This is a store with probably some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I frequently shop here as I like the products, but I have probably only interacted with 1-2 helpful, nice employees. The others just stand around either chatting amongst themselves (and look surprised if you ask them for help) or just stare at you without offering to assist. When you do ask a question, often someone does not know the answer or gives you the wrong one. I bought a chair there the other day and asked if it was a return, I was told it wasn’t, and when I got home and opened the box the chair was packed horribly and was very clearly a return, looking slightly used. This store isn’t cheap, and I would expect the customer service to be in line with the prices they charge.

A big shout out to Davis (or David - couldn’t quite hear through face masks!) for going above and beyond. I bought a small but heavy ex-display rug and couldn’t even lift it. Davis (or David) helped me to wrap it and then carried the rug all the way out the shop, waited whilst I hailed a black cab and then loaded it into the cab when it arrived. He was so helpful and friendly. I don’t know what I would have done otherwise. Great customer service! Thank you.

Horrendous experience. ordered on the 14th January a chair and plates. 4 weeks later, only got half my order! Hanging on to speak to them for the third time which has taken 30 minutes every time to get through to them. Complete nightmare and do not trust what they say. Beware!!!

Shocking customer service and returns policy. Ordered a £500 mattress which got delivered yesterday. As it is way too firm for our needs I called them up to exchange it after having slept one night on it. Was duly informed by 2 different advisers that they could not accept a return as we had taken the mattress off its protective film for "hygienic reasons". I replied that we had used a mattress protector and a fitted sheet, to no avail. The page on their website for this mattress does not state anything about that, on the contrary it mentions "Easy Returns" within 14 days and a link to their Returns Page. Which again has no mention of "hygienic reasons". You can only find that mention on another link, the Consumer Contracts page, which is two clicks away from the page we ordered from. "Sealed goods which are not suitable for return due to health protection or hygiene reasons, if unsealed after delivery." So basically each page for their mattresses should clearly state "NO RETURNS (unless you sleep on it with the sealed film protector still on)" . So it looks like we're now stuck with a mattress we don't want to keep. When a lot of mattress companies offer 100 nights no questions asked refund policy, Habitat's is frankly unacceptable. AVOID.

I've shopped at this store a few times over the last year as it's near my place of work and I've always found the service to be fantastic. The store is much bigger than it looks, with a huge downstairs section with plenty of choice! I recently went in to buy a new lampshade and had some great help from the chap in the lighting section!

The 5 stars is purely down to the experience I had dealing with Anthony in the lighting department. Such a helpful, pleasant guy! I had a bit of a drama trying to purchase a light shade that was difficult to transport home (a bit too big for the tube at rush hour), and he was an absolute star. Remembered my name, my situation, called me on the phone to let me know when I could pick it up etc. In the end the item didn’t fit quite right, and I took it back for a refund, but what stood out throughout the whole experience was the high level of customer service.

I went to this store looking for a new sofa. I was served by the lovely Gabriele. I felt her service was exquisite, professional, courteous and honest. I felt Gabriele was very patient with me. She recommended suitable sofas for me after I told her my requirements, and she gave me time to browse the store. In the end I chose the perfect sofa and footstool. I was very satisfied and happy with the service received. I really hope Gabriele gets commission, or a reward, and raise of some sort, as this was the first time for me visiting the store and I felt her service and attitude was world class. This Habitat is so it and miss. I quite like the furniture they offer but every time I've tried to purchase something over the last 20 years, I've found that their customer service is lacking. Either you end up waiting 10-15 minutes to pay for something, or you simply can't find anyone to pay for your goods.

This company uses Yodel for delivery. And Yodel are useless. The Business partnerships they chosen to establish says a lot about the company. Even a simple delivery was too much for Habitat/Yodel. It’s not like the item was free. Or delivery was free. It was all paid for. Initial update was for date x. On date x I get an update that it’s arriving today. At the end of date x I get another update telling me I’ve got good news - my order will be delivered tomorrow. Will avoid Habitat and will avoid Yodel in future. Plenty other places to choose from.

Reasobly priced furniture available in the clearance. Quality of the laminates and veneers is somewhat lacking so furniture can scratch fairly easily. However 0 stars for collecting furniture. Invariably it takes minimum 20-30 minutes for the staff to bring it round to the loading bay. Their customer service staff are very unhelpful and have hung up on me when trying to get more info whilst waiting. This has happened to me a few times over a number of years so clearly is an institutional problem.

In spite of appearances, the main lower floor is accessible. Enter the store and keep going right to find the lift, which is well hidden and with no signage. Similarly, downstairs has no signage to help you find it for getting out again.

What an awful experience! Had a very rude member of staff serving us on Easter Monday. We tried to order a dining table and chairs and the staff member couldn't care less, she shouted at us and stormed off - refusing to serve us. We were then served by a staff member called Rodrigo, who was very helpful and if it wasn't for him we would of walked out!

A large shop over two floors. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. I have bought several items over the years and have been impressed with the quality. The most recent was a floor lamp and staff was very helpful about which bulbs to buy for energy efficiency and helped me choose. I find the shop has a good selection of items from their website, and is great for getting ideas.

I never gave a bad review! But Habitat on-line well deserves it! If I could I would NOT give one star! I bought my product (plate sets) on-line. I was told it would take 2-3 days to get my order delivered..after 6 days my order hadn't arrived. Called customer services as I was expecting visitors in some days time and absolutely needed these plates!! I was told the order went to the wrong place but would be with me on time for when I needed it. Plates arrived over a week later (No plates for visitors). The box was ripped (no "fragile" label) and plates were broken. I complained and was offered a £10 voucher to spend in their own store?! as a "goodwill" gesture from habitat?! I asked to return and get a refund after such a poor service. I was home on expected time of collection. No one knocked my door and I received an email saying collection failed because no one was home?! (NO note was left on my doorstep either!) I called habitat saying that they were not at my place! I asked if they could contact the driver and I was told they could not contact the driver?! Drivers have no phone number?! This is the worse service I have ever came across with.. it is very disappointing, especially when you pay the extra money for the quality!

Ordered a desk at end of May for delivery at beginning of June. Nothing turned up and heard nothing. I called them. They said there'd been a problem and it would be delivered at beginning of September. I called them today (20 August) and was told they don't have my address so it won't be delivered. They couldn't even find me on their system. They have my address and details as I had a sofa delivered last year. I have cancelled the order. They are hopeless. I'd give zero stars but that option isn't available. We're encouraged to use real shops then this happens. If you have to order something do it online. At least you'll know it's been ordered. Whether it turns up is another matter. Update: Just seen online that delivery time is 3 days. Did they offer to deliver it in 3 days when I called today? No.

Do not buy much furniture from Habitat anymore but it is totally brilliant for general "home-ware' for the kitchen and bathroom. Really good shop to spend some time browsing in and my wife loves it. Bought a whole load of towels and other good stuff in the sale recently and well chuffed with the stuff we bought. Staff helpful too.

So my Easter Monday experience was better than the previous poster's...The table /stand I wanted was listed as being in stock (indeed, four were listed as being in stock!) which meant staff spent ages trawling through the (allegedly and probably vast) stock room looking for it while I re-thought my 'spur of the moment' purchase decision and hung around looking bereft. But Anthea did her best and when it turned out the one I wanted wasn't in stock after all we came up with a decision which suited me, suited the store, and meant that I left the store happier and less skint than I would otherwise have been. So, a great result, with a star knocked off my ratings just 'cos of the 'hanging around while hangry' thing. BUT I am VERY pleased with my purchase and grateful for your patience, Anthea (Andrea? I think it's Anthea though.) And your colleagues too, of course!

Bought 3 60x80 wooden heavy frames from the shop and used their “free home delivery within next 2-3 days” offer. Only 1 of them arrived on time and fine, 2nd one arrived on 5th and damaged and 3rd one arrived on 8th day and damaged as well!! Store is not helping at all!!! The customer service is useless. Don’t waste your money, time and energy on this useless Habitat brand!!

Nice store very well laid out next door to Heals in between Goodge street Tottenham Court Road Tube stations the furniture is pricey though and very nice they still have kitchen stuff that's looks great and nice light fittings if you are doing furniture and furnishings then Tottenham Court Road is the place as there are at least a dozen stores to choose from offering different styles of taste.

This store has a wide selection of furniture pieces – for kitchen, dining room, bedroom….I mostly liked the diversity of sofas, they are so many and so pretty! I wandered around for an hour until I chose which one to buy. And the shop-assistants were very helpful and polite even though I wasn’t the best shopper.

I love the accessories in the store and have a lot of their kitchen, storage, bedding and other miscellaneous items. The larger items of furniture in the store look decent enough but in all honesty are way overpriced. It feels like they have a 10-30% sale going on every other weekend, which seems like they would probably have a lot more customers if they just permanently reduced everything by that amount.

Good value items on the sale which we were happy with. What we were not happy with was the customer service. First off they charged us three times the amount for some items that we only noticed after we had packed the purchases away. This amounted to over £100 overcharged. How the sales assistant didn't notice is beyond me. Secondly, we had bought some large frames (100cm by 70cm) and assortment of other stuff. We had driven to the store so we could park the car and use the customer collection entry as it would have been very difficult for myself and my pregnant wife to carry the stuff through the store, street and back to car. The sales assistant however didn't allow us to and seemed to have no problem to let my wife to carry the plates while I tried to carry to many frames purchased. No assistance was offered to even take some of the items to the car. Poor service!

I don't usually write reviews but am compelled to do so because of the appalling customer service that I experienced recently from the furniture advisors. I had travelled from near York to London specifically to make decisions on some furniture purchases that I was going to make. I spoke to two different people about beds and each of them spoke to me in a high handed way. They didn't know their stuff and gave wrong information, they adopted a sulky manner and made me feel stupid for asking about essential information. I really didn't feel they were helpful or polite. I got the impression that the attitude was we're in London and you are just one more customer, passing trade, sort it out for yourself and don't bother us. I've been a customer for many, many years and was shocked by their manner.

Not as fancy as Heals, but still a reliable place to pick up interesting, design-led interiors pieces, from furniture to kitchen accessories and cushions. I've heard bad stories about their customer service for delivery items but I've been happy with everything I've bought from here, and their regular sales usually turns up bargains on the pricier items (such as their sofas, which can sometimes be had for 30+% off).

One of the few remaining retail outlets for Habitat since its dramatic fall from grace. Habitat is such a weird combination. Furniture priced sky-high is sold alongside very reasonable kitchen- and bathroom-ware, especially so during their sales. Always on-trend and frequently trend-setting, you won't be able to pop in without wanting something!

The staff are great, their system is not. I bought a rug which I've been trying to return for well over a month. They fix a collection date in and despite asking for a morning slot they repeatedly allocate afternoon, you then can't rearrange the delivery date until the original date has 'failed'. When I finally get them to collect, I have to go back to the store to receive the refund.

We bought a Rupert sofa bed that is (still now) advertised as having a king size bed (150cm x 200cm) yet it is only 145cm x 175cm. Even a single bed is 190cm in length and the Rupert bed is only suitable for young children. It took 3 messages and a week for Habitat to get back to us, only to offer a £150 discount. Not only is this insulting, it also misses the point. The bed is useless. As is their service! They have known about their false advertising since May 23rd ... let's see how long it will take for them to change their website.
