Okay but apart from hand gel there was no cleaning of areas that had previously had people in and no screens up other than the bar. Not much social distancing at all really.

Great food and a nice ale. Staff on Sunday afternoon were very friendly and helpful. Looking forwards to going again. Could do with a bit more cauliflower cheese with the mains.

Because we were a large party we had to place our food orders in advance. Our tables were booked for half 7, but the food (that should really have been ready shortly after 7:30 considering it was preordered) didn't come out for an hour, and then the bride to be's meal came out wrong and was another 15 minute wait for that to be amended. Can honestly say that the sausage and mash I had was so over powered by the gravy that it was not pleasant to eat. To make up for the error with the bride's meal, this was not charged for. Staff were very polite and apologetic. Decor is awesome in all its art deco glory.

Great place right in the heart of Brighton. Menu is all about comfort food so don't go here looking for a light meal or salad, think mac and cheese or a dirty burger. Bar selection is good too, they do a great selection of beers and gins. Nice and comfortable in the front room and they also have some family friendly (during the day) booths out the back, good for people with toddlers.

This place feels a bit cold, like it wants to be posh but doesn't offer a wide variety of cocktails. However the music was nice and service was really good.

Good atmosphere and decor I think it was better before the refurb but still a great place to grab a gin.

I’ve lived in Brighton for 8 years and this is absolutely the worst experience I have had at a pub in the city. We took family for lunch, service took over an hour and the bar staff couldn’t care less. When the food arrived, some items were outright burnt or cold. Food overall was in no way worth the wait. Despite other customers receiving refunds and free drinks for late or forgotten food orders, bar manager gave us some excuse for no refund. Another member of staff promised us free drinks which never arrived. Staff are rude, dismissive and full of excuses. This used to be a great place and has gone massively downhill since it’s latest refurb. Will not be going back until it’s inevitably under new management again. Much like the equally terrible The Walrus, this place is sterile and soulless, designed only for the seafront tourist crowd who won’t care if it’s actually good or not.

As I've said elsewhere, there are three ingredients which differentiate a pub (working-class) from a bar (upper-middle-class, elitist, seeking to exclude sections of the population). Namely a pool table, a quiz-games machine, and a jukebox. When this was a pub, it had a quiz machine and compensated for the lack of a jukebox by airing a genuinely tasteful selection of music (mostly). Now it's been redecorated in a repellant, stereotypically "posh"/"right-wing", fashion, and...the quiz machine is gone. Take my example and disinvest.

One of the best pubs in Brighton. Comfortable and warm. Great Christmas decorations.

Horrendously overpriced beers (£7 for a pint) and the food was mediocre for what we paid. Mayonnaise given to us had clearly been left out for ages (had that oily glaze all over it). The decor has been done up very well since I last visited but given the prices and standard of food we will not be returning.

Good place this. Lots of good beer to choose from. Even more gin and tonics (the watermelon one was sensational). Had a burger here as well which was good. Gets busier on Friday/Saturday night. Only reason for the four stars is the lack of seating, which I can only put down to a poor use of space. Big place, hardly any seats.

Wonderfully redesigned in the format of it's 1960s style with the bar back in the centre of the pub as was back then. Tasteful interior design . Fond memories from the swinging sixties.

Two stars. I am a regular at the Seven Stars, most weekends especially since the refit. A great venue but let down by the staff - I used to be thoroughly impressed by the turn out of Ledenhosen of this behind the bar but recently standards have slipped and they no longer wear the smart, fun uniform. To the management: PLEASE BRING BACK THE LEDERHOSEN, it's widely regarded in Brighton as the best part of the Seven Stars experience.

Had to wait forever for our food, when it arrived half of it was burnt and what was edible was hardly worth the wait. We were promised a free round of drinks as an apology but this never turned up. When we got tired of waiting and complained on our way out the only thing they could offer was another promise of free drinks, even though it was clear we didn't want to stick around any longer. Everyone else in the pub was complaining of similarly poor service. This pub was awesome when they had Blue Smokehouse doing the kitchen but it's gone downhill ever since they got rid of them, and now it seems the service has got worse as well. Not going back.

We had an evening in this pub 25/4/18. The vegan food in this pub is outstanding!!!! Really amazing. The pub has lots of character, and gas a safe and cozy feel. The evening DJ was great and the staff and the door staff were friendly , efficient and professional. This place is wonderful, really outstanding!!!!

This place is awesome! Good drinks on tap, and the live jazz music was brilliant when we dropped in on Saturday night. Super lively, everyone enjoying or involving themselves, people swing dancing on the tiny square of a dance floor. It's a pretty heartwarming atmosphere! Go here!

Went here for some beer and food. Nice ambience though a bit loud. Unfortunately, they have a policy about not accepting US credit cards which require a signature. It’s embarrassing when trying to buy a round of drinks for my friends. I wouldn’t have come but we were already settled so I borrowed some cash from a friend. I was only here a few days for a conference so I didn’t have cash myself. Don’t let politics get in the way of enjoying a beer.

First time coming here but I really enjoyed it, it’s a nice cozy place to chill out with friends and have a beer. Nice that it’s right in the centre too which means everything is easily accessible for when you decide to head off somewhere else.

Lost all of its great features since the refurb... No more craft beer, exciting gins or great drinks range. The atmosphere is also much worse with music too loud to actually have a conversation (and no space to dance if that's what you want!). The service at the bar is also not great, my partner had to wait a long time to be served. Overall, my recommendation would be to avoid.

Love this place a must for people who like craft beer. Possibly a bit commercial but still authentic. Also do good Gin and tequila selection. Food is good, would class as casual/snack food. Overall one of my favourites pubs/bars in Brighton

If you like Gin then the drinks here are fantastic, with a very wide selection of spirits and mixers available. They do plenty of other drinks too, although they are typically slightly worse value. To top it off overall it is well priced and the bar staff are all knowledgeable too. Food is very good. Only criticism is the music is usually too loud, meaning you struggle to converse with people sat near you, which is surely half the point of this type of place?

Before the refurb, it was quite a nice place to hang out with friends and have a couple of drinks. It has completely changed my view after last night experience. If I could give zero stars I would. The drinks were overpriced, staff were rude , dismissive and arrogant. I appreciate that it was busy at the bar(about two customers before us) but waiting for more than 30 minutes to be served is not acceptable. It has completely put us off from ordering another drinks. My other friend decided to get a couple of drinks for us. After a long long wait at the bar, she finally got a female bar staffs attention. Weirdly she got ID-ed despite the fact that we all had been checked when we got in. She showed her ID and wanted to order three drinks, the female staff asked her to show all three ID. I've never experienced this in any bar in Brighton, but fair enough. So she said she would only get one beer for herself. Then the staff decided to dismiss her and serve other customers. She waited for another 15 minutes, and while that female staff were serving another person (which also got a couple of drinks for their friends but DIDNT get Id) my friend asked "why didn't they get ID-ed?" The female bar staff angrily responded " you cant speak to me like this, you have to go" and kicked her out of the bar. And frankly this is quite ridiculously unfair and racist towards my friend. This is not okay in this day and age.

We had a great time in here. We took a beer and thr atmosphere was nice with an excellent gig. The service was also excellent: I ordered a half pint but the waiter misunderstood and gave me a pint and he just charged a half pint. Very friendly and commercial. I recommend it
