Delicious food, opulent venue, stunning service, unbelievable cocktails and a great room for large parties of require. Even the ladies room is decadent. Need to book at least 2 months in advance for a table at peak times but will worth it. Also do a great afternoon tea and a voucher for this makes a great, very well recieve and much enjoyed present. Highly recommend.

No social distancing. Absolutely packed. No screens.

This is the sort of large, brightly decorated, brasserie style restaurant Brighton needs. It is fun, the staff are charming and though the food isn't cutting edge it is properly prepared and cooked. Bar looked cool too!

The food was excellent although a tad expensive. The waiters were very friendly but not trained to suit the price of the bill or atmosphere the restaurant is trying to achieve. Not as classy as expected. 3 out of the 4 of us would go again but anytime soon.

Had our farewell dinner at Ivy, we tried 5 starters, 4 cocktail and mains. I personally liked Duck liver parfait, Steak tartare for starter. Tuna carpaccio was great but hoped they didnt put too much sesame oil cus it covered all the other flavours. Cocktails were fab, Crab Linguine sauce was too greasy for me, Blackend Cod fillet sauce tasted like tariyaki sauce. Roast salmon fillet was surprisingly flavoursome and Aromatic duck curry was nothing special. Nonetheless the quality of ingredients were good compare to its price, overall was really satisfied and will def come back soon!

Interesting decor for breakfast but the food was amazing. Staff was lovely and attentive although we didn't like the manager/supervisors vibe as he seemed to talk down to his staff a lot and was very "know it all". Apart from that, enjoyed our time at the Ivy.

Fabulous service and food, atmosphere perfect for a special occasion (we were celebrating our 10th anniversary). If you are meeting up with girlfriends rendezvous in the award-winning ladies loos! Just incredible!

Good, but not quite good enough to justify the price.

Food was amazing, service was amazing, but when you are hard of hearing its just too noisy and claustrophobic.

Excellent transformation from a post office into an airy, upmarket, attractive restaurant.

Although the food I cannot fault... I was appalled at the lack of social distancing during my visit. The menus were handed by the staff over. So how is that disinfecting? The tables were so close together that I had to say I did not want to sit where we were allocated. The staff got so close to us during our visit it was so uncomfortable and alarming. It was as if covid did not exist. We just wanted to pay and leave tbh. I understand the website tells how you manage the pandemic...however other restaurants do it far better, and to have the staff so close and the customers so close is quite frankly dangerous. It felt as it did pre covid in the restaurant. I could not believe it. I want to complain and send an email but cannot find one, very disappointed to say the least. This is how the disease keeps spreading. Shocked.

Second visit. Still great food. 1st time nobody asked if we were enjoying the meal. Also, 21st century rococo decor now gone. Shame. BUT, where else other than Englishes can you go in Brighton? Hurrah for the Ivy!

We've been to Manchester and the original "Ivy", and I'd have to say it's up there. The service was great............ but the service charge still does itch the wrong spot!!!! Let's not forget it is optional and we chose not to and left the "tip" on the table for who served us. Thank you and we will be back again.

Good food and service, but staff not very professional and pretentious. We arrived with no reservation and we offered seats on the bar that we accepted even that were many free tables. We were there for two and half hours and the so called reserved tables remained empty. Which is unacceptable for a restaurant with this reputation. I don't think we will be going back.

Wonderful experience! Went for my partners birthday lunch and the atmosphere was great, food delicious and cocktails plentiful. Has an old world, 1920/1930s interior decor theme in a gorgeous old building, that has all the glitz and glamour of a gatsby-esque party. Still manages to not be overly pretentious, which was a really nice surprise. Would definitely go back!

Had high expectations for food but was sorely disappointed. Whilst visually appealing, and highly Instagram worthy it was chewy , rubbery and served cold. Didn't cope to well with a diary free guest. Interior is as you would expect from the ivy, art deco, fun and playful. However very much a case of style over substance. Go for the Instagram likes Not for the food

I have visited the Guildford, York and Cambridge Ivy's since COVID and this Brighton branch of The Ivy in the Lanes does not appear to be have taken all of the steps to minimise transmission of the virus and I didn't get the impression that it could be covid secure. Whereas all of the other branches took your temperature, ensured you has scanned the track and trace and sanitised your hands before entering, tables had been spaced or barriers put in, then Brighton did none of these when I visited. The staff wore masks but the the layout was identical to normal (I have been here many times before) and the place was literally packed with tables right on top of each other and no barriers had bern put in where the social distancing was not possible. Furthermore, the music was very loud and meant you had to shout which basically meant that if you have the virus then you wud be spreading it over a lovely large area. That aside, the general service and food was as good as normal although the burger was very underdone and had to be returned meaning that by the time a new dish was back, they had to eat on their own as we had all finished. To their credit this was removed from the bill without asking but again added to evenings overall feeling of disappointment. I have visited plenty of places since covid and sadly Brighton Ivy disappointed and for the first time I felt unsafe because I didn't feel their safety measures were anywhere near appropriate and they gave the impression they were more interested in getting as many people in as they could rather than considering the safety of others. Whilst I also fully appreciate the need to be busy in these difficult times, I don't understand how the other branches can achieve and makes appropriate changes but this branch failed to do so. If this was my first visit to an 'Ivy' I would be very disappointed and would not be returning to any of them but I know their other branches appear to have made better changes and adaptations and you felt safer. Also worth noting that every single branch remains pretty much packed out that I have been in, so they are not suffering like some other restaurants are so they really have no excuse. For the balance of fairness, I really like The Ivy group and the food and service is always good but this visit was disappointing.
