Wish I could give 0 stars. Have never experienced so many challenges when trying to achieve simple things such applying for a parking permit, paying council tax, using the website. Its all just so badly managed and the process for everything you try to do it excessive. I haven't experienced this with other councils in London. Soemthing needs to be sorted here.

Harassed for council tax even though we have not lived there since 2020, despite it "being sorted" over the phone the account is still allocated to me and not the current landlord/tenant. Terrible services in general (had to pay for private bin collection for over 2 years), diabolical website, impossible to contact and unresponsive when and if contacted (work not actually done). Filth and detritus covering the streets, crime skyrocketing, services either sub-par or non existent. Terrible resident feedback (as you can see). A terrifying glimpse into the future of the whole nations local government as we slowly collapse into third world status. Website is a purposeful fortress of obfuscation clearly put in place to prevent residents from resolving issues (aka council doing work).

Get your votes in for "worst council on the planet" now! Don't even bother trying to call them as you will most likely be waiting for 1 million years then get cut off. If you incredibly manage to get thru to someone then they will have no idea what they are doing and will cut you off. Maybe you will have a look at their website? Good luck with that also!

Without a doubt one of the worst councils I have ever experienced, Hackney is amazing compared to them. The website is appalling, confusing and so hard to navigate, you would think deliberately so. I am fairly computer literate but you get lost in a worm hole when you try to connect to them or make a complaint. They seem to live in a fortress and not want residents to get through. I know councils have been hit by austerity but there could be more imagination and intelligent planning going on at all levels especially in the management of green spaces, trees and plants. Terrible.

Honestly, this is Kafkaesque - a bureaucracy that even puts to shame anything Orwell could come up with. This council is enough of a reason to avoid ever moving to this borough. Let’s take the example of parking permits: You need your V5 to officially be registered to your address, and it takes them a week to process a permit, so it takes weeks to apply for a permit, at best. Meanwhile, they give you a parking ticket each day for £65-130 if you park illegally, and there is literally no non-resident parking within a mile of your home (I did check everywhere). So, you find some clever way to park a bit farther and pay £10/day. Assuming you managed to work out everything and applied online, you get no confirmation other than the withdrawal from your PayPal account, and it’s PayPal because paying with a credit card doesn’t work. I just fails. And, the “1 week waiting” isn’t actually a week, and overruns. So, you call the very well-hidden phone number and you wait for a call-back that never arrives. Eventually you decide to stay in the queue for half an hour. The person asks for your address, and name. And, then they hang up…

just tried to purchase some residents parking permits for builders that i have coming to do works i am legally obligated to do and have noticed my visitors parking permits expired in 2020 i have phoned and after a long wait spoke to someone from haringay council who said i can use the expired permits until June 2021 but they would not send me an email as confirmation and proof that i can do this and i do not want to get a parking ticket when the parking warden comes round and sees my permit has expired... they are robbers taking our money in taxes but when it comes to providing a service they are completely and utterly useless... Edit i am adding this and replying here after your PR comments below... it has been 3 weeks and i haven't been able to buy permits from you nor have you replied to my complaint! despite saying it will be dealt within 10 days!

Like other reviews, I've been frustrated for a couple of weeks by the process of trying to get hold of a parking permit when moving into the area. Painful using the web portal, no reply emails, and couldn't get through to anyone in the parking team on the phone. Eventually today I got through today to someone via the general enquiries option, who transferred me to her manager Deborah. She was so helpful and set me up over the phone with everything I needed. Thank you Deborah!

I live very near a cafe. My garden at the back has been rather already affected greatly with noises from their business due to low loud extraction vent which the council approved. Now the cafe decided to open a back garden for their business from next week. It will affect my side further regarding privacy and noises if strangers/thier customers and the staff are in and out. If they are a normal resident and doing occasional gathering and parties in the back garden, that is pretty normal and one can usually bear it because it is not every day all day and evening. I understand how the hospitality business in general has been affected by the virus. I have also been greatly affected by this pandemic in a different way losing more than one I know. However, this plan is rather beyond my understanding. In addition, their landlord's builder told me that the shed in the back garden has asbestos therefore they stopped demolishing it years ago. For safety measure for the customers and my quiet private garden and back room life at my home, I am wishing they could stop using the back area for their business. Their landlard told and promised me the cafe can't use the back garden for business in 2017 and therefore I should have no worries about the business extending into the back garden of the premises. I value peace and quiet in my garden at home. I already have a lot of noises from the cafe to my livingroom due to thinned shared wall, which also the council granted day and evening every day for the last 3-4 years. I lived here for more than 20 years . I am afraid I am not entiry happy with their garden plan the council allows...I sent my concerns to the Haringey council but they seems under this pandemic for the hospitality businesses. Could you care ordinary residents more? Thr cafe with your planing permission in the past and now is greatly affecting my mental health negatively. I am paying nearly 200 pounds council tax a month. What is it for, I wonder... Is that just for collecting rubbish bin? A lot of rubbish come in to my front garden so probably that street cleaning task is not included, I would say. The pavement is widely used for the business and it seems not safe for children and elderly passing by as it is pedestrian's obstruction. I reported but the council didn't do nothing. I am fed up with this council...

Worst council body in London...Oh the most expensive bar Westminster. Council tax, WAY too high. Services are shocking at best. Rubbish collection TWICE a month. Parking restrictions that make no sense or that were enforced due to Haringey STAFF breaking the rules. Bad press after bad press, charging people thousands for extensions that Haringey are forcing them to undergo and buying buildings for 23m when the price was 10m 4 months before. Haringey council and services a absolute joke and I would advise anyone to avoid living under Haringey at all costs!

I can't get through to anyone via there number i was on hold for ages then cut off! I am moving in under a month and wont be under Haringey anymore so need to sort out my council tax/ cancel it. I don't want to just cancel my direct debit but I might have to if I don't hear from anyone. I have also looked on there website and it very unclear about how to go about any of this... so bits of moving to the area but nothing about moving away! I have emailed them so I am just hoping I get some sort of reply but this is really poor service, I know everything is running at a slower pace at the moment but it feels like a lot of people are using the pandemic as a reason to not get back to you.

Trying to get a permit for a new car is insane. I've been on the phone every day this week attempting to sort it out: one day I get told that I need to buy visitor permits until the car is registered to me and can apply for the residents' permit, the following day I get told that I can't buy visitor permits unless I have a residents' permit and so I should apply for a temporary permit, today I get told I can't apply for a temporary permit until the vehicle is in my name. Every time you tell them that their colleague has told you something different you just get an apology along with an insistance that their answer is the correct one. I've spent three hours on the phone to these people over the last few days and they haven't even been able to decide whether I should have a visitor or temporary permit. It's as if this is the first time they've every heard of someone buying a car.

If I could I would have given them 0 star as this is probably the worst council in London. When we moved to the property, it was brand new and the council tax account was not set up yet. It has taken them over 6 months to sort out our council tax and start charging us. After 14 months we moved out of Haringey, they kept chasing us for the outstanding council tax we were not aware of. The whole experience was a disgrace!

Waited 30 mins on the line for an automated message to pop up which asked to leave my number and someone would call me back.. no one rang me back. I ended up ringing again, after 35 minutes a women called stacy picked up the phone with the rudest tone of voice saying the service was unavailable and how she could do nothing about it and to try again another day. when i said 'i've just taken out 30 mins for this' she responded saying 'okay'. Stacy, if you're reading this, maybe double check your attitude before you wake up every morning, we're going through a pandemic and we're all frustrated but darling you've singed up for this job so the least you could do is slap a smile on your face and pretend to be happy. UPDATE - i have now got a call from no caller ID - saying 'hi i dont like the way you spoke to my colleague i will be writing this on your account'. iIS THIS EVEN PROFESSIONAL?! CAN I GET AN EXPLANTATION FOR THIS?! HARINGEY COUNCIL ARE YOU EMPLOYEES ALLOWED TO MAKE THREATENING CALLS LIKE THIS TO MEMBERS?! I WOULD LIKE AN ANSWER.

Very poor service. I have made an application for housing registration 2 months ago but I haven't got any reply. Today when i made a call and spoke to a lady. I was explaining her and she asked me about Refrence number i told her please give me a minute i will find it on my email. It was literaly 20 seconds while I was looking for my Refrence number she hanged up the call. The problem is that they want a relax life sitting on their desks and having chit chat but they don't want to help customers. I will complain to my MP and Haringey mayor.

Been a resident in the area for years and they take forever to get back to you regarding car permits but if you challenge a parking ticket they respond the next day. I was moving house on a Saturday and there was no parking on the street, except for half a space outside my house (because someone didn't move up), so I had to leave my car half on double yellows. I was loading my car up, so instead of leaving my boot open for anyone to steal my stuff, I obviously shut it and locked the car as I went back in for more. They only gave me 8 mins grace period before giving me a fine! It's supposed to be 10! Clearly they declined me challenging this fine.

I've lived in Haringey for 20 years and have found them very difficult to deal with in the past and would be the first to slate them. However, i recently moved house (within the borough) and i've had to deal with the parking, environmental and building control depts at different times. They have all been fantastic and very helpful. It's actually left me a little perplexed. I don't know what has happened at Haringey Council but there has definitely been an improvement in the staff. Maybe it's pot luck! I still think there are a few "bad eggs" who have no interest in helping Haringey residents but in general i have to commend them for sorting out my issues in the last few months.

Dealing with Haringey Council as a resident is to feel despised. In 15 years of living in the borough, I have replaced my car 4 times and never once avoided parking fines by having a parking permit ready on the day the car arrived. They are incapable of providing systems that allow residents to access services they are entitled to. Everything possible is done to deny you direct interaction with them but their conception of online services is laughable. Everything is a one way street. You can pay for things instantly, but every service requires '5 working days' which turns into ten, or more. It is literally like dealing with some insane, Soviet-era Eastern bloc bureacracy. The only way I have EVER gotten anywhere with them is to kick up a fuss, write letters or sneakily find direct contacts to circumvent the labyrinth of incompetence they put up to keep you at arms length. Often one finds people who work there are quite nice and can be very helpful, but you have to wade through sh&t to find yourself talking to that person. Visiting a service centre is to feel like you are in a third world country. Waiting in line for hours to get access to basic services that you are entitled to. God how they must hate us, it's the only explanation.

We would like to thank Amin Hemant for introducing us to Patricia Ashford at London Business Hub and for personally calling me at the start of the pandemic. We have received valuable support during these challenging times. As a local Sign Company in Haringey, we experienced the impact of Covid, but felt really supported by Amin and Patricia in giving us guidance and general information. Many thanks Viviane

Martine Davis from electrics housing department at haringey. You are unprofessional just cant believe it. Had so many men show up at my flat which isnt owned by haringey trying to trick me by getting into my property to do electrics for next door but through my attic. This council is corrupt and the way they treat people is simply shocking. Your ZERO star reviews say it all really! Cant wait to move out of this borough!

This issue has now been dealt by sue marshall who did a great job so although I wish it was possible to contact people directly within the council without having to leave a google review, sue did a great job and now all issues are resolved. Thanks Sue. Same story as everyone else. Ordered visitor parking permits as I just bought a new car and knew resident one would take time. Of course the visitor permits didn’t arrive on time so I’m having to park in a different borough. Still haven’t received them. Used one I had left from a previous order on first day and got a fine anyway. Of course impossible to challenge as literally says That claiming the contravention didn’t happen is not a reason for challenging ticket. How else do I prove I did have a visitor ticket on display? That’s how the mafia works. Paid for residents permit and received no receipt or email confirming. Now I’m just left to wonder when will I be able to park outside my house. Obviously no reply when phoning. Just cuts off. I’ll be seeking legal advice.

I would of given 0 Starts. I parked my Vehicle outside my house and i got a parking ticket for NOT PAYING THE PARKING TICKET. My car has got a valid resident permit displayed on the windshield clearly but the traffic reinforcement office did not bother to look at the permit and gave me a £80 ticket. Trying to appeal but the website does not work. v

Where do I even begin? I’ve never know such lack lustre services. The communications team are appalling. I have been issued with a fixed Penalty car parking charge when I clearly have a permit. The permit is and has always been on display/ left hand side of the windscreen. Your civil enforcement parking officer needs to please have his eyes examined. Perhaps re-training my be required or just a simple eye test and glasses may be adequate enough. I don’t understand how such confusion could arise. It will now take me hours to rectify this because your telephone system is the most pointless service you offer. I mean eventually I might get through to someone who is clueless and will sound half asleep. I’ve not yet spoken to a member of staff who sounds awake, alert and ready to help. Look forward to hearing you.

I've lived in 4 or 5 different boroughs in London and it's mindblowing just how bad Haringey council is. Simple things which other councils do easily online are impossible. I needed to change our parking permit as we got a new car, we weren't allowed to apply straight away even though we had the new keeper slip, and the old permit, we had to wait for the V5 which of course was delayed due to Covid, we were told we had to apply for a temporary permit in the meantime, which cost more for one month than the permit for a whole year. This also took time to arrive and in the meantime we had to borrow permits from neighbours because I couldn't even buy more visitors permits due to their online "system changing" or some such rubbish. I have been waiting over 3 weeks for the permit to arrive after sending them the V5 and then paying for it, the temporary permit runs out in 2 days and I now can't get through to them and have been on hold for hours, twice, every time the recorded message repeats "the wait time is 21minutes" for an hour. We owe our neighbours 10 visitors permits.. The whole thing has now cost nearly 3 times the annual permit. I have wasted so much time with this useless excuse for a system. I will add though it is clearly not the fault of staff, they are working with a stupid old system which needs a complete overhaul. Please sort this out Haringey council, invest in it properly, it's so bad.

The person dealing with the phone call/ customer service needs to be sack. You are dealing with the public who pay their council tax so when we call please take your time to understand what’s happening. You are rude. Job like this ain’t for you. You did not even listen to what been said and you hang up. That was 40 mins wait on the phone for you to hang up. Customer service isn’t your best attribute and in the economic we are living in where people are desperate for help and work you should be replace. If I could I would give you negative stars. 02 November 2020 call at 11:10AM (Woman representative)

My mothers Blue Badge went missing in April. We have applied for a replacement Badge three times. Myself, my sister and daughter all have tried online and each paid £10. It is now mid September. My disabled mother can only walk a few steps. We desperately need this badge and have received a £65 penalty fine for parking on the road. This is despite me putting a photo copy of the old one explaining I am still waiting for a replacement. The missing blue badge expires next month, so it's pointless getting a replacement now. I have ordered a renewal badge another £10. This council really bad from my experience.

The absolute pinnacle of useless. Have had so much trouble with them in the past whenever there's a discrepancy with anything council related but the icing on the cake is putting a temporary parking validation up ON THE DAY work was to be done and towing my car with no forewarning, then when I appeal to get my money back they say the signs were up for 2 weeks with no evidence of their claims whatsoever. So it's my word against theirs and no one has any evidence. This disgusting, greedy council seem to only want to damage their residents rather than help them. Even more ludicrous was the reason given for the towing. They said I was parked on double yellow lines when there aren't any double yellow lines down that road?

The way this council operates is shameful and disgusting. We have been given a FPN for fly tipping outside our own house, which we have never ever done. The notice provided no evidence, a photo or a description of what they might be referring to and we got no answer to our enquiry. The date they provided on the notice was also 3 weeks prior to the date we received the letter, so we can't even trace it back on our camera. I've never thought an official body in the UK could scam its residents in such way and operate in such an authoritarian and unjust way!

If you record a change of circumstances with housing benefit, please be aware that in 9-10 months time you will be slapped with a £1000-£3000 overpayment. You assumed that everything was going to plan as you have not heard from them in almost a year.. NOPE, They have been processing your claim, this has happened to me twice in the last 7 years. This is how long it takes for them to do anything. And the disgrace is, if you were to call them 1. They would not pick up 2. They would give you ZERO information. Ridiculous slow braindead service

Phones lines hang up on every option automatically and website doesn't work when selecting the council tax area. All I want to do is inform the council I'm moving and close my account. I can't even submit an online form without a reference number which I am locked out from seeing on my account! Ridiculous. Parking permits are also overcomplicated to apply for, just to get permission to park on your own street. Sort it out!

Same issue as many on here, almost impossible to get anywhere with anything. I applied to renew my parking permit recently, the service took my money but denied my permit, requesting more info from me which was fine, i issued the information requested but got nothing back.
