Person I spoke to was characteristically American, managed to make an unprompted reference to the Revolutionary War in our 7 minute phone conversation (I'm British). Was also pretty condescending if I mentioned anything that he couldn't answer, as though I was a fool for thinking he could; even when I was just explaining my scenario. Got half the answer I wanted but he seemed very irate by the fact I was calling, when simply telling me he couldn't help, and answering what he could would have sufficed.

This embassy is by far the worse I have ever had to deal with. Only way to get in contact is through email and answers are automated, with disregard to all the difficulties American Citizens and their families are experiencing during this pandemic.

Staff are incredibly rude and unhelpful. When you try to speak to a human about a personal matter they refer you to email. When you receive the email its an automated message. Their approach to scheduling appointments is horrendous, there is no one that can help give any indication of when new appointments are added and they just say "just constantly refresh our page" like we all can just devote 24/7 to that. I am very very disappointed in how the embassy has handled everything and because of it my son is 2 months old and there is no record of him being a U.S citizen or ability for us to go home. I know there are many others in my situation with children far older. They should seriously consider what they are putting people through.

It's a lovely building, reminds me of OUR Lloyds building in London, but we haven't got a lake and waterfall outside

I attended the U.S. embassy in London for the "Nonimmigrant interview". It was a straight forward experience. After checking your passport and confirmation papers at a podium outside, you go through airport-style security x-ray and metal detector arch. Once inside the main building, you are given a ticket with a n⁰ and instructed to go to the 1st floor and wait there for your n⁰ to be called. The first agent checks your documents are in order and you go back to the same waiting room and and wait for your n⁰ to be called again for the "interview". I travel for work and had a company letter, in my case the interview lasted 2/3 min with a very friendly young lady.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The building was very nice inside and they explain the whole process to you as you're going through it. A very pleasant experience

You MUST have an appointment to get any services done, but it was quick and easy and the building is very nice to look at inside. All the staff were amazing. To include the officers outside.

I tried to pay my Texas here, but I wasn't Delaware that you had to do it somewhere else. I just wanted to end my Missouri. I had to pay for a room Oregon somewhere else, but spent all my money on a New Jersey. Maybe my wife knows what to do. Alaska later.

A vast improvement over the last building. The outside and the inside are very cool... architecturally smart. Probably one of a few new modern builds with a moat. Service wise, it still takes about an hour at Passport services but if feels more efficient some how. HINT: There are separate lines for visa applicants vs US citizens (minimal waiting to enter) so look for the appropriate line.

As always they have great service, considering the amount of people they have to see. New embassy looks really beautiful, clean and well organised so is the surrounding area. Super helpful stuff.

Great. Staff are very friendly and the organisation for where you need to go and when is fantastic. We booked an early appointment, and when we were leaving the line was massive. I would recommend an early appointment, make sure to have all your paperwork and to pay attention to the screen that calls out your number while you wait. These tips could help you save time but more importantly not miss your appointment because you're too engrossed on your cell phone.

Mirroring society's changes in the last 60 years the Embassy has moved from a classic 'modernist' building designed to merge in with mainly residential Mayfair properties to a fortress; albeit a fortress softened by aesthetically pleasing cladding on three sides.

Lovely building, the last time I’ve been here there was a long queue however the staff were very quick to try and process everyone and get it sorted as soon as possible to meet the appointment times. They were friendly and helpful, I saw no flaws during my visits here.

After reading the reviews I prepared myself for the whole experience and interview to most likely not go so well, on top of that I am visibly a Muslim woman however, that was not the case for me personally. Most staff I came across were respectful including security. Visitor visa approved. Have your paperwork organised and be honest regarding your travel plans. Proof of employment and annual leave/return to work confirmation from manager should also be helpful.

I was pleasantly surprised how easy my trip to the new Nine Elms embassy was. I arrived at 9am for a passport renewal appointment, security was polite and quick, by 9:25 I had had my three appointments and was out of the building by 9:30! The new building is well designed, bright, spacious, calming and easy to get to – a major step up from the old embassy.

The whole process was a bit smoother and quicker for my daughter, than it was few years ago for myself. There's a long wait ahead, you aren't going to get in at the time you booked. They need to get some water dispenser there!

My sons passports were expiring soon and did not meet the requirements to enter Germany, I thought that my vacation will be ruined. But the airline staff told me to try temp passport at the embassy and I am glad I did! The embassy closes for lunch so make sure you can arrive before 12pm or after 1 pm. The embassy staff were professional, courteous, and caring. I’ve got my temp passport in one hour. Two staff members handled my passports, I didn’t get their names but I want them to know that they were amazing and did a great job, ???? THANK YOU, and thank you US embassy in London

I was reserved after reading many of negative reviews. I don’t think people working there are rude, they have immense pressure to assist large number of people everyday. Getting visa is a bit of process but I believe consular know what they are dealing with. You will find they don’t ask many questions and take lot of time but it seemed they are well prepared. Thank you

I had a very positive experience for the passport renewal service. It was efficient and the staff were polite. The building itself was also nice and modern. If you don't have your photo prepared, there is a photo booth on site. Water fountains are also available. If you are eligible to renew your passport via mail, I would recommend you choose to come in person instead with your DS-82 form if it is convenient for you. You can save on the fees associated with procuring a postal money order or banker's draft, plus postage fees to send off your passport. There is no in-person collection of your passport, so everyone has to make arrangements for delivery. I almost got the special envelope from the post office, but then discovered that DX was much cheaper. You can purchase that courier service at the embassy.

Even after 3 generations of Military Service, the US Embassy is useless when you are truly in need. We have 2 children, My husband has a heart condition and I am physically disabled. .... we need help and were simply wished "Good Luck," by an English woman. We couldn't even speak to an American!

In and out very quickly on a Tuesday morning. Very smooth process even as an eastern european and got approved, which is nice. Waited in the company of Jamie Dornan who is the main actor in 50 Shades of Gray so that also helped with the nerves.

I would like to know what is the criteria to have a Tourist Visa (for 4 days only) approved. After what I have seen, being a woman (plus latin in my case) makes it definitely more difficult. Even though you have proved your ties (work, study and family) to the country you live, it is not enough. The tourist visa system in the U.S. looks more like a money making business rather than a governmental service.

My fiancé had a visa interview this morning. Everyone he interacted with was very nice and professional with even the security guard at the door offering fist bumps and high fives. The wait from check in to interview was about 45 minutes so not too bad. He was denied unfortunately but staff was great and very helpful.

Can’t understand the negative reviews... Went there with my mum for her us tourist visa as she needs one, I was allowed in to be the interpreter. Everything was straight forward, polite staff, very courteous... The first part on the first window was quick, the second part with the approving officer was great! The actual interview lasted literally 2 minutes, (most of this time was for the lady typing on the PC) 3 days later (yesterday) my mother received her passport with a 10 years visa! I just want to answer some that says they have been discriminated because of where they’re coming from, my mother is Muslim, covering her head, can’t speak English... the motive of travel was genuine as it is a pure holiday (what helped is the fact the she goes all over the world for holidays, so passport full of stamps)

I applied for a Tourist American visa twice at the London embassy over the last 2 months. My cousin is getting married and we are having a family reunion after 10 years. During the first interview, it seemed as if the interviewer had already made up their mind about my not getting my visa. My family is established in the UK and my children have been attending school here, yet it was not enough to convince the embassy that I would not come back. The second time, I came prepared with all types of documentation. I came with the wedding card, proper forms proving that I was only going for the wedding and reunion, and a letter from my workplace that said I would be returning in two weeks. They did not take any of the forms into consideration, and instead asked condescending questions about my husbands business and how successful it really was. When i asked them why they rejected me, their response was that i did not have sufficient proof and that I am not established enough yet. I am not sure what type of establishment they are looking for, but I do know that I left the embassy humiliated and embarrassed. I felt that the interviewer himself was targeting me because of my ethnic background and I got the impression that no matter how good or sufficient my answer was, he had already made up his mind about rejecting me because of my skin color and the fact that I am not a UK passport holder. I definitely do not recommend this embassy because I get the impression they are racist and honestly don't value your time or money. If you have the option to apply for a visa elsewhere, I would go there because at least you will be treated with respect as a person.

Not a nice place at all. I spent over 1000 pounds on a immigrant Visa and medical examination. And was refused. Not even given a chance to ask anything. They won't let you reply with a explanation at all. Yet they are fast enough to take your money. Anyone with a slight conviction forget it. Terrible service and people who run the dam place. Better places to live than USA.. money grabbing xxxts.. corrupt country any way..
