Great craft on and it's a nice place. But overly pricy for the beers unfortunately, which will prevent me from making it a mainstay as nobody likes being gouged on each pint when they can be found at much more reasonable prices elsewhere these days.

I love this place, their home brew is delightful and staff are lovely but last couple of times ive walked out as just don't get served, (around 5ish), i know the UK the culture is for servers to be students or young'uns but why not buck that trend??? For the money they would take it must be worth it??? Being a waiter in spain is a career, you walk into a bar/resturant you are served in seconds. I dont get it, but i dont work in your industry so what do i know? your always busy so carry on, buy the house next door and double the size of the place... quality is worth waiting for as its hard to find in the UK food and drink industry, we need down-under crews to show us how its done, long live me shelia!!!

I went to The Urchin to celebrate my birthday. Had a wonderful meal, the seafood equivalent of some two star Michelin Restaurants I have been to. I had scallops followed by the Malaysian prawns and my partner had rock oysters, scallops and a whole lobster. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food on offer and the service was friendly and attentive but relaxed. I live in Gloucestershire but would travel to Hove just to eat here if I wanted really good seafood. It knocks spots off anything available in this area.

Great beer selection - can't be faulted.
Food so so. Don't try the crab, no description other than 'crab', came in a disgusting broth which gave me tummy issues that afternoon!
Fried oysters delicious though.

Delicious seafood and craft ales, as well as the distillery for Brighton gin (also delicious!). I love their Malaysian prawns- but best to avoid eating them in a white top! (Speaks the voice of experience). The menu is small (literally just seafood) but what they do, they do very well.

Great food and staff. Would of given 5 but they got my daughters order wrong. Offered to change it and didn't charge for her meal though. Will Def go back for scallops. Prawns absolutely gorgeous. Def. Need to book though if you want to eat restaurant side instead of bar side

I really love this place, been there twice now. Food is excellent with fresh shellfish and always an exciting twist on the dishes instead of just the classic seafood. We had the spicy Singapore Crab and Jambalaya and everyone loved their food. Service could be more attentive as it sometimes took a while to get their attention however they were super friendly and clearly knew their stuff and could make recommendations etc. I will definitely be coming back for more.

I am biased as I live opposite, BUT The Urchin really is one of the best Seafood Restaurants in Brighton and Hove. The staff are so nice and the food to die for. We have been known to eat here 3 times in one week.

Don't believe google. No burgers no Sunday lunch. The menu is Seafood. Not that this is a bad place but when we went there on a Sunday the staff were fed up with explaining seafood only. Nice atmosphere good drink selection and good seafood.

Hidden gem. Top quality food at reasonable prices. The menu seems small at first but keep an eye on the specials board inside and the menu doubles up. Huge selection of beers. Nice wines. Out of the tourist way. Soooo happy I walked down there. Will return.
