If all you want is to be connected with potential buyers, then Fox and Sons will meet your needs (as I'm sure, for this, most estate agents would). They did find us a buyer, and we successfully completed.
However, if you DON'T want your estate agent to be exasperated with you if you're unable to host a viewing, or irritated with you for setting foot on an unoccupied property before they have a arrived, or do the bare minimum to get their percentage, and disappear once it was in the bag, maybe you might want to consider someone else.
John Hilton's in contrast (highly recommended) were the estate agent for the property we bought. They were old-school quality service: patient, informative and helpful beyond what they were obliged to do for us. They even dropped the keys to the new (unoccupied) house off to us a day earlier than our moving date, which gave us an invaluable extra day to get everything done.

Being part of a large national practice you’d think that Fox and Sons would invest in training professionalism and customer care. Apparently not. From the disinterested Ed (manager) to his staff Alex and the pushiest mortgage adviser I’ve ever met, I found them to be uncommunicative, amateurish and very unimpressive. I was a buyer not a seller, but if I contrast the service I received with my selling agent (Knight Frank) it was like night and day. I will never recommend them or use them myself

Absolutely the worst service I have ever received from an estate agent. They were unresponsive, never sent an email or text confirmation for viewing. Failed to tell me that other parties had made offers on the house we wanted, and when an offer was accepted by another party they failed to tell me. And the worst part was the agent being unapologetic when my entire family got WET PAINT on our coats during a viewing which failed to come out. If I could give 0 stars I would.

I recently moved to a flat in Brighton through Fox & Sons. Molly handled the viewing and was prompt in contacting the landlord to confirm some details for me. The lettings team in general were responsive, courteous and answered all my queries in a timely manner before the move-in and have been responsive since. Would recommend based on my experience.

I've been a professional landlord for nearly 7 years now. Unfortunately I've had to change agents several times due to them just not prioritizing my needs. I recently left my previous agents & during July & August I embattled with a situation in which not only was I in another continent but I had 2 HMO properties that weren't being managed.
One property had tenants who wanted to extend their tenancy but with 2/5 people being replaced & a deposit which needed transferring etc. Fox & sons kemptown delt with this efficiently & proactively.
The other property became vacant at the end of July. Not only did these tenants not pay their rent but they left my property in an ugly state & I had to pay (with my own money) to put it back to nice state. Molly conducted a viewing the day after my carpenter had gone there to fix everything & days later these same tenants put a deposit down & now I am in the all clear.
I can't really thank you guys enough for helping, especially in such a turbulent time.

I waited for 5 days over a weekend for acceptance from the agents for a guarantor, 3 days before I was scheduled to move in. Nothing from the agents, they didn't care. It was only when they gave me the details of the owners and I could speak directly (after 5 long days) that I knew I was actually moving into the house. Then I didn't get to sign the contract until the actual day of the contract starting. I didn't get the keys either. I had not experienced such carelessness from letting agents and I have moved a lot (Berlin & UK). On the day of the move the van was waiting to move in whilst I was waiting for the contract to be signed by the owners. Bad oversight on the agents part! After a 90 mins wait I got to sign the 52 pages of the contract electronically on my phone screen, barely able to read it all! Only then did I get the keys handed to me (with the wrong key for the back door). Michael was really helpful but he wasn't my main contact.

Fox & Sons were great at helping me sell my property. Not being in Brighton, I needed a firm that could manage everything for me which they did. They were even willing to check on the property for me as it was vacant. They were very proactive at chasing solicitors and both the vendor and myself which led to an extremely fast exchange and completion. They were very responsive and e-mails were usually responded to the same day. I would not hesitate to use them again if I needed to sell another property.

My Dad passed away and I had to sell his house fast to pay back the Loan for his Live at home Care Plan. Extremely Stressful time, loss of Dad , let down by another Agent and I also live in France! Then came Ed, Ben and the Fox team into my life, they took control, worked hard to find me a quick buyer/sale, kept me updated through out the process and had no problem that I phoned to help me deal with the 1001 questions from the conveying Solictors!
A little more expensive then the first Agent that let me down. But this is a caring Firm and you get what you pay for, A SUPER SERVICE. If I had another house to sell I would only use them.

A superb estate agent in Kemp Town, with a fantastic sales and letting department, always achieving the highest possible prices and they have a real understanding when it comes down to dealing with tenants. I have a student let where the tenants decided not to pay, they managed to get all the money back from them and I cannot thank them enough. Simply WOW!! The ladies in the letting department have been on the ball and catered to our every need right from day one of the process. They are always there to take our questions and help out.
Special thanks to Sammy, who initially showed us around the property and did so in a very professional but comfortable manor. With a wealth of knowledge on the property condition and the terms.
Also another special thanks to Jenna, who has been our property manager and negotiator in the process. She too has been professional and warming to us. The whole process was very calm, smooth and rather quick. But we never felt pressured or was given the hard sell.
One last thanks to Lauren (I believe I have her name right), who is on the front desk manning the battleship. Thank you for always welcoming me with a smile and being very polite.
When it comes to moving again we will surely be staying with Fox and Sons.

Serious 'management issues' exist at this branch. I had to re-book a viewing twice and when they finally turned up, they were late. My offer was never passed on to the seller. They always called back on the 3rd time of asking. I eventually made direct contact with the seller and bought our property through another agent.

I can honestly say that Jenna and her team in Kemptown have made the whole experience of renting out our home for a year as easy as possible. I have been a long standing landlord with Fox and Sons and its clear there are some disgruntled tenants commenting on here. But you can take it from a old man who has a number of investments in and out of the city, you will not have any issues with Fox and Sons. In fact I find it disgraceful that a number of tenants are trying to ruin the reputation of an outstanding company. From what I can see from these comments, the house was uninhabitable, so its clear Fox and Sons where in fact putting the tenants best interest first, and from a landlords point of view, I don't want a claim on my hands. Keep up the good work Fox and Sons. DB

Michael at Fox & Sons was great at guiding us through our mortgage application. We were first-time buyers so we'd not done it before and his relaxed and friendly style definitely helped! One of the benefits was that Michael was able to speak to his colleagues at other branches to smooth the path with viewings at properties in various parts of Brighton and Hove rather than us having to approach them cold. We'd definitely use him again!

Having a small property in Kemp Town, Brighton brings lots of challenges. There is a frequent tenant turnover and since the buildings are more than 150 years old, there is always some issue popping up. Thanks to Jenna Miles and the Fox and Sons team, the property is almost fully occupied which is the most important for a landlord. All issues have been dealt in a calm and professional manner which is crucial as renting the place out brings lots of challenges.

1st rate service from Ben, Ed, David, Louise and the whole team at Fox & Son's Kemptown. Offer secured for the full asking price on my apartment within 48 hours of going to market! Can't say fairer with that. These guys know what they're doing so if you're looking to sell your property promptly I'd highly recommend giving them a call. Furthermore, the Kemptown branch was originally recommended to me by a couple of friends of mine so it's clearly not a one off!

Heads up:
Mostly no issues with the agency approaching the final months. However had an issue where they booked in an inspection and we arranged for 11.30 when I could be home. I arrived at 11.20 to be ready and waited until 12 before calling for an update. Apparently there was a "diary mix up" (the guy had called me in the morning to confirm 11.30 so I am not convinced). The inspection was carried out without me being home at 11. Not a major issue, but I find it unprofessional to not stick with appointments. There was also no explicit permission for access without my presence but agencies are always pushing boundaries in Brighton. Not the worst. Perhaps not the best.
Original Review (First Impressions):
So far so brilliant!
The fees are a little higher than the more budget / student oriented letting agencies but it is so so worth it. The team is really brilliant and I've had no non-sense from them which I've experienced with previous agencies. Fox and Sons has done a great job so far and handled everything professionally. They seems to attract good landlords as my current landlord is extremely proactive and very good.
I've not had any issues in communications at all.
Things to watch out for (but absolutely don't affect service or would make me drop a star):
They tend to push lots of "add-ons" such as suggesting their partner electric supplier etc etc. They're not the cheapest option and F&S clearly takes commission. It's entirely optional, but unless it's right for you don't accidentally sign up for it. Just ignore the check boxes and say "no thank you". They won't take it personally (which shines to their good service).
I'm not at the end of my tenancy, but if there is anything to add I will update the review accordingly.
