Characterful pub with two beautiful gardens in the front and back. There are voluminous awnings for the rain but the heaters were disappointingly weak. The loos could do with a bit of modernisation. Prices were alright for Brighton without being cheap. Selection was good.

Rude staff, one person taking orders for the whole pub. Manager came over and complained about our order, we order two rounds and the manager stormed over rudely saying our order takes too long for the bar staff to make. We were waiting 45 minutes per round.

Great outdoor seating area and food. My friend and I really enjoyed our visit here especially as we had to sit outside when it was raining. All the seating was covered perfectly and the heaters were a blessing.

Lovely pub in normal circumstances. Poor staff are expected to manage a ridiculous number of tables to themselves currently, frustrating the drinkers and exhausting the employees

Always a nice atmosphere here :) they're doing £5 meals for the new substantial meal rule so makes drinking and eating out quite affordable. The chairs at the back have some sort of heating under them so they're nice to sit on!

Its good if you don't go at the weekend, it gets rather busy and takes quite a while until somebody serves you. The staff are hardworking so i can understand that it must get quite stressful on weekends.

A .large pub like this isn't my usual preference but in the current covid 19 world they make social distancing a lot easier. Lots of outside space for a Brighton pub. The burger was great and the staff cheerful.

Nice place. The atmosphere is awesome, it has a very nice terrace and the waiters are kind. The selection of beers is quite wide which makes it great for enjoying and evening here

Really nice ambience here with some good beers. However, the food doesn't live up to the same standard as the beer.
5* on the ambience, beer and handling of covid (quite possibly the nicest security guard in Brighton, blonde pony tail)
3* on the food. Lacks the substance!
Definitely head back for the beer but not the food.

Every time I go into this pub the staff are rude and bossy!
I understand that we have a COVID situation but there is no need to take it out on the patrons, manager highly un interested in complaints, I will never step foot in that place again and neither with my friends!

Decent pub. Prices as expected. Food nice. Service good on the whole with the exception of one waitress. Was very rude to us despite us only asking for condiments. We thought it was an isolated incident but the table next to us also had an item missing from the order and she was horrible to them. Thankfully the long headed gent at the bar made it for it. He was extremely helpful, apologetic and good spirited. His colleague could really take some notes, she was awful!! Wouldn’t be returning if he hadn’t rectified her mistakes so professionally

This pub rocks. Great selection of beers, great outdoor (covered) seating area, and great food. Have been coming here for various occasions over the years, from wakes to birthdays to film shoots of Passenger. Integral to Brighton’s identity IMHO.

Only been to this place a handful of times but definitely one of the best pubs in Brighton! Great selection of drinks, decent prices, lovely food, friendly staff. Really nice gardens both front and back with heated pods so couldn’t really ask for more.
Weekends are fun and lively so no need to go into the city centre for a busier vibrant night out. On the contrary, weekdays offer a more chilled place for some wholesome grub and a glass of Malbec.
I hope to try the Tuesday night quiz soon too as I’ve heard great things! Will definitely be back soon.

In the past I have had some nice roasts but today was really disappointing. I ordered roast beef. The two meagre slices of beef were so dry and very crispy around the edges I almost thought it had been fried. My daughters burger was so heavily seasoned with cracked pepper that it was too spicy for her to eat and wasn’t much better for an adults taste buds . An Expensive mistake .
