Visited this place yesterday to service my ex's car. Very professional given the current social distancing. There was no contact between us and them, payment was over the phone. Hope he uses you in the future, although I think my son will once he gets his own car. He went into this never having to do it before, let alone with what's going on, but they made it very easy.

I’ve used this garage for the past 3 years, putting my ageing van through MOTs after various faults. They are not necessarily the cheapest in town but they know what they’re talking about and always let you know the cost of works before they do it. I’ve always found their staff to be polite and efficient and never had a problem with their work. Highly recommend.

I was recommended to go to this garage, just had an awful experience at a Fast fit centre, where they wanted to charge me over £800 to rectify a engine light on, so wanted a second opinion.
Vehicle booked in today, I asked to wait which was No problem for them, the chap behind the desk was really helpful, and all the other members of staff just as friendly, 45 minutes later, was told vehicle needs new plugs & coil pack.
I asked them to carry out the repairs, 1 hour later vehicle done , cost £198.55 inc Vat, also reset my tyre light on dash, what can I say, but these guys have but my faith back in the Vehicle repair business, THANK You

Took my car to Thwaites after a breakdown recovery thinking that the head gasket had gone and expecting a large bill.
The booked me in while I was sat on a dual carriageway with my hazards flashing and 3 hours later my car was ready.
What a good, honest and quick service, thanks so much for putting my mind and wallet at rest.
Will definitely use you again.

Well what can I say about Thwaites? Well no matter what people will always find something bad to say about any business but in my opinion there is nothing bad I can say about Thwaites.
I literally wouldn't take my motor anywhere else.
Let's start with the staff, although I have never met any of the actual mechanics my cars have always been nothing other than spot on after the guys have had their hand on them, as for the office staff and manager all I can say is great customer service,
they have a laugh & banter but they never loose track of the job in hand.
They are friendly, helpful and know exactly what they are talking about .
All in all they are a great garage and I'd never go anywhere else.

EXCELLENT and VERY helpful last minute as i realised my MOT had run out just a few days before the Easter weekend.
They fitted me in last minute for the MOT and even though I had to go for a small repair elsewhere still managed to re test the van at 4.50pm just before they were closing so we could get away! FANTASTIC SERVICE!

I took my vehicle in for Mot today and have just read the feed back from Perect nest about their Mot, I was there when the manager was talking to the couple explaining why their vehicle had failed , he was calm and professional at all times , he explained they had every right to appeal the failure , but as the drivers seat was insecure it was a failure, and if they felt that it was wrong they can take it to trading standards or small claims.
I have found Thwaites to be professional and honest and thought on this occasion they were very calm when the couple were very rude and totally not open to any explanation,
I thought it only right to leave this review as I know how unhelpful this type of misguided review can make normally good company look bad

Very expensive compared to others, and don't like taking responsibility if they don't fix the problem. They charge half hour's labour (£42!) to diagnose the problem where other garages do it for free. They told me they had fixed a problem with my wheel axle (and charged me £600 for the privelige!) and when I left the forecourt I could tell it wasn't fixed. They told me it just needed time to bed in. I brought it back a few days later as the problem was still there, and they charged me another £160 to fix it! They also told me they fixed an issue with an engine light coming on, and guess what , 2 months later, its back on. You can find cheaper, more reliable garages, which in hindsight I wish I had done!

MY VEHICLE WAS RECOVERED TO THWAITES WITH A MAJOR BREAKDOWN RAC CONDEMNED THE MAIN ECU, AND WAS WARNED LOOKING AT A MAJOR REPAIR BILL.
VEHICLE WAS BOOKED IN BY COLIN, WHO WAS SO HELPFUL & THE OWNER WAS STANDING THERE WHO WAS EQUALLY FRIENDLY, HAD A CUP COFFEE THEN LEFT MY RANGE ROVER AWAITING THE PAIN AS TO WHAT THE COST WOULD BE !!!
WELL 3 HOURS LATER AND A CALL SAYING THE VEHICLE IS REPAIRED AND RUNNING FINE, APPARENTLY IT WAS A CRANK SENSOR WHAT EVER THAT IS, PICKED VEHICLE UP , AND THEY CLEANED IT, AND THE BILL WELL £275 INC VAT, UNLIKE THE HORROR I WAS TOLD BY RAC, SO IM WELL HAPPY WITH THWAITES, GREAT BUNCH OF GUYS AND TOTALLY 100% TRUSTWORTHY, ENJOY THE BEERS

We had a horrible experience today at Thwaites garage, where we booked an MOT test for a 6 year old Ford. We got a call from them that it has failed on the MOT, they said nothing major, a couple of bulbs and "insecure seat". When we got there and paid for the service we realised that the driver seat was broken. Certainly when we left it there the seat was NOT broken. The way they treated us afterwards... better not to talk about it. The owner/manager was repeating himself "lets go to court", when I told him I would prefer to find a solution, he said he'd rather go to court...He thinks that these things are normal to happen during an mot test.
We have reported the garage to Trading standards and I just hope that other people read this review before taking their car to this unprofessional and unreliable garage.
