blocked me though.

I cannot open a business account with them, even thought I fit the criteria, there is no explanation at all. I have just registered the company, so maybe it's that? but because they're so lazy they give no indication of what the reason might be. So i will close my current account with them. Timewasters.

Monzo froze my dads account, he was terminally ill with cancer and tried in vain to access his funds to pay his private medical bill, unfortunately Monzo refused to release his money, he died 2 weeks into the process as the stress was too much for him to handle. Guys do your selves a favour, do not bank with Monzo. They will eventually close your account with out reason!

Initially I was pleased with my monzo current account; Easy to switch money to others, bill sharing, using abroad. I also liked the option of " rounding up " the purchase price..with the extra coppers building up on a separate pot. However, I recently noticed a double charge and queried this with monzo. I had to raise a query, also with the merchant, as monzo could not be bothered to do so. The merchant confirmed, very swiftly, that they did not have the additional payment...also they told me that this happens a lot with monzo. Monzo returned the payment with no explanation or apology. Had I not spotted it, they would have got away with it...and if they do this to enough of their customers, it is quote a nice revenue stream for them. They won't be doing it to me again...I'm off fo find a new bank..hopefully one with better standards and an understanding of the concept of customer service.

I have had on going problems with Monzo with with regards a possible fraud and a refund. They bonce me from one department to another saying the other will help me. I am out of pocket for £185.00 apparently i have to wait 3 months and then there is no guarantee!!!!.... They have asked me for information that they know i cannot get as the company i have bought from do not reply to my emails. My advice would be do not use Monzo for your main bank account ok for using with Apple Pay for a takeaway or other small purchases.,but do not use for anything else...they are not a bank but a pre-paid card pretending to be a bank.

Getting worried about Monzo after reading reviews about accounts being frozen for no reason.. I have a lot of money in my monzo account. So far I like the account because of the easy access BUT they do not understand how business accounts work. The customer service is text only and they respond typically within the hour which is good in these times. I may move my savings out because I can't afford to have such a lot of money frozen for any length of time for no reason. Forewarned is forearmed etc. Just testing these new types of accounts and there are some caveats to consider if you completely switch.

On the 7th Apr 2020 I made a purchase, unwilling knowing that I was going to be dupted. I contacted Monzo to dispute this transaction and believed to simple and straight forward as my main account provider HSBC. Monzo informed me via their message service that it takes 3 months to handle every dispute which displeased me as this was all new but I accepted. Now fast forward and Monzo have pushed back my resolve date and I've been informed that this dispute will now be finalised by the end of October! As I stated Monzo they're a bunch of clowns???? in suits as the company that duped me for the payment is on a Watchdog list for fraudulent activities.

Monzo seems very nice to put your money and pay anywhere. The big issue is if you need any support from them. I moved to London and Monzo is my only account here (not for long) and I had my card blocked and nobody to talk to. The message informed it would have attendants in the next day 7 AM. It is almost 11AM and nobody answers me. Now I am afraid of keeping money there since I dont know what could happen to my money. Really sad it.
