Usually I don't have a problem with metro bank and the staff. The last two separate occasions I visited I was treated with such disrespect and bad attitude from Iris. Such an attitude problem and she is even willing to stand in the middle of the store to shout about HER issues, also walking away needing to have the last word not very professional. So shocked at such disgusting behaviour that I will look not to bank with metro bank !

Metro Bank doesn't process fund transfer 1st time after adding new payee. You will have to call the customer care and tell them its really you that did the payment and then they will release the payment within 24 hours. (Customer advisor said Faster payments will take up to 24 hours to process -- Dont understand why its called Faster payments then). I made a transaction to my own account in another bank within UK and It took 17 hours for my transfer to be processed even after calling customer care. In case of emergencies you will be left without money and bank will take their own sweet time to process the payments and withhold the money.

Nice people but nothing gets done. I have been trying to open the most basic business bank account with them twice already! (Yes! Really want to be their customer!) And got rejected both times for different reasons and bascially they said once I have had a bad company's name with bad records (how would I know! There are so many names in the whole wide world and I unfortunately picked one name with bad history record its own!) for the first time, then I will never be able to have a business account with them. I said so that means there's no chance to open a BA with them and pushing a customer away without further guiding/helping , and they said YES! Yes, I really want to be their customer, NOT! Maybe this is a sign for not being able to be with Metro! I have made countless of trips to them just to get things right so I can open the BA with them and obviously they don't care and of course they won't care about this review and to sort things out with me too. This is just a piece of advice for you all who is thinking going to them. DON"T WASTE TIME UNLESS YOU HAVE PLENTY OF IT!

Absolutely useless. Assistant manager in the Cheapside branch is unhelpful and incompentant. Exactly reflecting my experience in th Ealing branch. Wish I had never opened an account. Once my complaints have been addressed, I will move to a bank that has professional standards and staff that are in some way useful!

FOUR times now I've been there to get a credit card, and all times failed because of their own miscommunication between personal. Such a waist of time! Looks like personal is not trained at all.. THE QUANTITY IS NOT ENOUGH, TRAIN THEM FIRST DO THEY JOB

After wasting my time in a different high street bank where even 3 different proofs of residence where not good enough for them I decided to stop by Metro. I was taken care of with no waiting time, served a cup of tea and 30 min later was walking out with my new bank account and debit card. Cannot recommend more!

This bank concept is great and good on an everyday basis, the branch experience is frustrating though. Their systems are awful - it takes five minutes or more for to sign you into your safety deposit box (no, I don't want to take a seat, I want to visit my box now!). Even the most bureaucratic bank in the US only takes 60 seconds to do this. The worst part though is that the branch I go to (Cheapside) is understaffed and not run efficiently. There are never enough staff there and even when there's a queue there are staff members standing around not doing anything. I commend these guys for trying to be nice and polite, but they lack a sense of urgency and deep desire to help the customer quickly.

This bank is a joke! I strongly DO NOT recommend you to lose your time going there. I lost my time 2 times because the people that work there are incompetent and don't really say the truth about the documents that they accept. I went there and an attendant said for me to ask my employer for a letter and they would accept as prove of address. So I got the letter, I called them to confirm that they would accept and they said that they would accept for sure. Then I went there again and when I arrived there they just didn't accept the document and said that the information was wrong! I will never step in this place again! It is just a waste of time.

After 1h waiting they checked my paperwork, confirmed everything is in order and scheduled me for the next day. The next day I wasn't in the schedule, my papers wore not actually valid and what's written on the website is "information only" and it shouldn't be taken as-is. All that after another 1h wait time

OK before I went to this branch yesterday, I was suspicious due the many negative reviews. I honestly cannot rate my experience a decimal less than 5 stars. Friendly staff, rigorous identity and address check but as long as you provide everything they ask for in their website you are good. Best customer treatment in any bank ever. Effecient process, I even walked out with my card in hand! Big ups to Sabier and Emily.

But the one in Romford is not! Some of the staff there are good but others are 'picky'. If you are not 'British born' be careful whom you approach at this bank otherwise they will start questioning you as an immigration officer for your money. You are warned!!

It's funny reading reviews from idiots like @IN Y and @Dave Williams below. Instead of comparing the bank with your dream bank or some bank in the US, where admittedly they are much better than in the UK, this is very unfair. Banks in the UK are bad, because they are drowning on regulation from the government among other issues. However, comparing Metro with every single other high-street UK bank they come on top with a difference. They are one of the very few still offering safe deposit boxes and they are one of the fastest to open a business bank account. It can take months for other UK banks but only days in Metro bank and the Cheapside branch. Well done.

Waited 30 mins to open a new account and then advised it would be another 15 minutes. After further 15 minutes advised that two of the three staff would be another hour on their current appointments and the third would be another 20 minutes, at which point we gave up and left. When asked why they didn't say how long it would be when we first checked in the staff member who just shrugged her shoulders has cost Metro four lost customers. Rubbish attitude!

Account opening staff lack end to end experience and lack of visibility about what happens a in the stages of account opening . Overly focused on the current task at hand that they don't even think about the next stage in the process which means that you can end up going there more than three times to do the same task in an account opening process. Shortermist!

Worst service. First they made me wait for more than an hour to open a business account., then they asked me come next day at 8:00am, when the bank would relatively free. Worst part, next day at 8am, there was no one who could help with opening an account. Absolutely appalling service.

best bank because of opening times and days and the speed they replace a card however still could do better. the branches do get busy. howabout 1. let each branch manager run their store their style ie if they have ideas that suit just their store back them 2. brainstorm meetings each week. if most of the feedback is about a certain thing brainstorm soloutions 3. have floating staff ie staff logged into tills working in other sections so when the tills get busy they can jump on also get the manager to jump on tills it shows a can do attitiude. 4. offer a speed option. some people dont want a chitchat so offer a keyword option which when requested results in no smalltalk just very fast service a example would be account opening and such. so if i went to open a account and said "speed please" instead of a drawn out conversation it would just be quickfire questions. 5. dont book staff lunches during busy times

Worst disgusting experience i ever had in my life . Stop by to get a large amount of cash and the basically racially profiled me asking me questions that wasn't needed after 10mn scrolling my account I just asked my card back and walked out and went to Holborn which they actually gave me what I needed without any questions . They names were Sarah and Jonathan you will hear from me trust me . Branch to be avoided
