Sorry but after everything, I feel I need to write this.
20 months ago - I had my gear box rebuilt at a cost of £2800 by this place. Fixed problem, but have had issues since. Recently and now out of warranty car does not go in reverse. Booked it in today, - came over for 9am ish. Turned up and was asked wether or not i'd like to wait - I asked how long? To which the reply was half an hour for the diagnostics.
I chose to leave and asked to come back later on. 3 hours later - no phone call so I phoned them, "we have not had a chance to look at it yet" was the reply. I chose to head back over, went into the office to be asked "what's actually wrong with it - to which I had explained several times before on the phone and earlier that morning. After waiting 5 minutes and to learn that my £2800 fix was not in warranty after such as short time, a guess of the fix was given at the cost of £300 to which still may not fix the problem. I would not usually write a bad review BUT this is the second time I have felt very poor service from this garage. Back when I gave them the vehicle initially to have the gearbox repaired, they said it would take a week. They ended up having it a month with me chasing them every few days. I therefor had to hire a car from enterprise at the cost of £250 a week - so a £1000 on top. Am livid, their communication skills are non existent. After nearly £4000 at my expense, this problem should be resolved. Will never use again nor would I record this place to anyone.

I was concerned about a flaring upshift on my modern classic 1996 Mercedes, and feared a gearbox rebuild might be needed. After getting advice from the MB Club I gave these guys a try based on recommendations. A very professional family outfit that gave me good vibes from the moment I walked in. The car was fixed in 2 days as they said it would be, the gearbox is fantastic now, a very good price and I could not be happier. I will not go anywhere else if I need a gearbox repair in the future.

After searching for a very long time to find someone with the expertise and knowledge to repair my Cmax auto (powershift) gearbox I finally found Kevin and the Team by way of recommendation. Having spent a lot of money on so called Auto Gearbox experts it was great to find they actually knew what they were talking about. Can't praise these guys enough, had serious problems with my auto box and all was sorted. Only problem was having to wait over the Christmas period but was worth it. Helpful, accurate estimate, work completed quickly once the car went in. Also fitted some other parts which really helped me out. Again, these guys are the best.

Kevin and the team came to the rescue when my T5 camper DSG box failed after 145k miles. They came out to diagnose the issue then got the van booked in. 3 days later the gearbox has been fully refurbished and is running like new with a 12 month / 12,000 mile warranty. Great honest knowledgeable old school mechanics ????

Well, I think I am going to have to go through all of my previous Google reviews and reduce the number of stars so that this one stands out.
I was recommended AGC by my local Land Rover indie after my Range Rover started to shudder when changing gear.
Friendly service, diagnosis was spot-on and a number of options offered for the repair. Professional and obviously take pride in what they do, not just getting as many vehicles through the door as they can. Experience and knowledge always show through.
Despite having 163,000 miles under its belt, the car is now as smooth as anything and, unless you are making an effort to do so, the gear-change is un-noticeable.

I have visited Automatic Gearbox Centre today to check the gearbox in my car. As it happened, there was nothing wrong with it. However, I have decided to post this review as a thank you for excellent customer service and advice. Kevin patiently explained to me all ins and out of the gearbox, clutch converter and control module. It gives me enough confidence to keep the car and enjoy the ride. Fantastic guys. Kevin knows all there is to know about vintage American transmissions and saved me a bundle. Half the price of the American vehicle experts I talked to and so friendly and helpful. Update: Once again Kevin and the team have gone above and beyond with exemplary service today by really standing by their original work and sorting a parts problem that developed almost 2 years later (not their fault). I cannot recommend them enough.

I went in for a gearbox oil and filter change for my S Type Jag. It was a pretty good price, and the software upgrade I asked for as well has meant that changes are silky smooth - virtually imperceptible. Terrific stuff.
I also asked - since they have kit to suck oil out of things - if they would change my differential oil. They did so (I supplied the oil), and didn't even charge me for it.
A great experience overall - and I discovered that I had played football with Kevin 20-odd years ago... small world.

I was recommended to the automatic gearbox centre by my local garage after my car had stopped creeping and started jerking when I pulled off.
I phoned up to book my car in and the technician suggested I run an adaptation using my vcds software before bringing the car in - his suggestion fixed my problem!
When I phoned back to thank them and cancel my appointment, they were very gracious and were simply happy that I'd managed to fix my car with their help.
Knowing that you can trust a garage is very important and I would always come back here with any future repair work.

Excellent professional service!
I took my BMW into Hove AGC last year for a gearbox service. I couldn't believe the difference, smooth gear changes and no more going into 'limp mode' as was previously happening.
I took it in again today as I had a transmission oil leak, although the leak had nothing to do with the previous service they fixed it and didn't even charge me!
Great to see that some garages still offer 'old fashioned' service. I would wholeheartedly recommend this garage if you need any gearbox related work on an automatic car.

My poor Skoda Octavia slammed to a halt on the A27 due to a jammed gearbox and was taken on a low loader to the automatic gearbox centre.
The staff were very helpful and gave me a price to rebuild the box. I accepted the quote and the car was repaired as promised reasonably quickly.
The repair was may 2013 and the box is running like new.

Scrupulously honest! They couldn't isolate the fault in my Saab gearbox, and declined any speculative work - referring me on instead to an engine specialist for further fault detection - and chose not to charge me for their time.
How many garages would you expect to behave as honestly and with as much principal as that.

I took my peugeot here today with the thought of having to spend alot of money, the gear box kept dropping out of gear into neutral while i was driving, not good. The guy i spoke to in the phone was very helpful and asked me to bring my car in so they can have a look (all for free i might add). After giving it the once over he spotted the problem and fixed it. He didnt even charge me for the oil or work needed!. I think this just goes to show that in a world full of people trying to rip you off if you look hard enough you will find some diamonds, couple this with the experience and expertise that this guy had and you have a winning formula. Needless to say i cant recommend these guys enough.

Amended review.
Nearly £2k for a gearbox rebuild, as transmission really clunky and hesitating between 3rd and 4th. All was fine for around 150 miles and then same clunky issues and hesitation I had before spending £2k.
Unfortunately because of holiday and work, I did not use the vehicle much directly after having the work done and it took me over six months to do the 150 miles and I was out of the warranty period.
