Attempted rip off - do not trust this company! This week I noticed a whirring sound coming from the front side of my vehicle. After speaking to numerous friends and family suggesting it was a wheel bearing I contacted First Class Garage to assess the wheel bearing. After leaving my car with the garage for no longer than an hour they came back to me stating that I had a crack in my gearbox (which was replaced little over a year ago) leaking high volumes of oil into the undertray, the front brake pads and discs were worn and needed replacing, fly shaft needs repairing and a total of above £2K - with no mention of faulty wheel bearing.
As I could not afford this cost I had the vehicle recovered to a friend’s garage in Exeter to gain a second opinion on the apparent damage as a query over faulty wheel bearing turned into a problem which the car had never displayed.
When given the once over, the second garage discovered the gearbox to be fully intact with no “crack” or oil spillage, and the wheel bearing was found to be faulty - something which left untreated by the garage could have caused serious damage to the car and had the potential to cause an accident.
My car was fixed for 10% of the price charged by First Class - I appreciate I am young and can look naive, however will not make the mistake of dealing with this garage again.

Took my car in today for mot and service, Kevin the manager rang me and told me that i needed 2 rear tyres as they were balled, they carried out the service, new tyres and the mot all in a day. very happy with the service and will use again 5 *****

Very friendly and helpful and make a point to explain what work is required and what has/will be done. Works great for me as I have a larger vehicle and they have just enough space to service it ???? all work is fairly priced by skilled technicians.

Nice staff and good at explaining the specifics. However, couldn’t fix my air conditioning because they didn’t want to take the dashboard out? I then discovered that one of the vent units had been snapped and then placed back in precariously. When I asked about it, they denied doing it! Very disappointed!

These guys are total scammers.
Went for an MOT stupidly not checking Google reviews which back up my experience.
They claimed the front suspension arm was completely gone. Didn't even get picked up as an advisory at Halfords.
They said emissions were running at 0.81 (legal 0.3) Halfords found it at 0.4!
DO NOT USE THESE CRIMINALS.

Took my car to 1st class garage a week ago, the staff were so helpful my car needed new tyres on the front as they were balled, the technician that was working on my car noticed that my front brakes were metal to metal and showed me how bad they were, all fixed in a few hours, great value for money, couldn’t recommend them enough will be using them again

About a month ago this garage completed an MOT on my car, unfortunately they advised me that there was quite a few immediate repairs that needed to be done for my car to pass the MOT and they quoted me just under a £1000 to complete the repairs to my vehicle. My previous MOT showed up no advisory’s so I took my car to my own garage back in London who also completed an MOT to my vehicle. Including the cost of the MOT and the cost of the repairs so my car could pass it’s MOT the total cost came up to £95. I cannot figure out how 1st class garage quoted me just under £1000 when I could get my car repaired plus the cost of the MOT for £95. I just thought it is important to make people aware of this

Brought my '77 Daimler Sovereign having been recommended by a friend. These guys were brilliant - they were happy to spend time showing me around the issues with the car - gave a detailed report and offered sensible advice on where to spend my money. Having had classic car specialists try and rip me off in the past - these guys were a breath of fresh air... will be using them for this and my other classics I own. Really impressed. took a week to repair a replacement gear linkage cable just to get it back to find out the next day it needed a new gear selector decided to go to a different garage to be told the gear selector is fine it was the replacement cable that they had replaced which was the problem and they charged top whack dealership prices for what was obviously not a new cable. never using again.

Warning this place is a scam.
Took my golf there to replace a window reg and my airbag light came on when i got it back. Took it to vw and have told me the window reg they fitted is broken and the airbag sensor had been removed so will now cost me 600 plus the 400 the garage took in the first place. Avoid this place.

Poor experience. Took my VW T4 in for a precautionary timing belt change and when I got the van back it seemed to be driving funny, then the next morning it wouldn't start at all with white smoke billowing from the exhaust. After taking it back to the garage on the back of a breakdown truck they told me I needed the glow plugs changing which would cost me another £250!. Completion of this job kept getting pushed back then the following morning after I finally get it back there's a pool of oil from under the engine. Now £750 down and need to go to another garage to get this fixed properly!

I have been using First Class Garage to service and MOT my 2 cars for the past 5 years. I have always been very satisfied with the service that I have received from the staff and the quality of the repairs undertaken. I am a Dry Cleaner, not a mechanic and I have no real idea what does or does not need doing to my car. Whenever I go into First Class Garage I know that whatever they say needs doing, it really does need doing and that is what I find the most reassuring thing about using them. I have recommended them to various family members and friends. They are very pleased too. My advice is to try them out!

I have been using First Class for 10 years and am very happy with the service I have received. One of the benefits is that when your MOT is due First Class contact you a month before to remind you which is good for me as I have the memory of a gnat.
My brother and mother both use them too. You can book in your MOT, pop tound the corner for a coffee and an hour later it’s done.

After a routine service the cruise control system was no longer working: I was told it was a component failure (the squib) which I did not believe so I had an engineer friend take a look. He found a lead in the engine bay had been left disconnected. First Class had quoted £160 for the fix. Incompetence or something worse?

Failed an MOT, had work done at another garage for half the amount 1st Class quoted, and strangely 1 hour less time than 1st Class quoted, took it back for a re test and they failed it again. Two other garages said the work was done well and the MOT was passed. Recommend users of this garage get other quotes done elsewhere!

Absolutely disgusted. they changed my starter motor and left the skid pan hanging off and I had to get under the van on the side of the motorway to put it back on , then the engine kept cutting out so I took it back and they told me that all 4 injectors had gone and it would cost nearly £2000 ! I took it to another garage and they replaced a wire ( which had mysteriously come off ) at a price of £130. Leave your car with these clowns at your peril and I hope you have a big wallet!!!

They basically destroyed my car, overcharged me for it and expect almost an excuse from me!
I contact them again and they quoted me twice as much as another mechanic !
SAME PROBLEM !!! 2 totally different quotes!!
Everytime they touch something they made it worse! Same thing with my wife car!!
I struggle to understand who gave them the license in the first place !
If your car broke down in front of those guys, you better push it somewhere else!
You will save yourself a lot of trouble!

Vastly overpriced, service took 2 days and cost more than the ford main dealer £272 for a basic service on a 9 year old car. Tried to charge over the odds for parts and drew out the labour. I didn't have the recommended work done (would have cost best part of a grand) and car running absolutely fine after 4 months. I'm sure these guys do a reasonable job, but you'll need deep pockets

Awful garage, the man who works the reception is grumpy, although less so in person then on the phone.
My problem with this garage is time! they are extremely slow, pleased my car is working but the speed they carried out the work is appalling, it wouldn't be so bad if they informed you along the way, transparency is important when dealing with customers, to get a price I had to ask multiple times, time line I was originally told first job of the day, very much giving the impression I would have the car back early afternoon, this changed to "end of play" when I called to get an update at 3pm.
Sadly the man seemingly running the place has little customer service experience (I can only assume this is why he is so bad) not a pleasant experience although mechanically my car has been fixed, although costly! as I later found out from multiple garages the repair would have cost £100 less then what
i was charged.
wouldn't recommend or ever use again. AVOID!

I really cant understand the negative reviews of this place other than the fact that one chap is referring to a garage in Australia rather than this garage... I have taken all my cars to First Class for ages after I was recommended to use them via a friend, they are organized and I find them extremely honest, if they charge more its because they are in town, my local out of town dealer garage is nearly £100 per hour. In my opinion if you dont want big bills, dont drive! I have always had honest advice and feedback from this garage so dont be put of by poor reviews.

Terrible garage. Asked for locking system and door panels to be secured. Within a week the door panels were falling off again. Took the car back to the garage; they did the job again but again within another week panels fell off again. The locking system has recently broken again as well. Took the car to another garage and they sorted the problem out with no problems. Avoid this garage.

Went to do my MOT and some minors repairs.. when I picked the car, my reverse system wasnt working anymore and the car key was cracked!!!
Went back to get sorted and this old gentleman just said it's not their fault and didn't fix what they damaged
So angry right now!! I don't recommend this garage to anyone !!! Will never go back there !!

Anything but 1st class... Apparent lack of organisation and communication...
My car was in and out twice over 3 weeks and returned back to me the first time in worse condition than going in. Having taken it back the second time, they lost my number and any calls I made I was told to just wait for a call back. Which I duly did having given them my number over the phone again.
2 weeks passed and eventually took time out of my working day to go into the office personally and my car was sat ready to go (thankfully working this time) but there was no communication from them to suggest it was ready/might be soon. On top of this there is now a large oily handprint on the interior of my car and the whole experience has cost me hundreds of pounds.
Nice guys but if you're reading this I would avoid this garage and head somewhere else. I certainly won't be back!

Went with my car to do MOT, got as call a few hours later saying that one of the rear tyres had a cut and needed to be replaced. It was then agreed to replace the 2 rear tyres, but got another call to say that there was a mix up with tyres and they only received 1, which was fitted so it could pass the MOT. Was told to go back next morning to fit the other tyre, and when I got there they started working on my car straight way, but when the tyre was nearly done the guy told me that it wasn't he same brand than the one fitted the previous day.... So now got 2 tyres on the same axle from different manufactures... really disorganised. 1st and last time!
