I really love the Yamaha Music store! Hundreds of brand new high quality musical instruments, each available to try. Big exposition of traditional pianos on the 1st floor.

I was absolutely blown away by both the shop in Soho as well as the service. The building is stunning and it really demonstrated to me how serious Yamaha are taking things. I have several Yamaha guitars in my collection and have been playing the brand for over twenty years, so I already know how good they are. I spoke to Gabri over the phone about what I was looking for in a guitar and he actually suggested the guitar I ended up buying. This has never happened before, I guess he is really that good at his job! The other thing I need to mention is that he was never ever even approaching 'pushy' at any point during my time in the shop. He left me when I needed it and came back when it was appropriate, I don't know how he knew how to do this, but he was very professional and friendly in the perfect way. He had a collection of instruments already there in the room for me and also took me over to the wall display where the rest of the range were located and he was more than happy to let me pick them off the wall and compare them all. The shop was quiet at the time and I wanted to not play in one of the soundproof rooms as I think they aren't a true reflection of the environment I would typically play in, but there were plenty of places to try the guitar if I wanted a little more privacy. Not only that, but he also went back to pick up one of the model variations I was interested in so I could be sure I was getting the guitar I was looking for. At my request he also turned the music off in the shop so I could get an uninterrupted listen to the sound. I have every confidence that if you are looking for a special guitar that Yamaha can provide it. I am also confident that if you go to the headquarters in Soho you will have a wonderful experience. Gabri was highly experienced and knowledgeable, telling me all of the unique qualities about the instruments I was interested in. He was also very personable and friendly. Making both my partner and myself comfortable and happy to be there. Thank you Yamaha and Gabri. I now have one of the finest guitars ever.

Lovely building and location. Staff let you get on with looking around and no pressure. In fact they all seem very chilled. One member of staff spoke to us on the top floor with the pianos. He was pleasant and friendly. The building was super hot but it was super hot outside. A nice historic building and the piano salesperson was happy to tell us about the past of the building. Great selection of items although would have liked to have seen more brass out and would like a practice booth.

Very helpful and informative members of staff. Variable knowledge base of the different piano models between colleagues however. I would have liked to hear more customised advice based on my needs.

Limited in average real pianos, but with a selection of 60k+ expensive grand pianos. As an "all in one" shop for Yamaha's music department, you don't get their full selection of instruments, like a small strings department (classical) and only 2 electronic drum kits you can play. They also have synthetic/keyboards and other instruments. Yamaha downstairs have all their guitars, and there are a lot of them, although a lot of them are the same body shape. Shop nice and cool. Feels nice to be in.

The staff really made sure that you were happy with your purchase. They talled through different options and I was even allowed to try before buying (however I purchased something at lower end of price range).

Great store. Amazing selection of instruments for every level / budget. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience choosing my new guitar. Guitar shops can feel a little cliquey and uncomfortable, but this was nothing like that. Special mention to Marco, who asked all the right questions in a very friendly chat to find out my requirements - let me choose a couple of my own to try and then blew me away with one that he suggested based on my needs and style. I went to a few other shops to have a look around and try a few more guitars, but nothing came close the quality and sound of this one and the service that came with it. And on top of all that, the price of the guitar came in at over £100 less than I'd seen it online and he gave me a further £80 off a hardcase to go with it. 5 stars doesn't do it justice.

Used to be one of my favourite shops as loved the huge sheet music selection. It’s now a tiny part of the store. So disappointing ????

Well travelling from Folkestone to Yamaha in London was a complete waste of time, upon my arrival your staff could not have been less interested in assisting me and when approached the assistant just didn't have the expertise to help me in selecting the right Xeno trumpet which brings me to the next issue, your sight mentions all the pro trumpets that you have in store except you don't there was only 4 of which three were silver and no Xeno in yellow brass. For a top quality shop and for the name of Yamaha this was simply not good enough, I shall be spending my £2,500 somewhere else

I recently purchased a Yamaha YTS82ZASP from them. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. They gave me a room and brought me all the horns I wanted to try and really gave some of the best service I've had in a shop, of any kind, in a long time. This place has to be on your list if you are hunting for a new or used sax.

Was trying to look for a new piano but 2 piano department staff asked me not to disturb another lady who is going to buy a piano from them. They asked me not to try the piano when the lady is trying. Not going to buy at your shop then.

Excellent service! As soon as my seven year old and myself walked in, we were greeted with a smile. We needed a particular violin book and shoulder rest. The lady knew exactly what was needed and the prices were the same as any other music shop across the UK. Won't hesitate to visit again!????

Awful experience. Staff didn't know what they were talking about. Tried two Piccolos which were unplayable. Pads not sealing, swollen cork so head joint didn't fit. Not a shop for musicians to buy products or get information or advice.

A good selection of Yamaha Music's products are available to try and buy. This won't be the cheapest place to get them and not every instrument is on display. It might be worth phoning to check the stock if you are making a special journey. I bought the instrument online and saved a load.

All in all, pretty hopeless for a music shop dedicated to selling only Yamaha instruments! Went to look at the range of drums available & talk about set-up options. A few sales staff preoccupied on computers on their own - had to grab one to get his attention to find where drum section was. Just three display kits on view, asked about set-up options with salesman in the department. Was advised this was best to do online, couldn't tell me anything about the differences between the kits. Couldn't easily inspect the kit parts myself as they were 'on display'. Presumably they don't want to let players try the equipment because of the disturbance it'd cause for other visitors.... but upstairs you can try a whole range of pianos! Very much a Yamaha piano shop with 'oh we do these instruments as well!' - approach. Asked about Timpani: Was told 'we have some in the back room on the top floor'. Went there and found a pair, but no price info. Friendly assistant in the piano dept went on line to get the prices. No knowledgable person available to talk about them. Very disappointed!
