Was a tenant with Parkers for a number of years. Avoid this company at all cost. The property was let to us in a horrific state and the property manager failed to respond on a number of occasions. When the property moved from Samuel James to Parkers, they lost the keys on the move over and we had to arrange getting the keys cut to give to them at our own expense. They did not replace the lock after losing the keys, putting us in a huge security risk. When we moved into the property, there was a faulty electric lock in place which meant the front door did not lock, this meant my contents insurance was invalid. After phoning and emailing about the issue for months, they reluctantly agreed to change the lock, however, the new lock left a large hole in the front door which was covered with gaffa tape. This left us at risk of burglary. On moving in the shower was running hot and cold, a common fault in cheap electric showers. When I first contacted, the Property Manager ignored this, when she eventually responded, after a number of emails and phone calls, she said it was simply the shower head. This was not the case and for two years, almost the duration of our tenancy, we had a shower that run between ice cold and scalding hot, it was only when it spat limescale at us that Parkers responded. During the pandemic, when a 20+ year old oven tripped the electric and left us with no electric, Parkers said that 'I was not a priority' and therefore didn't need an emergency electric. I had to disconnect the oven to get the electric back and when I said they were leaving me without an oven and any means to cook food for over three days, they ignored me. I had to ask the engineer's company who were booking the engineer to check the oven if they had anything. By luck, she had one portable hob left, however, if she didn't have this, I would have had no means to cook a hot meal on for 3 days. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Parkers failed to follow their own guidelines and staff attended with no PPE including no face masks or sanitiser, putting me at risk. In a complaint, the Managing Director did not wish to comment, nor did they answer any of the complaints raised. They left us with a shower that ran between scalding hot and freezing cold and spat limescale at us, a fridge that would freeze food and a washing machine that flooded the kitchen when put on a 60 cycle. The company is an absolute shambles, and with lack of any clear direction. The Managing Director didn't even acknowledge my complaint and when I did, I received a poorly communicated email. When looking for rental accommodation, avoid Parkers at all costs, their staff do not care about paying clients. Look elsewhere and save yourself the bother. I have provided images of the poor state of the property when let to us, and the poorly written response of the Managing Director. Avoid this company at all costs. Find yourself a professional company.

We had a fantastic experience with Parkers. The team was communicative right the way through the process, going from viewings (where they were happy to show us three nearby places at once) to the letting process and always kept us up to date when anything changed. Everything was quick and easy to do and we have so far had complete responsiveness for the maintenance issues we've had with the flat so far. I've already recommended them to people who I know are looking to move in the next few months.

Parkers you are something special. I absolutely lovee the flat itself. Such a good choice and price, good location we were very happy to find this flat. Also a lady named Ruby has been super helpful with everything, so thank you so much to her. A few things I would suggest to Management is 1) You need to communicate more effectively. Like giving your tenants all the information needed before they get to the property. 2) I’m a little bit surprised by one of the directors who I believe his name is Mark. Doesn’t seem like that great of a director with how he handles objections. It’s important to treat people with respect. It’s also important to LISTEN to constructive feedback. Feedback should be used to improve the business not taken as an insult if it’s said professionally and respectfully. Basically overall quite happy, just think communication could be better and that the manager Mark could be... well more understanding!

This is why I absolutely DON'T recommend using the services of Parkers Estate Agents. If you don't want your energy wasted and peace of mind shot to pieces, don't use their services. Never have I seen lack of common sense and complete disregard of people's time taken off work, effort in research and risk going out in these hard times. I contacted Parker's after seeing an advert on Rightmove on Monday 14/12/2020 inquiring about a 4 bed in Reading, called them up and asked if it's available, the lady who picked up (H.) told me it is available for viewing and asked me when can I see it. We agreed on the time and day 5:45pm on Tuesday 15/12/2020. I asked (H.) exactly what are the steps needed if I like the property and would like to sign it, while she was asking all the usual screening questions. She said I would call them up and get the process started online on the same day. And that another person has already put an offer but the landlord would see the offer(s) later and decide. Went on to add that my chances are better since we're only 2 people looking to move. I specifically said, I don't want to be going all the way there from South of London zone 5 to Reading in the west to have the other potential tenants' take it the next day before I even decide, because it's happened to me before. (H.) said don't worry we'll let you know on the day so you don't go through that and save the trouble of coming to viewing it. The next day, on the day of the viewing, 15mins into my train reaching Reading station I get a text alert that a voicemail left by (H.) to tell me "Hi there, it's (H.) from Parker's. Unfortunately the property has been let. Please call me back." I call while onboard the train in absolute shock, her colleague picks up, I explain that I'm on my way and ask to verify that the property has been let. He responded with yes I'm afraid so. I plead my cas to no resolve or offer of any outcome other than sorry it's been let, the live version. I call again after I walk out the station, ask the colleague who picked up to let (H.) call me back. She calls, to reiterate her message again. Absolutely no resolve once again to anything we spoke about before, anything that can be done for a counter offer from my end, no other properties to see while I'm already there. Complete and utter failure of a business and who they let work there. Advise anyone who is searching for properties in the Reading area or west of London not to use Parker's estate agents.

I can't recommend Parkers highly enough. After trying to sell our house through a different agent for months, Parkers found loads of potential buyers within days which led to many offers. When the sale unfortunately fell through, Parkers found a new buyer within 48 hours just before Christmas. Throughout the whole process, we were kept well-informed and Parkers were always quick to answer any queries or do anything to help. In particular, Damien was extremely helpful; he really went above and beyond! We are extremely grateful to him and everyone at Parkers!

The team provided a valuation of my property and excellent advice, the communication was superb and in the current environment it felt very Covid safe and secure. The most absured and rubbish estate agents I have ever dealt with. Wanted to buy propert in reading as investment, arranged 4 viewings for a saturday and confirmed them with a guy name Damien on Friday since I was driving all the way from London. Got to the first viewing on the list. Women from parkers rushed that viewing by telling she had another viewing to go to and had not stats on the property and couldn’t tell me the rental income for the property. Went to the second property and parkers did a no show(women frm the first viewing said that she is only covering that viewing and the rest of my viewing are with some one else). After I waited for 10 mins and then drove to the 3rd flat anf again no show here. Kept on ringing the office and spoke to quite few of their colleagues who all claim to took msgs and promised a call back. After I waited here fr another few minutes went to the last property and no on turns up there again. After I wasted an hour driving between these flat and waited outside for some one to turn up to do the viewing. I started driving back as I was about to hit M4, had a call from Damien who claimed the viewing were cancelled despite confirming them with me the day before and then try and be nice by asking ohh what kind of budget you have and I can arrange further viewing next week without taking on board that parkers have messed my day already. Sellers stay away from them. They’re not serious about ur property otherwise they wont deal with a cash buyer this way. And if you are a buyer, don’t waste time and monies(fuel) with them.

Ethical! Ease of doing Business - Excellent! Communication - Spot on! Our business was with the Lettings team. A viewing was arranged and communicated meticulously. Within 24 hours of the viewing, we had bagged the property and we had paid the holding deposit. Unfortunately, the very next day due to unforeseen circumstances we had to let go off the property. We were very skeptical of Parkers refunding the holding deposit, but as a goodwill gesture, we got our refund!! I must thank the Reading lettings team for understanding our situation and giving us the refund. Thanks again.

As a landlady who is not able to get to the rented property to ensure all is well I am totally reliant upon the estate agent to look after the property and the tenants requirements. It is therefore extremely important to me that tenant issues are sorted out immediately and the team at Parkers seem to be responsive in these matters. I have been unfortunate as the property was vacated at the start of the COVID19 crisis and for the first time in almost 20 years it was empty, but Parkers implemented a virtual viewing which did find a tenant who have now moved in. I hope these tenants are happy in the property and stay for a few years.

Very professional service from Parkers Reading after having a terrible experience with another agent, so I am very weary and aware of what could go wrong. They manage a small property I rent out and were even able to find me a tenant during lockdown using virtual viewings. They respond efficiently and effectively, and I've generally had a very good experience with them. Probably not the cheapest agent but I went with the cheapest before and they were total cowboys. So like for lots of other things, if u pay peanuts and u get monkeys!

I’ve rented with a total of 5 lettings agents and never have I been met with such incompetence, negligence, and apathy as when I rented with Parkers. They are incredibly hard to get a hold of, and when they do finally answer the phone, they are rude and patronising. They ask to send documents which you’ve previously given them and do all they can to suck any money out of you without an ounce of empathy. If I ever have to rent again or am in the fortunate enough position to rent out a property myself, Parkers would be the very last company I choose. Frankly, I hope someone takes over the management and teaches them all a lesson in good customer service.

I felt that, throughout the entire letting process, information was withheld from me and I was ludicrously overcharged for services which I was told were "non-refundable." More importantly, charges seemed to keep being added on as we progressed through the letting of the property without any forewarning, and as a final slap in the face, you even charged for giving me a reference for my next property! Overall I feel that I was taken advantage of throughout the entire tenancy by yourselves, the only relief coming from the 3rd party company who managed my deposit. I have had to wait slightly more than a year since my last contact with Parkers to give this feedback as the thought of another interaction with them gives me panic attacks. I think you are nothing more than con-artists and shall warn everyone and anyone who thinks about using your services to stay away. It is because of businesses like yours that people do not trust estate agents.

This was my first time letting a property that wasn't a student let, and Parker's made it very easy. Rebecca, in particular, was very helpful and responsive to my barrage of questions and the inventory for the property was very thorough. I have reported problems via their online form, and these got fed back quickly and the maintenance team texted within a couple of days to access the property. I like i'm sure most people have had issues with either landlord/lady and/or the lettings agency. Parkers Reading has been professional, FAST i mean seriously major quick responses and have shown their quality in not only doing their job within their remit but looking at alternative ways to help when a problem occurs. This has been the case from the viewing stage to paper work to aftercare. Personally whether you believe this to be an exaggerated review or not I will use Parkers Reading again and if I move outside of Reading I will still look to them first.

Recently I rented a property via Parkers Reading, and I am very satisfied overall with the process of hiring. I especially would like to note about their professionalism, as they appear to keep pace with online technologies especially in these difficult pandemic times. Everything from tenancy application to signing a tenancy contract was done electronically without needing to physically meet or go to their office. After moving to the property we had some issues with which Rebecca Snell has done an incredible job in solving them. Rebecca has always been truly responsive in answering our questions and solving our issues. So, thank you very much Rebecca.

UPDATE 06 Feb 2020: one month since I reported water leak rotting ceiling and window frame, no actions taken. This Friday it'll be three people/contractors who've come and visited the property and provided quotes to each of the agencies, one being Parkers. Basically, if you can avoid renting that's great, if you can't PLEASE don't use Parkers they're one-way traffic. It's the gift that keeps on giving. Also note: if you can learn from my experience it's great, I'm sure when I leave my property they'll (Parkers) be as brutal and unreasonable as possible to squeeze every penny from us (they work for money and Landlords pay them) BUT if these reviews can make you aware of letting agencies, I'd say my effort is not wasted. ----------------------------------------------------- I've been a long term tenant with Parkers, they're a mixed bag to be honest. Positive: If you report an issue they'll spring into action and get it fixed, Bravo! Things I don't like include: they push hard and early to get tenancy contract renewed. If you want something replaced or change - best of luck! monthly property visits are one way traffic - they'll never find something wrong with the property only designed to investigate if you've done something to the property. Good thing: for a price you can get everything, I wanted a letter for my wife, charged me £60 pounds which will be adjusted against referencing fees, it's just a letter I'll pay referencing don't have to be like that. I think in all fairness Parkers letting is there to support landlords more than tenants, I don't blame them, they make money from landlords not us. I am a long term tenant with Parkers so have tried to keep the above objective.
