Do remember this place before it was refurbished. Was always a spit and sawdust old mans boozer, but always had a bit of character to it, with a traditional local pub atmosphere. Now with the refurb that has completely gone. Usual story in the city of traditional pub being taken over and revamped for the trendy crowd. There is some good ale, though have to check the prices and have completely over egged the gin menu. The staff I found were polite and served me quite quickly, but were just like the establishment they work in cold and not very friendly. The layout is very nicely done, but if your looking for a cosy and warm pub go elsewhere.

An ok pub if you like waiting 15 min for a simple drink. GLOOMY interior but expected if all you change from the old pub is the carpet! ( nice tiled floor ) On top of that bad attitude from the bar staff . They simply cannot work under pressure ! A blonde barmaid threw a tantrum after her colleagues attention was sought to serve in the correct order. Nothing whatsoever aggressive about a simple hand in the air in the vain hope it may be seen. Her reaction was totally disproportionate. Maybe a bad day on her part but I doubt it . At this point we walked out and took 4 friends with us. My first and only time.

after being a local for yearsin the plain old albion, the old/new one is a farce. £8 for a glass of wine and no smoking seated facilities outside, this is absolutey a NO GO. there are so many things wrong with this place that unless u are a yummy mummy looking for some bad overpriced coffee steer clear! i hardly leave bad reviews but stay away is the only thing i can say about this place.
