I do not believe haringey council deserves the one star! Very atrocious service. I tried to renew my parking permit online and it came up with a note saying that I was unable to complete the request online so I called and done it over the phone. This was on 2nd July 2020. The payment left my account on the 6th. I called them Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday only to be told they cant find the payment on their system! And I must send an email. I didn't hear anything, so I called again and was told someone will get back to me this morning. Still nothing and I'm receiving PCNS each day! I just want my money or my permit!!!! But when they want council tax money they dont hesitate to contact you about that! !HARINGEY COUNCIL ARE THE WORSE BOROUGH EVERRRRRRRRR

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have never been approached in such a rude way, every question I made was answered unclearly and the tone and words used by the customer service officer just made feel like they were not trying to help at all. Unfortunately this review won’t change anything, but it is just sad that people have to go through a 30 minutes waiting queue to be treated this way.

I gave up trying to contact Haringey Council by phone when I needed to. Have done so in the past, ending with a huge phone bill without being able to speak to a human. In the mean time, whoever runs their Twitter account, has been thoroughly and diligently getting back to me which is quite a progress.

I have never experienced a website or phone line as bad as Haringey Council. I have recently moved into the area and have been trying to pay my council tax for over a month. Currently the website has not accepted my account reference number even though it has clearly been entered correctly. Phone lines are open at ridiculous times with long wait times. Cannot believe the poor state of this council compared top previous boroughs i have lived in.

Very poor, rude and helpless costumer service. When they don’t know how to help you out with issues that only the council can solve or, they don’t want to be bothered to do it, they just hung the phone off your face while you are seeking their help. Very bad impressed.

If i could I would give them no stars... The rudeness that comes from staff is just a joke, don't fix nothing, don't update you with information that is needed, don't get anywhere when you go down to the housing, most of the workers look like they don't wanna be there, unfriendly place, been waiting 4 years to be moved out of temporary accommodation with no help, even when you email the people your suppose to, no one can't be bothered to even email you back just keep getting told be are busy ???? but quick enough when they want their rent tho that's the only time people can be bothered to call or email you or even turn up to your front door ????????????????

I watched a cant pay we will take it away programme which involved an eviction of a family. The response from Haringey council homeless team was out of order. I was angered more that as a council you had declined to comment on this issue. Why would you not comment if you were confident you had made the right decision and supported a family with children. Your staff member was suggesting helping the two young children and not the adults. Why separate a family at a time like this. I'm shocked but can see the trend in the reviews. Clearly most things remain unresolved and people are unhappy.

One of the WORSE council in the planet. They gave me a PCN ticket, which is fine. I appealed and was advised that my MITIGATING CIRCUMSTANCES were not to their satisfaction. So an old lady who is a permanent heart patient with a visible slit on her chest that couldn't walk to the parking was not MITIGATING enough?! So much for understanding! Why don't you just remove the option for appeal to stop wasting people time!!

Literally cannot speak to anybody. I have spent over 6 hours in queues to speak to somebody this week, every time they end with being hung up on after >30 minutes waiting. Cannot pay my council tax as my address isn't in system, cannot speak to anybody to get on the system. When I am not in queue they just 'cannot take my call at the moment'. Very good at sending me court summons, not very good at being able to do anything about them including EVER pay my council tax.

I have a question which I cannot answer myself looking through the website info. If you get past the myriad of options all referring you to the website eventually someone answers who cannot answer your question because that person is just a generic phone answerer. They are polite and tell you someone will call you back. Guess what? Nobody calls you back!

No stars. Tried to phone the council today. Not one phone option will get you through to a human, all recorded messages. Emailed three time, no response. The council has worked out that it can hide behind its website and never have to deal with the people who pay their wages, so much for local democracy and accountability. You would have thought after the murder of Victoria Columbie and Baby Peter would want to try a bit better, but no it's just the usual corrupt and incompetent council.

Got PCN from them, challenge option just doesn’t work online three days in the row, once you filled all of the fields, wrote description why you disagree with them, add pictures, then get message - “Sorry, an error occurred. Please try later” Good job guys, best way not to do anything at work, just drink coffee and talk to each other, don’t worry about people’s rights!

Just a bad experience with the system ... Received a Charge Certificate for a PCN with an extra 50% increase penalty and its UNFAIR and UNJUST because I NEVER received the notification letter from council . And now I can not talk with nobody at the council about it, they send me to contest it online but I can not challenge it because the 28 days are past ... just absurd , no email , no phone number , not even a person to help with information to what to do next and now I have to pay 3 times the amount that I would had paid if I had the notification on time ... why should that be my fault ? Update : I couldn’t find the email neither in inbox or junk , but when I went to the payment page the update was made , thank you !

I called the Haringey Council just now regarding my council tax and I have spoken with a pretty rude old lady. I contacted them because I am new in my house and I have found a big amount as outstanding in my account. I asked her if the payment was meant to be monthly and first she said yes, then no, it covers the period from December to March. Anyway I asked her to repeat and she literally huffed and repeated the info annoyed. At every further question she was turning more annoyed such as I was disturbing her at the point that I shouted ironically sorry if I don't understand. Sorry if I expect you to do the job you are paid for not necessarily with fake courtesy but at the least with some politeness. I hope to not need to to call this service again. Unbelievable .

Have completely changed the telephone system .all the extension numbers that I had for over 20 years no longer exist. The really helpful operators that used to answer all the calls have been .MADE redundant. WHAT A SHAMBLES OF A COUNCIL. ENFIELD AND ISLINGTON STILL HAVE OPERATERS. Worse council in the world. Extremely difficult to get through on phoned also the way the speak to you sound like they dont care and when you do, they don’t action what they said they would do. Happened twice for the same issue. Which still hasn’t been resolved weeks after. they told me to send them a student letter and i been sending more than 6 time and they still not doing anything and now i got a letter criminal offence and will result in a fine payable by me which isnt fair

Worst council ever. It is impossible to talk to them on the phone. I have wasted my time and my energy by trying to contact them on different number. The people working there should be ashamed to represent a council. I have appealed l for a parking ticket more than a month ago and since I did not hear from them. I can get hold on the phone and cannot pay for my ticket anymore either. My reference number is: TF00867284 if case someone read that. I have tried many times to call them today. Firstly in a queue, twice I have phoned during working hours and have had a recorded message telling me to call back at another time. I have received a letter informing me that I owe them money for Council tax and failure to pay will result in legal proceedings. I am completely up to date with my Council Tax payments. It's extremely stressful being threatened with legal proceedings.

I’ve lived in 5 different councils in over 15 years in London and Haringey Council is awarded hands down the absolute worst award for its customer service. Honestly the phone staff are shocking, they know nothing about anything and only suggest to come on down to the lovely new council office in Tottenham to get your questions answered. Don’t try come down for a chin wag at the weekend though because they are shut. Long wait times to be passed around in circles to various different bodies who scarily specialise in there own departments.

Absolutely disgusting customer service. Waited 50 minutes to talk to an adviser. A genuine inquiry met with the most utter disrespect and condescending tone, which was completely uncalled for by this Caribbean sounding lady! I am surprised she did not start shouting. I have never witnessed customer service this atrocious in any service and to think this is a government agency, what a disgrace!

Disgraceful. After waiting a good 45 minutes in the “queue” I got through to somebody who waited till I said “Hello” 3 times and extremely rudely said took a big sigh and said “what” instead of helping. I then asked for some help to which his reply was “what is it how can I help” which isn't the most unprofessional, disgraceful and disrespectful part of the shambolic call. That part was when after I told him my problem he immediately said in a very disgruntled way (after another loud sigh, by the way), “you need to be transferred then.” My issue was in regards to a parking charge and I was on a parking charge line, so that was a clear lie and instead I was taken back to the start of the phone call process where you “click 1 for x option.” 1 star is far to many.

I genuinely cannot believe such individuals have been hired,.. who are the recruiting bodies? Because this is extremely concerning! I would say avoid there service at all cost, but residents have no options do they...

I wish I could give it 1 star. The service is terrible, phone lines are ALWAYS busy, changing any details on council tax/parking permits is practically impossible. Its hard enough to find the correct phone number as they want everything to be completed online, yet do not have a good system in place to do it. I've had to change my car twice since living in Haringey and its more hassle than buying a new one! It takes ages to be processed and often comes back with faults, (often misread by the parking permit team), they will not process it over the phone and you can't even reply to the email they sent, so have to send a completely new submission. APPALLING!

I'm paying so much council tax here, it's unreal and when I try to contact them about some of rhe services that my daughter may be entitled to, they made it so difficult. I'm paying in more and receiving less support or services from the council. When I discussed this with them, one of the advisors told me, I should stop working and go on benefits, so that I can obtain a discount on my council tax. Whether on the phone or in person, I found the service cold and unsupportive. Isn't the council supposed to be supporting local residents? In my experience, not this one. What will it take to change this? I gave the review one star, but perhaps zero would be more accurate.

Not surprised the Council's rating is so low based on my experience. Wrote to the head of traffic management about our cpz, no reply, wrote again special delivery, no reply! Wrote to local MP, she got a reply, not from the head though! Cpz is still a shambles, consultation is a joke.

Pretty much impossible to get through to on the phone, and email contact takes weeks on end. Seems like they're understaffed potentially - it's all fine if everything is routine, but if you need to make any amendments/exceptions then that seems to be where they really fall down.

I send in proof of income, they miscalculate everything, on two separate occasions plus now I 'owe' them for their poor mathematic skills?! I'm made liable to correct their faults?? I've been trying to get through to customer services but they're 'not available' so why do you have these options on the call why waste time?? The online systems a joke too it simply requests you to email (which they never answer) call (which tells you to check online) or go in person (which I cannot do) or send a letter (which is a waste of resources when I literally live in the borough?!) They need to stop hiring friends of workers and people who sit around talking to each other as though their on a reality programme, they need to begin hiring people who are EFFICIENT and SKILLED for the job. Workers arent there to socialise their there to WORK, I'm very sure they would get double of what they get done now if they learnt some work ethics and were considerate of people who spend over an hour in the waiting room waiting to get called. Do your job or get replaced simple!

I'm living in a house what is infected with mold. It is starting to effect my health and my GP told me I have mold related allergy. I also have rats in the house but that has been solved. I have had flood 2 times within six months. Since then the mold and damp is unbearable. My landlord when I ask him for help is ignored me or abused me verbally. I went to the council and ask them to help me. They reduced my housing benefit and no positive action taken from their side. Haringey council thanks for the STRESS!!!!

Called and emailed numerous times regarding my council tax, as they have mistakenly sent me summons and a court date for next week, and I still can't find anyway to get hold of them!!! Was on hold for 38 minutes once, just to be told by the woman that she doesn't know and I should email again, despite having already emailed and called prior to this. I asked what I should if no one replies to me in time and she said she didn't know. Emailed and called numerous times last month and still waiting for a reply and court date is next week!!!!!!!

Simply awful, rude and unhelpful staff, nothing gets done, even when you get mp's involved, this council seems to be untouchable and get away with anything. Waste money on nonsense, but ignore more important things that need sorting out, do not care about their tenants one bit, just taking in as much money as poss from rent and parking, shambles.

Just had a 25 minute phone call with an incredibly kind and diligent employee who went by the name of Michael. He gave me loads of answers and support into my query and has shed a lot of light into what was a very stressful situation. After seeing all the negative reviews on Google I was hugely surprised to speak someone so attentive who clearly really cares.

Unfortunately the council is totally dysfunctional. Sometimes it's possible to get through on the phone, and despite some people there being extremely helpful and trying their best to help, they are completely undermined by the system they are working in. In my experience the attempt to try to separate the council from those they are obliged to provide services to using technology - the Haringey Council Website - only makes matters a lot worse and is a very questionable approach to take considering their prime purpose is to fullfil services to the residents of Haringey, who are the people contributing financially towards it's very existence.

I called about two month ago to report a lamp post threatening to fall as it was hit by a car. The lady on the phone said she will have it dealt with... 2 months later the issue has still not been fixed and the lamp post is now leaning at a really bad angle waiting to fall on someone so I called again to check on the matter. That's when I really began to understand the true meaning of the word "useless"... My last resort has been to call 999, the fire brigade turned up within literally 5 minutes shocked to see that such an issue had not been taken in consideration earlier. This is London, it's 2020. Wake up Haringey Council, the streets are dirty and the roads are covered in pot holes, get a team out in the streets and get it fixed! We are the tax payers and we are not getting a good service in return at all.

I totally agree with the other reviews, I tried renewing my parking permit and to my surprise the same issues I had last year and the year before still exist, for whatever reason it wont ever allow me to renew online which makes life very difficult considering when you're at work its difficult to call however when you do call it could take hours until you're seen by anyone however having said that I had the pleasure of being out through to a gentleman named Tim who was very, very helpful and managed to sort out my permit within the same day! I wish all staff within the council were as friendly and polite as him
