I cannot recommend this garage more highly. My car battery died on the morning I needed to get to an important work meeting and they offered to help me at the last minute without hesitation, even though it meant James had to walk to my car which was parked a 15 minute walk away. He got the car started and very patiently explained everything to me, even though it was obvious I know nothing about cars! Thank you James and all the staff there.

Tried for first time when car failed Mot, quoted all jobs but 1 seemed good value. When they got the car in headlamp motors job quoted £250 extra which doubled the price and as car had not MOT I had to agree to the price. I'm not confidant they changed both motors but they charged me for them. I will have the work checked elsewhere to see that they have actually done what they charged for. Charged 2 hours but the book time is 0.7

you know the saying, 'once you find a good mechanic/garage you stick with them', well nothing could be more true of grants. i've been using them for over ten years, the staff are super friendly, it's the kind of place where you can just drop in and get helpful advice if you have any car concerns, their work is top notch, they'll keep you fully informed about any work that may be required and their pricing is very fair, even when they're really busy they will try and find the time to fit you in, i wanted to write this review after a visit today, where to my surprise the work required was covered under warranty of previous work they had done, it was completed in less than half a day, no charge, no quibbles, just smiles. so if you're not happy with your current garage, give grants a go.

I recently relocated to the area and was recommended by a friend that Grants Garage is a HONEST and RELIABLE garage to go to who offer stellar services and they were right! Not only did I receive an outstanding service but they also went above and beyond.
I took my car in for a diagnostic report to find out what was wrong with it. Once this was done I was informed that they needed to flush out the old engine oil, have an oil change and replace both oil pressure switches which hopefully would do the trick to fix the problem. This was not a grantee fix but with their experience and knowledge they recommended to do this first as they didn’t believe it was an internal issue as the engine sounded fine.
While GG was in the process of repairing this I also asked them to quote a few things, one of them was a scratch on my car. When I collected my car, not only was my car fixed but the scratch on the car that I asked to be quoted had been removed by 90%. I was really impressed by this customer service that rarely exist nowadays and on top of that they didn’t even charge me for the repair to the scratch.
The initial quote I got was later reduced also proving how honest they are! With this customer loyalty they will continue to have my business!
I could immediately notice the difference to the performance of the car once driving it back home.
I highly recommend this family run garage service!

I had taken my car to a another specialist VW garage on 2 occasions, and paid a lot of money for them to diagnose a strange running fault - they tried a few things and then told me I needed a new exhaust system & CAT - then quoted me over £1000 in just parts on top of what I had already paid. I then took the car to Grants who were able to find out it was actually an injector fault! They made me aware of costs up front & advised me that they thought it was worth doing. After clearing up a few other issues the car had which was caused by the faulty injectors flooding the engine with fuel they called to say it was ready to go & it feels as good as new again. I was given a courtesy car for the duration my car was in for which, whilst basic did the job and was cheap to run. So I am very pleased with the service I received, the communication and the end result. I would highly recommend Grants Garage ????????

This place used to be my top favourite garage. Since ownership changed their service and quality of work gone severe down. I left my car for MOT. MOT failed because repeter did not work. They charged me £75 for repeter when you can buy £10 online. Never again..

Very nice to my wife, went to fix a fan. Fixed it, it then I mmediately broke, then charged her to fix it again. It then broke. Took it in again, replaced the same part and then found it was something else, which they charged her for.
I then asked them to run a diagnostic on an light that was on. They said they had, but they lied to me. I took it to VW who said no diagnostic had been done. They seem to know what to say to get extra work, and seem nice to get extra work. Avoid.

Won’t take my car anywhere else now. Even after moving out of Brighton. I’ve gone to them for a second opinion, after being told I need a virtual suspension rebuild. They said I didn’t and told me what the issue probably was instead for a far lower price.
Their prices are low and their service is better. Being fully booked a week in advance, can’t be a bad sign. But I’ll happily wait for a space for them to do any work.

Unfortunately we found the service and communication from this garage to be very poor. They first quoted extortionate amounts for diagnostics - then agreed a price and and went back on the agreed price so this had to be re-clarified. We chose to move to a more trustworthy and better priced garage and when the car was being moved it was noted that Grants had not fixed everything back in place, the had not returned the vehicle in the same and appropriate condition it was given to them in and they tried saying they did us a favor. Poor communication, poor service and no apology. Take your car elsewhere!!!

Great family-run garage. Very friendly and approachable, and reasonably priced. If a business can be defined by the way it handles problems, then these guys have it nailed! I had to go back recently with a couple of very minor niggly issues and they sorted everything immediately, and with a smile. Perfect recipe for repeat business! Highly recommended.

My car died after many years of good services and mots at Grants and I talked to them and they even advised me on a private sale on my new car. I took my car in last week having had a problem with it. I left the car with the garage for it to be looked at and diagnosed. I requested a call back with advice on what the problem was and how much it would be to fix it. Instead I was greeted with a big bill on the work they did without consent. At least the problem was fixed though.. Nope, today I've found that my car is still playing up with the same problem, 140 pounds later. I will be taking my car back to the garage tomorrow in hope of some free assistance or a refund and will update the review as necessary however at this point in time I am disappointed to say I wouldn't recommend this local garage
