As a foreigner, it was a lot easier to set up this account and conveniently track our spending. Monzo also has joint accounts which was a great development. After dealing with the big banks in London with their lengthy, nonsense processes, Monzo was a relief!

I had my wallet stolen and currently going through a claims process with Monzo. They insist on all claims being made via their mobile app chat, however they are completely unresponsive when messaging them. It took them over half a day to respond to one of my messages! This is compared to my other banks who had the issue of fraudulent transactions resolved within 2 hours. I am now 2 days on from reporting the fraudulent transactions and still nothing has been done to retrieve the stolen funds. I have never experienced such bad customer service.

Deplorable customer service and an atrocious claim for a ‘bank’. Unfortunately I was a victim of fraudulent activity on EBay using a Monzo card from a gentleman in East London. Upon putting in a claim via the Monzo app and supplying all the necessary evidence as given to myself from Ebay, I received a refund in January 2020 only to be notified 3 months later in April that the refund I received would be rescinded without any real explanation. Once again I supplied the evidence and showed Monzo via their electronic format (as you cannot contact anyone via telephone) to explain that the gentleman who lived in East London hacked into my account and brought the items and not myself but you guessed it, the outcome came to no avail. Avoid this ‘bank’ and their outrageously poor ‘customer service’. Not once have I been able to ‘speak’ to someone to explain and ascertain help or further explanation. It appears that Monzo want to let their customers fall foul of petty thieves behaviour and feel this is acceptable. Unfortunately Monzo failed myself as a customer and I have/will be losing the money I have rightfully earned. Once the money is deducted I will be withdrawing all my funds accordingly.

Good but slippery - their 'no fee no commission' on foreign currency purchases is false. They pick a MasterCard rate which favours them best over the proceeding X number of days before settling. In other words they charge a hidden fee. Starling Bank are the only bank that give true no fee no commission plus allow cash withdrawals abroad.

Poor bank. Froze my account for a month without any reason. Luckily my salary goes to normal bank. Got a problem? Wait 3 days for a chat! There are other much better online banks Stay AWAY!!!!

The best app on my phone, helps me save more and relieves anxiety around seeing direct debits go out and making payments, finally a technology first bank that cares about customer experience. I was previously with HSBC which was the worst digital product I've ever used.

Be aware of them Freezing your account. Have had my money for over a month and refuse to contact me. Phone lines do not work half of the time and when they do they refuse to talk to you. I have reported them to the Financial conduct authority. Who have confirmed they have received 100s of complaints from people with the same problem. Got through to Monzo and told them what I had done and they accused me of lying. We’ll see YOU’RE ON The RADAR.

I've been with Monzo for about 18 months now. I thought their app was revolutionary, which, to be fair - it is. What isn't revolutionary is their customer services though. They behave like a bunch of children with their emojis etc. I send them a message and they take hours to respond and then just send you a copy and paste with a few words adjusted to make it look like they've written it for you. There is no way to phone them up. I'm afraid I'm not a student with a few quid in my bank - I need proper customer services so I'm going to be moving my banking elsewhere.

Very good customer service. Clean design and functionality. Customisable, e.g. I used a piggy bank photo for one of my pots. Relatively good interest rates on savings. Reliable. What could be better to be a true alternative to traditional banks: Multiple current accounts and debit cards Credit cards Potentially a Euro account? Packaged products (I think this is coming soon) Ability to categorise transactions from credit cards (Amex) via open banking. Keep up the good work!

Monzo was good and I used them from over a year without any issues. However recently they closed my account without any explanation which has all my money in it. Then proceeded to inform me it will take them 2-4 weeks to receive my money back Currently on week 5 if waiting and still nothing. When trying to contact them the people on the phone are useless and do not know anything Please ADVOID at all costs. Dont go with monzo unless you want to be left with no money. I never write reviews but this is needed

Easy to set up, easy to use. Monzo has made my life much easier knowing where my money is going. The staff are VERY helpful, any problems (if any - I think I've had 2 questions in the 2 years I've been with them) are resolved very quickly, professionally so I would 100% recommend Monzo to anyone looking for a new bank.

My monzo card doesn’t work at all and I do not know why, this bank is clearly not good as I can’t receive money, send it or spend it. I try to replace my card by ordering a new one but it always says error, my monzo card is useless.

Avoid these guys at all cost ! Terrible customer service! Communication is almost impossible with team who appear not to be familiar with subjects they are dealing with. So glad I closed the account with them, the service is ugly as the name Monzo sounds.

Monzo has been a joy to use since I first registered for an account. Their customer service is reactive, pleasant to talk to, and I've had no real faults with the service at all. Five stars. Full switch complete, and I even invested in them this week. That's how much I love Monzo.

Great banking app - customer service is great, app is fast and easy. Have a few other app based accounts but Monzo is the best. Overdraft fees are a little higher than others like Starling mind you but this is the only area Monzo doesn't come out on top.

Awful customer service, 8 people got involved in my issue none resolved it and the final person closed the chat without even responding! They are completely unhelpful and terrible to deal with when you have any issues. Constantly sending emojis like 12 year olds and apologising for slow responses (“we are experiencing high demand”)...hire more staff and get better training!

Great way to bank with really helpful and friendly staff, I lost my card and they contacted me after someone else reported it as lost, they froze my account for protection and contacted me direct to make me aware! Big thumbs up from me ????

I am convinced that the majority of the poor reviews are from people who either don't understand the limitations of using a new start up bank or are simply trying to rubbish a new challenger bank. I've been very happy with the product, the customer service and Monzo's reliability. My finances have never been better organised. Don't trust all the reviews - speak to friends/family/colleagues who use it and like myself - they'll explain how good it really is. Keep up the good work Monzo.

My 28 year old son opened an Monzo account to use and then Monzo started contacting him asking why he wasn’t using the account and trying to pressure him into paying money into the account. On one call when the lady on the other end found out he was a Self employed plumber she told him “ he would have to start paying for the account out of his profits” Telling him that he had tried to “sidestep” the systems, in order to get a free account. There are so many problems with that statement, the most obvious one is that he has never ended up using the account. Mainly because after setting up the account hearing lots of horror stories about them. My son made it clear he wasn’t interested in the account and they can close it down. He is now receiving legally worded emails/letters from them. Appalling bank ran by appalling people.

I started with a Monzo account and a Starling account and Monzo have been terrible for customer service by comparison. I decided to shut my Monzo and the app said "We will chat with you right away to get your account closed" half an hour later I'm still sat here waiting to close my account. The poor customer service continues.... *I've come back to add to this now my account is closed* I asked for the easy switch account option in the chat function. After taking over a day to respond via chat they shut the account without warning, logged me out and did not perform the switch, meaning I'll have to do it manually. Wow, Monzo, that is impressively poor service! Glad to be going elsewhere with my money

Terrible bank. Was banking fine with them for about 6 months then one day they decided to withhold the funds going into my account from gambling sites (Skybet). If you are planning to use this bank on gambling sites, I would advise strongly against this. It has been 5 days and I am still yet to receive funds going into a bank holiday weekend! Customer service is shoddy, all you get is automated messages from staff on live chat. Sorry Monzo but it is a no from me and I will be closing my account as soon as the funds land in my account.

Awful company. Closed my account with no explanation or warning. Tried to call and nobody answering the phones, just gets cut off, tried to message via online chat and got a reply 5 hours later that wasn't even relevant to my account being closed. Its a real shambles monzo, good grief. That's not to mention a friends account with over 3k savings being frozen again with no explanation or information given at all. Just you'll have to wait until someone contacts you...my word . I'd advise people to stay well clear of any bank who think they can deny you access to your own money without any explanation or reason or time frame for a solution given .

Super quick response time and attentive customer service during every interaction I've experienced. They actively encourage users to partake in discussions with regards to the company's direction, even allowing them to vote on certain issues. Overdraft facility is very flexible and in my opinion fairly costed. User-friendly app, easy to navigate. Most definitely earned my trust as my primary financial platform.

I love the Monzo app and it's really helped me with my finances (this is just my secondary account). It's easy to use and a great way for me to budget! Also the savings pots are really handy. I've knocked a star off as I had a weird pending transaction on my account this evening and the online chat was soooooooo dragged out. They take so long to reply! I was chatting to Amanda and then suddenly she left and was replaced by Kelly who said the shift had ended so she was taking over. The online chat is a massive let down !

Poor bank! Poor customer service! Thousands of people have had their money frozen, they make you wait 2-4 weeks but most people have waited over 5 weeks on average! They don’t have a branch manager that can help! They block your money and you won’t have an option to get it back they’ll refer you to food banks if you’re stranded! Be careful people. They’ve got fake reviews fake followers and fake accounts saying good things! If you challenge them they block your number and block your social media account. Don’t risk your money in these guys hands they’re not helpful.

Worst experience of my life ! Someone had used my card to make a payment online, Contacted 'customer service' and they didn't want to know, refused to deal with it, Hours between replys it was just awful. When someone did finally deal with it (after explaining someone was on my account) They then said the reason I couldn't be dealt with was because I was using my account at the same time the transaction happened !! Then they said that no payments would be able to go to that company in future,....Fast forward 2 months and 900 pound has gone from my account to the exact same company!! What was originally a complaint over a simple 30 pound that they refused to deal with has now resulted in 900 pound missing from my account because they didn't stop this company when I asked. Again no help, response, anything. This matter is now with the police....Take my advice and avoid using this company at ALL costs !!

Downloaded the app to take a look. You can't see the product details without applying, including identity verification and credit check. Contacted Monzo to request information entered so far is removed, and I was not willing to continue the application. Received a refusal (quote from rep): "We can't delete the data, even if you haven't finished signing up, because we don't have the technical ability yet. As soon as we do, we'll delete it, but that could take us years to develop," Any bank who does not comply with ICO rules is not one I trust to handle my money, or my personal information.

Would have got 5 starts if i had written this a few days ago. Had monzo for around 8 months, works perfect, easy to use, no real problems ... until .. you break your phone. Since this i cant do anything. If i log in on the browser its the watered down limited version, where you cant transfer money or do anything infact other than view your balance and freeze your card. So i borrowed a friends phone and after bouncing around in and out of emails i got in. When i got home i needed to pay bills (sky, EE) cant do it as all payments need to be authorised via the app. Great bank but very limited. For an online only bank your browser service should be spot on! The fact youve just told me that your an App onlt based bank kind of scares me. Do i want all my money in an App bank? hmm.

DO NOT put any of your money in a monzo account, they will try there hardest to get you to move your wages to them and your direct debits but will for no reason freeze your account for checks and tell you to wait 5 working days, REALLY!! try telling sky TV or your mobile phone provider dont worry its just Monzo doing a check on my account over 5 WORKING DAYS. to all there customers and people thinking of opening a bank account with them google monzo on watch dog before using them in any way.

While everything looks good on the app, their international payment (Transferwise actually) is totally non-functional. No information on the movement of money and could take as long as it would. The worst thing is that nothing displayed in app is accurate including the estimated delivery of the transfer. Also if anything happens you would need to talk to Transferwise. Better stick to high street banks despite it’s a little more expensive but you can avoid all these hassles with Monzo.

Words cannot explain the trauma this company has caused. THEY HAVE TAKEN ALL OF A YOUNG MAN'S MONEY WHO IS VULNERABLE WITH SEVERE MENTAL HEALTH issues WITH NO REASON, NO EXPLANATION, NO JUSTIFICATION & shut his account down. He has Schizotypal personality disorder. I found him violently throwing up, shaking & sobbing saying people are trying to kill him, they are watching him & they are after him his Paranoia has kicked in massively & is now on 24 hour watch. We set this up so he can have some sort of independence & manage his money himself so Thankyou Monzo for the exceptional awful, diabolical service you provided us! I have now called twice only to be told they can not help me or explain why they did this. I am still waiting for a call back... As last resort I'm writing a review in the hope they will get back to me. You have no idea how hard it is to manage mental health. NONE. I hope you have the decency to rectify the damage you have done & caused. I am his primary carer. I am livid. I would like answers.

Avoid- as per other reviews, terrible customer service, no communication and is near enough impossible to actually speak to a member of staff. Seems to be rolled as a fully working bank but in fact is a product in trial stages, everything's described as a "work in progress". Be smart and don't switch.
