Visited for a Sunday roast. Food was fabulous.... service however absolutely needs improvement. The staff were lovely but we weren't looked after at our table and twice I was ignored at the bar.... shame really. We will be back it's just a shame about service.

By chance, a friend and I went to Hove Place on a Saturday night in November. The bar was full and buzzing but there was another level with comfortable seating and we were able to order a bottle of wine and food.
I wanted just a steak and salad but there was no salad! Instead I had a somewhat fatty soaked steak and chips in a little steel pot. We asked for tomato ketchup and were given little dishes of some sort of handmade blended and not a great taste and not very blended. We each had a big bone decorating our plates ....? But our waiter was great - Lewis. I should hv read the menu too as that steak cost £35! Overall hey did well with not enough staff.
But the whole place had a good vibe and the Winter Garden looks inviting!
Will definitely visit again and choose any food more wisely!

Great pub slightly hidden off the main street. Large beer garden out back with heaters for winter and extensive outdoor space for summer. Great selection of beers and cosy interior. Recommended place to catch up with friends!

We visited Hove Place as part of a work anniversary party. We were a large outside group and everyone was well catered for with drinks - and later food. The staff were great and the food was lovely (the most delicious venison I've tasted!). Many thanks.

Mercifully you can have a conversation in this pub. Not aure how they have done it but you can actually hear whomsoever you are conversing with. Also, nice garden during summer (obviously) and a decent menu.

Ordered 2 drinks, sat down in the bar area and the nice bar staff came over and took our order of 2 roast dinners. 5 minutes later a woman who works there asked us if we had booked, we said no and she said they are fully booked. We advised we had already ordered and she said again they are fully booked and walked off. There was no reservations signs and the bar staff didn't say otherwise. Made us feel uncomfortable at this point, my wife went up to her and said we are gonna leave and she just replied that they are always fully booked on sundays, right ok then sorry we aren't in the know in regards to your bookings , as we went to leave she said no it's ok you can stay... we left and wont ever be back

Very nice garden in the back. But the chairs are uncomfortable specially in hot weather. And the food portions are small, big plate with some food in the middle. You might have to get starter as well if you're hungry.

I hear Hove place does the best roasts...I have yet to sample this but their wide selection of beers and other drinks are fab. The beer garden is great (heated) and the inside is equally lovely. A favourite pub of mine.

Nice atmosphere, decent food and some of the incompetent service we have ever experienced.
We had a fun game of musical chairs during our meal, as we were told to make way for another booking after less than an hour of being there. Enjoyed two glorious pitchers of Pinms and soda water and had it capped-off with the most condescending waiting staff you can imagine.
This is an honest and balanced review of our experience at the Hove Place, Brighton.

We had a celebration for roughly 40 people at Hove Place recently, and it couldn't have gone better, everything was organised and ready for our arrival perfectly. Gary and Sasha who served us were brilliant. All week everyone has been commenting on how good the food was. We will most definitly be coming back next year for our Summer get together.
