My car failed MOT during Covid pandemic,. Other garages including Ford Dealer were reluctant to undertake this job as it seems to be quite difficult electrical problem. Also many garages were closed or were booked for next 6 weeks. I have had electrical problem with my reversing camera/sensors/rear fog light which is a MOT failure. Steve's garage had found fault and fixed it within less than three working days (including rear camera re-wire) and also pass my car through MOT. I wasn't expecting so fast fix for so reasonable price. I know from my experience that finding electrical faults could take days if weeks. I am very happy with service especially during this difficult times.

They are a great team of mechanics, I really rate Steve's Autos highly. I have been using the garage about seven years , changing my car three times. Age of cars I buy generally need a fair amount of work. I like to learn what's going on when I'm having any work done and the mechanics always have time to explain and discuss options. the prices are very much what you would expect from a one man band except you're getting a bigger operation that can handle the workload. I don't have any exclusivity deal with them and I will use other mechanics but Steve's Autos my first choice and favourite.

I brought in my mk1 V6 Audi TT to Steve's for the first time, after failing my MOT on various issues, and getting a ridiculously high quote from my usual independent nearby VW/Audi garage. These guys did the required work for 1/2 the price, & even took the car to back to re-MOT it, after completing the work. I would diffidently use this garage again in the future.

Brought my daughters astra into Steve's autos after engine light came on and car losing power, she had already taken it to another well known garage !! with the diagnostic test from the AA, they'd read it and said if they hadn't worked out the problem in 30mins they didn't get involved, and the problem could be due to a more serious issue and be really expensive to fix!!
It was a valve sticking due to debris in pipes, a common fault in diesel cars. Anyway I said we're going to Steve's we've used them for years, always great service, the guys new straight away what the problem was but couldn't look at it til Thursday, this was tuesday, anyway they got a cancellation Wednesday, fixed the car took it for a test drive on the motorway , and she was back in the driving seat by 2.30 wednesday.
Brilliant service, wouldn't go anywhere else.

Very pleased to have found Steves Auto.
Recently after wasting over 300 with another garage in Hove (who were unable to diagnose a fault but gave my car an overpriced service and car wash instead) I took my car to Steves Auto on the recommendation of a friend. Steve found the fault and MoT'd my car - very pleased with Steves pricing, expertise, communication and customer care. Highly recommended.

“Goes above and beyond”
I’ve been going to Steve’s Autos for years and can’t count the amount of times they have come to my rescue.From a flat battery at home to breaking down on a dual carriage way,they are always there to reassure me and to fix my car.
Only recently my clutch went on a dual carriageway and I was panicking as had my toddler with me and had to work the same afternoon.I was very quickly recovered within 15 mins and given a car to use in the meantime whilst my car was being fixed.
The garage had fixed my car with a new clutch within 24 hours despite it being a busy bank holiday weekend.
I was so grateful and glad to be back on the road safely thanks to them.
Steve always goes above and beyond and I know I can always rely on him in my hours of need.

Steve was absolutely amazing I (Leila) totally recommend his garage great team too fixed my car after an MOT fail through a main dealer and saved me over £350 plus got more things done if I had done the work through the main dealer I would have been worse off. Steve is very honest and will only change a part if it's not repairable also parts are much cheaper than a main dealer I've now recommend him to the whole family.

Such a terrible local garage! I wanted to check the air conditioning system, they even suggested to get the cam belt changed, the mileage was only 57k! After spending 2000 pounds, they changed so many partake, but the air con still doesn’t work properly!!

Steve’s Autos have been brilliant with my VW Tiguan which as been tricky since being ‘re-mapped’ by VW. They also picked my car up from home and returned it. They are friendly and extremely knowledgeable.
They have also looked after our aging Volvo and again the service was excellent. Highly recommend.

Last week I phoned Steve's Auto Repairs as my car would not start, he was busy, but said he would be with me that afternoon, he did turn up just after lunch time, he took my car away, but it would not be ready for the rest of the day as I need my car for work I was offered a courtesy car until my was repaired.
My car was repaired and brought back to me at my place of work the following afternoon, I was so pleased such a lovely man, I would recommend them, I didn't think that by picking a name out of google I would feel I could hand over my car to a stranger.

Steve's Garage has been so great. They are incredibly helpful and super polite with wonderful customer service. They have fixed my car with a new clutch and new breaks and gave me a smashing price for doing the job which I was very happy with. He was very honest and very reliable. I will be going back again if I have any more problems. Would give 6 stars if I could.

I've been trying to find out about my car since Friday. I ring I get told they'll call me back. And then they don't!! Getting pretty fed up of this cat and mouse game. Hea had my car a week now and I still don't know what's wrong with it. I appreciate they may be busy. But if someone keeps ringing then surely it's courtesy to call them back?!

I took my car here for air con regassing for my VW after checking my area for prices I called Steves Auto Repairs(who were more reasonably priced than the others) and he was able to fit me in this afternoon. I dropped it off and went for a stroll down to the beach a few minutes walk away. I returned in an hour and was very pleased with my air conditioning in the car. It is lovely and chilly, I should have done it ages ago. Had a chat with the owner who seems to take pride in his garage and the services they do there. I would certainly return to this garage again should i need auto repairs or advice in the future.

MY HUSBAND TOOK OUR CAR IN TO STEVES WITH A KNOCKING NOISE FROM N/S FRONT WHEEL. ONE MECHANIC SAYS "PROBABLY JUST THE SWIVEL JOINT MATE. (PASSED MOT 2 MONTHS PREVIOUS WITH 1 ADVISORY AT JUST MOTS) HERE`S STEVES QUOTE> 2X FRONT DROP LINKS - 2X FRONT TYRES - FRONT DISCS & PADS - REAR DISCS & PADS - N/S REAR CALIPER = £695.00 "WOW" SORRY STEVE, DON`T WANT TO SPEND THAT MUCH! I`LL SCRAP THE CAR, WAS MY HUSBANDS ANSWER! NO WORRIES MATE SAID STEVE, THAT`LL BE £69.00 FOR DIAGNOSTICS! JAW DROPPED! This guy is so rude to his customers and staff he doesn't deserve your business. He neglected to write down to check the tyre before MOT'ing my car despite promosing to on the phone. I was thinking I should book in a tyre change as I really needed the car to pass on that day and I said this on the phone but he reassured me on the phone they would check and call me which I thought was great. I reiterated that I needed the car to pass that day he said no problem so I booked. If he had said then that there might be a problem I would have changed the tyre first. So they failed the car on said tyre and told me after the MOT guy had gone home... they also decided my hazard lights were not working because they had not pushed the button hard enough. Again, I got told this after the MOT guy had gone so that left me without a car for a week. But the worst part was how rude Steve was, he told me on the phone"not to cry about it" I wasn't crying so this was just a sexist comment. He then blamed me for not telling the guys when I turned up and the guys for not asking but not once admitted he was at fault for not writing it down. He offered a crappy courtesy car but by this point I just wanted my car back from these cowboys as I can't do weekdays it would be a week with them. He refused to even meet me halfway on the price so I got charged £45 for a failed MOT and a disgusting sexist comment from Steve.

In response to Sarah review this is Steves auto repairs, Can I firstly say that your car was broken down and got recovered in as a non runner you was told that I was fully booked and that I would try to look in between jobs as was busy, Sarah gave me no information about what happened to her car just that it wouldn't run, after a few days I had Sarah call and when I tried to ask what happened she said nothing then a guy recalled me to say she had a engine light on for 3 mths plus lack of power I investigated for about 2 days to find there was big problems ( rockets came off cam shaft) with this car spoke to Sarah to find out more information to be told that I'm the merchanic I should work out what had happened and also having lots of different guys calling and getting involved. So I decided that I did not wish to carry on as felt the situation was getting out of hand so I've offer to recover her car to a local garage which I did. I had Sarah car for 9 working days bearing in mind re were fully booked and she was not booked in, I did not charge Sarah a penny and recovered her car to Audi free for her, I wish her good luck in getting her car repaired but I need honestly from customer if I'm to repair cars correctly , Steve denyer

Hi everyone,
My experience with"steve auto" has been more than a nightmare. I have taken my wife's car ( RANGE ROVER) to his small garage as he persuaded me he could fix it as he himself has got the same car. I trusted him and left the car there for repair. When i picked up the car a few days later he said it was fixed so i drove off. The same day the same problem appeared and i called him and he said to bring the car down to have a look again which i did. This on & off has been now for 4 times and the car is still not repaired. I have asked for a refund but he did not want to give my money back after me spending loads of money also travelling to him hoping to get it repaired. His customer service is rubbish and he is not professional i would not recommend his service to anyone that wants their car repaired. I have been ripped off by a cowboy-garage that doesnt understand about cars and doesnt care about your safety but wants your money.
