Good food, pleasant ambience. My apple crumble was very sweet and lacking a bit on the crumble! I would recommend for a lunch or evening meal.

Love this place. A bit busy and the waiters are hurried but their turmeric coconut almond milk makes up for it. And check out the super-duper flat chocolate chip cookie. Kids happy.

This venue is a walk in only restaurant which has a range of nice dishes at reasonable prices . Vegitarians have a few options here also. Apart from wine and beer they offer a range of soft drink specials such as a delicious Ginger Beet and other fruit and mineral water mixes. The basic wooden tables and benches are enclosed in a large downstairs area which being adjacent to the Waterloo East rail line you hear the rumble of the trains so don't be alarmed . There is a smaller upstairs area adjacent to the entrance opposite the Royal Festival Hall so for a pre-show meal this is a great venue. The soups and bread range are very yummy and the salads delicious. The service can be a little slow at busy times but overall for central London this is better than many other venues.

Very good breakfast offering - easy location to access just 5 mins walk from Waterloo. Would recommend the Belgian nut spread with the bread breakfast offering, and the omelette. Very attentive staff and excellent service

We had a light lunch at our usual Le Pain Quotidien on festival walk yesterday and we were really disappointed with the meal. We chose the Lebanese meal and having traveled in that part of the world it was very disappointing. Whilst you may not get the totally correct ingredients it should at least be of a good quality, but it was not and even the bread was stale. I wish I had the time yesterday to complain! As an aside your iPhone app does not work properly! Not a great day for your restaurant?

The food was really quite nice and the variety of vegan options were refreshing to see. That sadly is this restaurant's only redeeming feature. The staff here are so rude and simply don't want to be there. I had to wave down one waitress for the bill, when it finally arrived, she was no where to be seen to pay. I walked up the stairs to have four staff stare at me, ignore me and finally a girl shoved a card machine into my hand not saying a word to me. I've never experienced such disgusting service in a long time. Do yourself a favour and get better staff! Ones that will want to be there

A great place to meet up for a chat, with just a drink, light meal or more. The lower level in the railway arch has terrific atmosphere

Great location for breakfast meetings. Good food and coffee (if you don't mind cups with no handles!). Large size means a table is always available. Staff friendly.

My day was good until I went here for breakfast, a very very rude waiter who had a lot of sarcastic remarks when asking about vegan options. The service was very slow even though today was a Monday and they were not that busy. Food is overpriced & not very good quality. Had to ask for cutlery 4 times before it was given. Disgusting coffee that was cold and lukewarm cold drinks. Very disappointed with the service & quality. Give this place a miss as it is not worth the price from the quality of service to the food.

Interesting menu, with some mistakes made during ordering, however in complete contrast to a 1* review of this place the staff were apologetic and served us very well all evening. One staff member even went out of her way to look up in two separate places, the ingredients in a particular product. We enjoyed the organic kombucha and the Lebanese bread was very tasty.

This review refers to the restaurant only. The bakery is five stars and their sourdough bread is unbeatable. However the restaurant is severely overpriced. The food is tasteless, it takes long time for them to serve the food, and the noise is horrible - no feeling of intimacy and no possibility to enjoy anything. Avoid by all means, if you want to have a lunch. More than recommended, if you are after the bread only.

Nice place. Do organic everything. Staff are friendly when they eventually come to your table but seem to spend a lot of time standing around talking to each other.

Rude staff. Stood waiting at the 'please wait to be seated' sign for 10 minutes before any member of staff even acknowledged us (despite the fact half the tables were empty and there were lots of staff milling around doing very little). When the host begrudgingly greeted us she informed us we had to wait another ten minutes, could not understand why as there were so many empty tables and she could not offer an explanation. Around 10 other guests in the queue seemed equally annoyed and confused. We left after waiting for fifteen minutes and not being seated. Have eaten at Le Pain Quotidien once before and whilst food was okay, it is overpriced and staff are snobby and unhelpful. Obviously will not return.

Very rude staff. No stars from me. I came on my own and waited for my friend to join me to have my lunch together, I wore some casual clothing and had a few shopping bags with me and I was sort of looked down at by the staff. The staff did not instantly acknowledged me, when they did they served my latte in a plastic cup although I said to them that I am staying in, my ban also was served in a plastic bag despite the fact that I mentioned in advance that I am staying in. By the time I had my latte and a ban, I realized that the people who receive the best service are those who order a lot straight away and who dressed for the occasion. The staff is heavily relying on tips and once they identify someone to be not one to provide the tips - they back off and do not provide a great luxury customer service. On the way from a bathroom I was not let to pass through a narrow corridor and a young female waitress banged in to me and when I stopped looked at her , she unwillingly apologized. At that point I did not want to have any lunch and went away to meet my friend at another restaurant as I was very dissatisfied with the overall service and the attitude, on the way back nobody said Good bye , although there were waiters standing by the door. I will never return to this place again and do not recommend it to anyone who is willing to receive a great customer service and receive some customer care.

Didn't actually eat in here, just picked up a Too Good To Go bag, looked nice enough and staff at counter were friendly. Food we had in rescue bag was yum.

Well located outpost of this chain, with a cavernous interior at the back if the terrace and front tables are busy. We often go with small kids and they put up with the cacaphony and mess that ensues with good grace! Simethimes service can be slow but they are always pleasant. Usual menu which I love for it's healthy and indulgent choices.

Stopped off for a coffee - I had a small latte but unfortunately it was so weak I could not taste coffee so asked for another shot which made it moderately better. The bill was £3 for a small weak latte plus another 35p for an extra shot. I have visited various branches often for food and never had coffee. Won’t be doing that again will stick to the independent cafes who somehow generally seem to know how to make a decent coffee and good food. Really disappointing and horrendously expensive????????

Le Pain is one of our favourites places to grab a tasty lunch, however our first and will be our only visit to the Southbank location was terrible. We stood around for ten minutes before anyone even said hello and that they'd be with us shortly. We sat another ten minutes before our server came to take our drink order and we had to physically get up and seek someone to clear our table and order dessert and then again to order more tea. If you're going to table service, we shouldn't have go up to the counter to order. Disappointing.

Not terribly impressive other than by the very warm and welcoming manager. Food was lacklustre and service sloppy and inattentive. I had a pain au chocolat which was so flakey I could barely eat it. Toilets were clean though which is always welcome. Didn't appreciate being shoved aside by a staff member on my way back to the table however.

Great, easily accessible (close to Waterloo) cosy place with decent food. I've had several work meetings here, as it is a surprisingly good environment for those sort of get togethers. Food is as you'd hope for, and coffee is good (coffee sizes are huge, so do order accordingly!)

Ordered a vegan chilli. What we got was a meat-effect textured vegetable protein (TVP) dish. Do they really think vegans want substitute meat? I can make a veggie chilli so much better than this at home. It's the easiest thing to do well. Had I enjoyed it, I'd have grumbled that with the small portion and two accompanying very meagre pieces of bread that I went out hungry. I did go out hungry, but didn't want more. - I was able to enjoy a sandwich afterwards just down the street.

One of my favourite places around Southbank. The decor resembles train carriages. Occasionally you hear the overground passing above your head . good food and service too.

The quality of the food is always of good quality at this chain. We particularly liked the Chicken and Leek pie and the ham and cheese tart. Less keen on the chilli sin carne. Service in this restaurant was great - friendly and efficient. I’ll continue to come here.
