I received great service. I went to renew my passport and my ID and I finished in less than 10 mins. As long as you have all your documents ready and you have booked an appointment, you'll be absolutely fine.

I went at 9am to get a number of documents certified and notarised. Everyone was polite, helpful and efficient. The notary kindly gave me a verbal translation of each document to ensure it corresponded to the one in English. It all took an hour.

We arrived 1.5 Hrs early so first to be seen. Yes there are queues ..but they did move ! we needed documents notarized, cost about £30 per signature, much cheaper if you can go back in 5 days to collect .. I'm not going to write anything bad, its a small office (on the notary side) just choose a nice day, take a coffee and arrive early. The staff were efficient and very ... Bulgarian :-)

I had the most disgraceful experience today at the Bulgarian Consulate in London. The staff attitude was terrible, we weren’t even greeted. There is no waiting area and everyone has to wait outside in the cold on the street. I’ve booked an appointment three months ago to apply for my daughter’s passport renewal which was refused just this morning. The lady who dealt with us was very condescending and arrogant. She suggested to go to Bulgaria to the court to get a document that my daughter’s father’s whereabouts are unknown and then to go back to London to apply for the renewal. This is extremely stupid considering that if we were to go to Bulgaria we could apply for the renewal there without a hassle. My freedom of speech was also threatened, in her words “you have the right of opinion but not to voice it”. The same Bulgarian Consulate helped my daughter’s passport to be renewed five years ago. I told the lady that I couldn’t understand why she couldn’t help us today as the situation hasn’t changed since the last time. She said that apparently the person who dealt with us years ago was incompetent. I am really angry as I had to use time off my holiday allowance, to disturb my daughter’s preparation for the important GCSEs, to book an accommodation for the night before as coming from the other end of England as appointments are only available till lunch time. The Bulgarian Government needs to seriously consider inspecting the staff working at the Bulgarian Consulate as they should be there to help us not to send us to go through this hell.

Very wise of the Bulgarian embassy to keep everyone waiting outside.Perhaps this was because MEHMED SHABAN INKOV visited the place. This gentleman pickpocketed me and stole my van key and more recently hacked my phone. Ladies and gentleman steer well clear of this individual.

Worst embassy services ever. Understaffed and very bad facilities, no toilets or waiting room, no disabled access. If you try you can't actually make it worst. Even with appointment booked in advance waiting times are few months?! That is very bad presentation for my country to the world. The staff has been improved in the last few years, but they can't do much given the very poor plannining and complete lack of facilities. Not to mention the lack of parking. It will be way better to move all consular services somewhere where there will be required facilities to provide them. In UK I can use the post to get my UK passport, not my Bulgarian one. Why not improve the abysmal web site and provide some consular, id and visa services there? The consular services provided there are the worst ever.

For 3 days I try to contact the Bulgarian Embassy by the phone and no one pick up the phones. Most of the time they switch off immediately without ringing, but the few that ring are never picked up. What is going on there.

An utter disgrace for the Bulgarian nation and the only embassy in London as far as I could see, that operates so inefficiently and with so little respect for its citizens. Sort yourselves out- you cannot expect the world to see you seriously if you cannot run a respectful and adequate consular service. I visited to have my national ID card renewed. We were asked to wait in the cold outside for nearly 2 hours before it became clear that they do not accept anyone without an appointment made online. The website states this, but it is not obvious (two people checked and we both missed it). Subsequently, the first available appointment turned out to be 6 months away, and the document turnover after submission- 3 months. This is because they can only process two people per hour, only work a limited number of days in the month and only issue documents for 4 hours per day (i.e. 8 people can get per day at most). They are completely incapable of providing a service, an utter joke. Moreover, the embassy staff are rude to the point of ridicule: they will slam the door in your face as you politely attempt to ask how the service operates. I would expect this from some fossilised administrator from the old cadre, but the chap in question was a young man... He also showed little consideration for the UK nationals waiting to be served (by a notary), who did not speak Bulgarian. If I had not helped usher them in, they would have been shoved away by the crowd, because this man simply would not talk to them (he could). At least he had the decency to allow parents with children in as a priority. In summary, this is a bureaucratic inefficient rude preposterous excuse of a service. They are more focused on their image, official events and public holidays than serving the public- in other words, they are all I "fondly" remember of Bulgaria from 20 years ago. Shame.

When I arrived at the Embassy it was a long queue. There were only 3 opened desks but the process was going smoothly. The lady that took my application was really polite and overall was not that long waiting. I managed to get my passport after little more than 3 weeks from Bulgaria. They are extremely busy and doing their best to accommodate all the people. Blagodarq vi.

Summary: If you are a person that wants anything other than brain-dead advice or an ID renewal, steer clear of this place. Stated my case as the security guard greeted everybody waiting in queue OUTSIDE of the building, he was decently helpful but not knowledgeable enough, to be expected, no harm. After waiting about an hour or so I am greeted by this unfriendly looking lady that takes a copy of my ID as I state what I want. She replies "Come back in 30 minutes". I come back 30 minutes later after sitting around basically just waiting again, because the embassy is not near any commercial buildings. And after waiting for another 20 or so minutes for the lady to be free again she goes (without even saying so much as a "sorry") "It's not gonna work out because we don't store copies of this document for anybody born before 2000, just send a relative a 'power of attorney' letter or (I kid you not) just go back to Bulgaria to get what you want done" I. Wish. I. Was. Joking. I really do... She couldn't START with the fact that they don't offer this type of documentation to anybody born before 2000?! Or are they just straight up lying to people so they have to do less work? If I wanted to use a 'power of attorney' letter I would've done so without your bloody help! These are supposed to be the "officials" representing Bulgaria in the UK?

This Embassy is a total JOKE. They let the people wait outside in the cold, including babies and children. No-one from the staffs tells the parents to come with priority. The small babies wait outside for hours. The venue is way too small for all visitors. There is no access for prams and wheel-chairs. The staff doesn't know the law and does not have any manners or simple thought for the others. They only want the working day to end so that they can go home. The security was away today and one other member of staff was dealing with visitors. Even worse. The Embassy shows exactly why Bulgaria is at the end of the queue - no organisation, no thought for the other person, not even for small babies. Complete waste of space.

Despite my bad telephone experience few months ago and the awful reviews on here I’m leaving more of a positive feedback. The security guy (blonde), was super helpful and polite. I think an additional security guard will be good as I could see they don’t do just door supervising. The lady on the desk was polite and helpful. So apparently there is improvement and going to a right direction. Five stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ To the blonde security guy!

The auto description provided on the phone makes no sense and doesn't give you any useful information! Then you go online and what you see - The worst website ever! The links provided on each page are either not loaded or are blocked by most browsers as not trusted source!!!!! The earliest available appointment for issuing a passport or id is 6 months! THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! The whole system is RUBBISH! Everything was working better and quicker 5 years ago! Didn't somebody put a thought into this system before implementing it?

To summarise - opening hours are from 9.30 till 13.30, OVER THE PHONE you can reach them between 13.30 till 16.00 for consular services for Bulgarian nationals. Good luck to all the people with a job with normal working hours... Useless as always, only giving 1 star because I could not give NONE.
