Worst service beyond imagination, They have a 0 contact policy towards the local resident, tired to informing them that I am moving online, no response; emailed them, no reply; tried to call them, no body is picking up. What a joke of a council, the Apex of how the government oppress and mistreat the people, absolutely shameful.

Completely appalling people. The dustman took our black dustbin and it never returned. Looked high and low for it, to no avail. The blue bin dustman told us 45 minutes later that occasionally the bin is gobbled up by the mechanism in the truck. There was no other explanation. Barnet Council refuse to rep[lace the bin gratis and said if I did not have proof of this happening we would have to pay for another bin. All you Barnet people remember to make sure your CCTV cameras are positioned to check what the dustman are doing. Talk about trash, I mean Barnet Council employees of course.

I was trying to contact the council regarding my council tax refund. Using the contact details sent with the council letter simply won't work: the email ceased to be functioning, phone calls cut off after playing recorded message. If there is 0 star, that's should be more appropriate.

If I could give 0 stars I truly would. Dealing with Barnet Council with regards to a noise complaint has been nothing short of diabolical. They offer 0 guidance, 0 time and 0 support for innocent human beings being poorly treated. I can't put into words how poor this council really is. I feel sad that I have had to deal with them and feel sorry for the future individuals who will have to deal with them. I think it says it all that the overall average rating for Barnet Council is 1 star. I would say 'please avoid' but sadly if you have an issue which you have to involve the council with and you live in Barnet then I'm sorry but you have to deal with them! Atrocious.

Barnet street service department – has useless, unprofessional and lying staff. Three times I requested to speak to a manager from this department, and for all three times, I’ve been told that a manager will call me in a specific time-frame. In fact, I’ve been lied to as no one call me back. The name of the manager who supposed to contact me is Donna. SHAME ON YOU Barnet street service department!

Only tried to talk on phone, almost impossible to get a person on the other end. Will adjust council tax benefit the second you earn more than normal, won't readjust when you start earning less and won't help you get it sorted. Online forms are confusing, nobody on the phone to assist. During this pandemic they are taking almost £200 a month, which is more than my weekly furlough, while I'm here eating bread crusts with barely any money left

Absolutely disgusting establishment. After receiving a bus lane fine which I appealed i was promised a reply within 14 days but I got no response. Fast forward 1 year and they had completely ignored my appeal and passed my details onto a debt collecting agency, to which put me under extreme stress. I got a statutory declaration which quashed the debt collectors debt and I replied to barnet council who have now took it upon themselves to reply to my appeal (a year later) and re issue the fine. Absolutely abhorrent. Fleecing money out of the working man especially given the circumstances. How do these people sleep at night. CROOKS!!!!!!

I refuse to believe than there is another council worse than Barnet Council. They respond to nothing and there is no way of contacting them at all. Barnet Council, you are a disgrace to the borough and there is no surprise that it has become such a horrible place to live when it's run by people who couldn't care less. Wake up and start caring about the people who's money you happily take!

A bunch of different issues, none resolved. Emailed, phoned, talked in person, contacted the MP and 14 months later and still can't get an answer to any problem I've faced since moving to the area. The whole point of their existence is to serve the constituents who pay for the privilege of living there. They simple don't hold up their end. I had to isolate due to suspected COVID at my residence, and I contacted them about parking during this time. Long story short, I had to drive around between active permit hours to avoid PCNs, because I can't park outside my own flat, which is the only property without off-street parking in the area. That was 4 weeks ago, no response. Waste collection services refuse to take correctly sorted waste, and left the food waste bin broken when left out for collection. Basically, you pay your council tax, and they don't provide you with any services or respect you enough to reply to any contact.

I have to agree with everyone here - I'm due a council tax refund, the website has been down for days and I can't get through to anyone on the phone. When I finally did, they said "we don't deal with council tax, you've got the wrong number". I said: "ah sorry about that, but could you please give me the number for-" and they put the phone down!! How much are these people on a year? I'm absolutely disgusted by my experience with this shoddy organisation. Dreadful.

Dreadful service. The website is a rabbit warren as is the phone service. It's almost impossible to speak to a human and when you think you've finally found your way through, you are told by an automated voice to go to the website and thank you for calling. Apparently the Council is fully inclusive! Don't know who they think they're kidding.

My boyfriend and I moved to this council area in March, we’re both students so should be exempt from council tax. I applied for this online and it took 2 months to sort (countless emails and phone calls where I was unable to get through to a person, only robotic options on a loop). Eventually we received the letter saying we are exempt and a refund for payments that we had to make while they sorted themselves out. Two months later (June) I’ve been receiving emails and texts from them saying we’re overdue and missed payments for council tax, I can’t sign into the online service because it is “under refurbishment” and I can’t get through to anybody on the phone. It’s a joke! I’ve never had to deal with such a bad unorganised council.

There is no such thing as customer care/service when it comes to phoning Barnet council. Not had a grey bin collection now for over 3 weeks. The web site clearly states my bin collections are on a Saturday morning, weird it never happens. The blue recycling bin is emptied as per web site. Phoning the council is a nightmare even before you can speak to an unhelpful person. A rude surly woman told me 4 times my bin collections were on a Monday, stating she was looking at the website as we spoke. Decided her appalling attitude was not worth the time and hung up and called back. A nice man said oh yes your collections are on a Saturday. Apparently no supervisor/ manager is employed to oversee the inept phone operators. The truck just passed my grey bin, within 10 feet. I asked the men why my bin is being ignored, was told don't do yours and just drove off. The recycling crew are great and empty blue bin every week.

The Planning department are useless, I wish the government lets private companies take over planning as they did with Building Control. The councils can not cope and its affecting and delaying many homeowners wishing to improve there homes and in turn improve the housing stock in the local area.

I can't check my council tax bills online because my account doesn't work. I have been emailing and calling them for over 3 months. They never answer the emails, calling them is a nightmare, almost impossible to talk to anyone and when you do, they are completely useless. A real nightmare.

Reported a dead fox in our garden on Thursday on Barnet Council's website and payment of £63 was instantly taken with a promise for collection of the dead animal within 24 hrs. Nobody came to collect it and the dead animal began rotting in our front garden 2 metres from our front door. Every time I try to call Barnet Council, I am put through from one answer phone with options, to another answer phone with options. I could literally not get through to speak to a human being to even ask what has happened to the collection of a dead animal service we have paid them for. Have tried again today and after 20 mins of being put through to yet another 5 options, I spoke to someone... they have "reported" it to their supervisor. And 30 mins later THEY COLLECTED IT!!

We've just had awful experiences with them. Continuously over 3 months since moving into our new home, my daughter has called up the benefits line to get an update on my housing benefit application but we have always been told that my application and documents were being processed. The case was even escalated a few times and we were told to wait a couple more days. After my daughter called several more times throughout May and June, she was finally told that there was no application on their system for our address (which we moved into in April) and that we should fill out another application and submit it again. It is outrageous that we were informed of this over 2 months after having applied for housing benefit and continuously chasing up. We immediately submitted another application and supplied additional documents. I received yet another email in July which stated that I had not given in a couple more documents although I had previously provided these. Nevertheless, I took these documents to be scanned again at Barnet House in Whetstone. I have had to pay three months of my rent of £1300 from my credit card and overdraft for which I am also paying interest - I am heavily in debt with the bank due to this and cannot afford to buy food or cover our daily expenses. What we are very upset about and are complaining about is that why should the procedure of assessing a housing benefit application take three months to assess. It is ridiculous. It's shocking, we have not yet, to this day, received any housing benefit payments.

Absolutely horrendous ordeal to try and sort out a very straightforward matter. Trying to contact them will send you round the bend. The website is beyond user unfriendly, and when I finally spoke with a human and gave some feedback on the misleading information in the website she put the phone down on me... That’s customer service for you! So glad my taxes have gone up to pay for her wages.

I approached Haringey and Barnet homes for help, I had the worst experience with Barnet homes. Disgusting attitudes toward people in need, especially my trainee housing officer Wasim Hai, was doing his best to not help me. Barnet Homes should hire people with housing experience not ex Sainsbury workers. whenever I went to Barnet homes, I felt discriminated and humiliated , Trainee officers think, they are better than everyone else the fact is they are Not . I made complain to the Manager regarding my experience and as I was expected, it didn’t go anywhere. I am going to run a campaign against Barnet homes, hopefully I will get the support of Cllr Caroline Stock.

Absolutely the worst Council about. No one (honourable exception Highways Department) ever answers the phone. Planning doesn’t even bother to pick up the phone, being permanently on answerphone. After half an hour wasted (cost?) waiting to move up from second to first in a queue after being put through from Highways on my third attempt to reach Planning I finally hung up. The reputation for ‘Easy Council’ like Easy Jet is spot on. Services run by Capita are an absolute disgrace and an insult to residents who pay Council tax. Worse than useless. Utter, utter disgrace.

They staff are extremely unprofessional and they don't know anything they give wrong advice to the customers and they send the customers wrong directions because they don't know their job and some of the staff are rude and very very slow in doing their job and the council has a star RATING of 1.2 ) I think even that is really too much it really should be a big ZERO for the service that they provide.

WHY, oh WHY oh WHY can't you speak to anyone directly, instead of always being directed to the website? if you try and access the website, the navigation is very poor, and you can't always find what you are looking for. they have NEVER replied to my questions, so what kind of people does the council employ? presumably, they believe they are indispensable, and not accountable to anyone. try phoning at 16.30 to the switchboard, and they have all gone home! if I ran my business as the council does, I would soon go bust. the council has a monopoly on collection of COUNCIL TAX, and woe betide you if you don't pay....you end up in jail!!!! THEY GET MONEY FOR NOTHING, AND DO NOT CARE WHAT LEVEL OF SERVICE IS PROVIDED. try and contact the leader of the council, and you are connected to a flunky who just talks WEASEL words, and is full of excuses. this is NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!

Awful, unhelpful and unprofessional Council! I am wondering how people vote for people who do nothing to their area. The only goal for Council of Barnet is money making process. What happens to the people though? Obviously, no one cares. In other countries in Europe people vote for people and those people try to fix things to make life better in their areas. This is definitely not the case in BB. Their employees are very rude and ignorant; they threaten you and lie in order to force to pay, even if they are wrong; they do not know and understand any legal principles and treat people as they are their slaves - who must pay for everything. Disappointing borough. Waiting when I am going to leave this area.

they are ever ready to collect money in form of business rates, council tax etc and in return they dont even answer phone calls! if they do their staff is rude and misleading - always passing the buck.
