Good doctors but abysmal service - three days of ringing the prescription phone line and not answered. Appointments phone line also terrible! Looking at previous reviews, the management can't even be bothered to take remedial action as a result of one star reviews.

Doctors are great when you actually get to see them. But trying g to pre book an appointment is impossible, no flexibility if you working, which isnt fair. You spend ages on hold in the morning to be told no appointments available to try again tomorrow, which is fine if you're not working and able to try again. It is just a lottery on who get the appointment. Just seems a shambles at the momemt

I’ve been registered with this GP practice for many years. I am usually able to get a telephone or face to face appointment if necessary that day or soon after. I find the practice are very helpful if it’s more urgent and will make sure you speak to a nurse or GP or point you to nhs 111 etc. I have had face to face appointments recently despite covid and have been referred for hospital appointments very promptly. On the whole I find the receptionists really helpful and friendly. The GP’s are very thorough and caring in my experience. The practice have always seen my young son the same day or at least a phone appointment if we’ve been concerned and have given him excellent care. They provided very good care through my pregnancy and have continued to do so since his birth. I have very high praise for the staff at Bridge Street Medical Practice.

I've been trying for 20 minutes to try and book a consultation. I'm currently on hold whilst I write this review. This is an absolute joke. Honestly, no wonder people get so stressed and frustrated when trying to speak to the doctors, makes you not want to bother. No doubt ill get told all the appointments have gone for the day if I ever eventually get through... Well if I wasn't holding for almost half an hour maybe I would have got an appointment?!

Lines busy all the time, they are not bothered to pick up the phone. Very ignorant staff (especially doctors). Absolute disgrace.

Absolutely awful. I have had a long history of mental health issues and physical issues. For nearly a year they have been throwing me back and forward on medications I've already had and do not work for me because they make other health problems worse. Now for the past 8 months they haven't even cared to help! I battle my anxiety to see or speak to them and all the do is throw me on sleeping tablets and now they are telling me they can't do anything for me and to speak to charities because I haven't got a disease they can treat. WHAT A DISGRACE to say to someone that has mental health.

Long waiting times Ladies at the receptions are not always polite and were many times disrespectful, they are not answering the phones, pretending to by very busy, actually if you're in the surgery you'll notice that Almost always trying to get rid of you as soon as they did answer your question Not recommended at all

My symptoms were, pain in the thighs, flakes of skin all over the bedroom floor, tingling in arms and back when exerting or after eating, sudden bouts of sickness that greatly intensified and then became persistent, difficulty breathing after eating, blurry eyesight and memory loss. It turned out to be calcium deficiency caused by taking prescription omeprazole for a long time, the ever lowering amount of acid in my stomach caused by the medication resulted in the inability to break down essential minerals from food, eventually everything I ate became poisonous because there was not even enough stomach acid to kill the bacteria that is in all food. Bridge Street Surgery sorted me out eventually but it took a lot of pushing. During my illness I ended up right here looking at these reviews, you never know this might help someone, the medical term is 'calcium deficiency to ppi use'.

I have a real bad anxiety with doctors, etc,so after building myself up all wk to talk to the person on reception, she was very rude to me and wasn't interested in me as a person or as a patient .it has now took me another week to build the courage to try again n I am now missing medication .

Absolutely shocking attitude. My step daughter has recently moved in with us, as her mother became very ill and was unable to take care of her anymore. The girl is 8 years old. Few days ago I came in with my own 3 months old baby and my step daughter and asked them to register my step daughter and I got a reply that they won’t be able to register her for the next 6 months and offered me to register her elsewhere. The whole family is with this surgery. I explained them the situation and told them that the girl was very ill and needed to be looked at by the doctor. I was referred to go to walk in center . I’m a working mother with a little baby and a child have to go and spend ours in a walk in center, because they won’t accept 1 child???? Ridiculous and disgusting attitude !!! Well done!! Refusing a child in treatment! What about Hippocratic oath???!!

Everyone has a gripe now and then but my family has been with this surgery for over 50 years. Many things have changed throughout this time, some good some bad. I especially dread the day when the two practice doctors retire. I cannot fault them. The name 'Anna Winters' is a psuedonym.

This practice does a good job considering the pressure that GP surgeries are under. Doctors are good and caring i would recommend this surgery

This practice is good, the staff are lovely and friendly, and the doctors are good. You can call on the day for a sit and wait clinic with a doctor or pre-book, not much to argue with. Only criticism is that it can take a while to get through on the phone

My nan is house bound and has been very ill. She clearly needs reassessing for medication she is on and definitely needs stronger pain killers as every time she moves she is in pain. The doctor himself made an appointment to come visit my nan at home, left it until 6pm on the day to say he wont be attending. One week later practically the same thing has happened. However the reception staff 'recall no appointment'. Absolute joke and I would suggest if you actually need medical attention or prescriptions or whatever..... dont bother attending this surgery. Absolute Joke! And now the doctor has lied and said he has been trying to contact us all day!!! LIAR!

This practice and it's management (namely Laura Gibson) is a disgrace. I openly respect Dr Peter Cannon who I do not blame for my contempt for this practice. My dad sadly passed away on 3rd February 2018 after battling lung cancer. My issue however is that from 2011 to July 2015 despite continued visits to this practice with obvious symptoms of coughing, breathlessness, wheezing, bringing up fluid. He was NEVER sent for an x ray or sent to a lung specialist by Bridge Street medical practice. Dr Jassal (senior partner) stated to my dad in consultation last year "it seems there has been some tunnel vision" . Yes, in other words we failed you Mr Barsby! In addition on November 23rd 2017 he was examined at home by Dr Kind having serious symptoms of ill health yet no action was taken, on November 24th rushed in to hospital when unconscious and very poorly only to be diagnosed with Sepsis and Pneumonia. It was stated he'd possibly had this for 2 weeks prior. ( what did Dr Kind examine him/check him for? bearing in mind my dad had previously had Sepsis and Pneumonia on 3 previous occasions?) Laura Gibson (practice manager) obtained my dad's authority to speak to me regarding my concerns 2 weeks before his death, yet she chose to put her head in the sand and not have the common decency to speak to me. This utter failure over 5 years contributed to my dad's death. 5 years of misdiagnosis relating to lung cancer is absolutely paramount in my dad's downfall. LAURA GIBSON AND YOUR PRACTICE HANG YOUR HEAD IN SHAME.

Careless and very sensitive crowd. They appear to be able to only deal with people who have certain ilnesses they dont cater for other needs. If you get annoyed they threaten you with a ban from the practice even when your stating the obvious and theyre completely oblivious and you have to explain to them time and time again and they still dont understand. (They actually contribute to problems -- last thing i needed) Been at this surgery for years and im disgusted. Repetatively had to repeat myself . I have been going to these for help for the same problems, expressed the seriousness of these isuues with a few doctors the specific problems i was having with my body and it got shrugged off the same problem i had got extremely worse which lead to 2 seizures. After explaining this to the practice and that whilst i had these seizures i had fallen onto and been on a shoulder that i have had surgery on numerous times whilst gaining an infection post operation and still having an infection now. Whilst having seizures and been put into recovery the people resusitaing me had to use my right arm to pull me about as the convulsions were demonic have caused more damage to my right to which i have explained to the surgery. Now having an infection post op and having a viral illness plus the rest stated, i believed i was in a position to receive some help at least. My last infection was documented as the staph infection, now having this infection in such a short time i was extremely worried and anxious i was tested by the new blood test machine which clarified i had a viral infection to which i was told i wasnt allowed anti biotics. Prior to this everytime i have had anysort of infection i have been prescribed medication. I became agitated because once again i have left this surgery with no help (currently theres an uproar in the nhs surround doctors over prescribing anti biotics) In the end i gained an 8 day ban for asking obvious questions and becoming frustrated when theyre not carryin out their normal practice) or at bare minimun send me for a xray to clarify the situation, even though a week or so before i had an emergancy mri scan which showed the appauling state of my shoulder but yet none of the obvious practice has been carried out. Night after night of constant pain and waking up in the same way is obviousley going to take its toll. My best advice 1. Employ some males for reception 2. Have some compassion 3. Cater for the health of everyone and not just visual illness 4. If you have mental health problems most definately do not go here they have not got a clue. 5.record every session if you do not feel you are getting the help these are paid people and are obliged to deal with every aspect of health problems. 6.dont complain to these because all they say is sorry amd thats it. Dont be insulted more than you allready have been.

I told the practice that I can't attend my appointment on 10th Nov so that they can offer it to someone else. So, the appointment I said I cannot attend has now been offered to ME ! And I've spent 2 days phoning, holding on for 5 mins each time. So far, 9 unanswered calls. Seems rather incompetent

Considering they have over 6000 patients and a huge influx of clearly none indigenous - I think they do a great job.
