Completely curbed and damaged 2 newly refurbished alloy wheels on nearside Range Rover sport whilst car was at the garage for another fault, which their diagnostics couldnt find, so wasted trip there, had to take to main dealership and pay for diagnostics. Gave Argyle the code, still couldn’t fix. They also promised they would repay me for damage to wheels but they ignored my messages and when I called they took a completely different stance and refused to pay saying it was too much, even though I had an invoice for the work already, and despite them admitting the damage to the wheels (they couldn’t deny it since the pavement had bits of my allow wheels scraped all along it where it was parked by them

So I just want to give people my experience so they don't make the same mistake as I did. I've lived across the road from Argyle Tyres for many years, and I've known Mehdi (proprietor) on and off over the years. I'm not very trusting of mechanics so it's taken me a long time to trust him to do bits on my car. I recently purchased a modified MX-5 MK1 and I needed to fit a big brake kit, as one of my calipers was binding. I spoke to Mehdi and he said no problem. Prior to this job I had asked what his hourly labor rate was and he told me £40 an hour. I explained to him what I wanted and that I was going to supply the parts. So I had the work done, all to a satisfactory standard and it only took 4 hours! I thought great that'll be £160. When it came to paying he wanted £300. I questioned him as to why it was so expensive for 4 hours work and he said because I supplied my own parts he wasn't making any money on the parts as he normally would, so he had to charge me more. I said "but that works out at £75 an hour" labour when he told me that labour was £40. He then said "that the labour charge was actually £55 an hour"??? I will admit that I'm at fault as well, I should have asked him for a price before he started the job, but as they say assumption is the mother of all f##k ups. All I can say is that I'm thoroughly disappointed that he feels he has to rip local people off like this, I certainly won't be using him again!!!
