Paid for a major service which was clearly not done and they tried to tell me I need new brakes when I had new brakes 6 months previously. They'll do anything to try and squeeze more money out of you

Do not take your car here for an MOT, they will make up fake advisories and “fail it” to get the work from it, They failed my car so I took it away as I knew nothing was wrong with it as it had just been done. Booked it in with a VW specialist the very next day and it passed without any issue, even the Halfords “advisories” where non existent. Just a heads up, either someone is not trained properly or they are looking to make some money.

After taking my car in for a diagnostics, i was originally told the problem would likely be fixed within the price. I was told the diagnostic would take an hour. After an hour and a half, i checked to see how much longer it would take, to which they told me it would take another half an hour. After half an hour i went to discuss the result of the diagnostic, to which they told me they still was not done, and would be done soon, another hour and a half later they told me the issue and that they would ring the next day with a quote, after ringing two and three days later, being told they would get back to me in an hour i still hadn't heard anything, i had to go back to the auto centre to get a quote, to fix the one part was half the value of my car, which i found to be extortionate. Very slow, and not much explanation or reasoning with why it took so long. Had to chase them numerous times.

Great service and friendly staff. Had 2 tyres fitted on wheels painted black and they fitted them without making a single mark which is not easy. I had to go back again to get a problem with the tyre pressure sensors sorted but was a fault on the car not with the work done. Even so they sorted it without any fuss or extra cost.

First of all I failed my MOT at the Halfords Autocentre, which is acceptable because o was expecting a fail. They were small things so easy to repair. But one of the small things that they offered to repair was worth 50 pounds just for diagnosis. Which in my opinion should be that much just for diagnosis. It took me 10 minutes to diagnose it myself at home. Second of all when I fixed everything by myself at home, and rang in ti book a retest they said its 10 days gone for a half price retest and they will charge me full price again. It was the tenth day which in my opinion should be the last day for a half price retest. Second of all they put a statement on my certificate that a part under my car needs changing soon, wasnt the cause of failure but clearly trying to make you feel like it need to be changed and best place to do so is them. I went to a different garage and when the guy there checked that part he said it will love another good few years before changing and that it's in perfect condition. Also the man at the reception had a rude voice in person as well as on the phone. I know it's a business and everyone wants to make a few quid but in my honest opinion this place will try to get money from you. Also I offered them to just fit in a part that I had that I failed the MOT on, and straight away with a proud and clear voice the man said no, that I have to fix it myself if I've got my own parts. I would obviously pay for fitting service, but making you pay then for service and new parts in my opinion is scandalus. Will never go back there even if it was the only MOT in town.

A few weeks ago my car broke down and the AA sent it to halfords autocentre in leicester little orton street. After much resistance in telling me they did to my car,they said they replaced my ignition coil and spark plugs but the car is sluggish and just not running like it used to. The staff are so combative I fear to confront them. Last time I called one of the guys told me to call the AA again and lie that my car is unsafe to drive. I thought halfords had standards!! My advice is avoid these people!

I was given the wrong diagnostic for the fault on my cars air conditioning and it would of cost me over 500 pounds , but I decided to take a second opinion from another company , good job I did, it turned out to be a broken valve , repair, clean, 're gas ECT 75 pounds what a difference...... so I paid for the diagnostic report but it was wrong ? .... never again , it's always worth a second opinion , look how much I saved .?

The visit did not start well. I got caught up in traffic and was 20 mins late at which point they told me they could not fit me in for the rest of the day. Which is fair enough. The problem came when they then proceeded to lie to me implying that I would not be able to use my car to get to another test centre because my MOT was running out the next day. The law is very clear. There is a 14 day period where the car can be used to drive to another test centre. When I was easily able to find another test centre to fit me in the same day they seemed surprised and then proceeded to ask me what time I would be bringing my car back for its service. How about never? Why would I want to take my car to a place where I could not trust the mechanics working there? Plus a combined MOT and service works out cheaper than paying for them separately. The only reason I am giving the place 3 stars is because I have used the garage previously with different mechanics with no problems. My warning to future customers would be to be wary of unscrupulous mechanics especially if you’re a woman.

MOT easy process to book online with choice of while you wait time slots. On the day of test, arrival and booking in was slick and car ready on time as promised. Will consider for cars next service as I Drive service history can be updated on site.

Really would not recommend bringing your car here for an MOT. I took my car, the Manager was rude right from the beginning. No customer service skills. I then left my car and got a call to say the car failed its MOT, I asked why (as I knew there was nothing wrong with it as had everything checked before I went) and told the wipers were leaving a streak? He then started to cross sell me to replace it for minimum £50!! Then said there was a light on for the airbag, there has never been a light. I went to the garage and he tried to show me the wiper yet feels very odd and strange when there was nothing wrong with it for years now all of a sudden a piece of plastic was a bit lose and causing no streaking and there was no light on for the air bag. He refused to help further. I took it to another garage the day after and they passed it with no issues at all. I really would not recommend taking your car here they are crooks and such a disappointed. Now raising a dispute with DVLA!

Another same day Service (dropped off 9am-Ready by Noon for collection). Bruce and his colleagues also completed a Free Ten Point Safety Check on my car and nominated any Advisories on my Emailed Invoice for easy future reference. NHS Discounts when showing I.D. Badge or Document. Effecient friendly staff. Not cost prohibitive. I Recommend and will of course return to this branch of No Nonsense - Trust inspiring gents.

These guys are excellent. To be fair they have had bad press in the past, but I would certainly recommend woodgate branch. They are attentive to detail and actually care about the work they carry out. Time is taken to explain if you do not understand. I am very fussy who gets a hand around my car. They can have it for all future services and M o Ts.

I had a major service done on my car recently at Halfords Autocentre in Leicester Woodgate branch. I met the branch manager at the counter. Was going to give my keys in and before i did i asked him a question, which was do you use original parts when servicing the car? He told me it clearly says on the Halfords website that we use manufacturer or equivalent parts but on my car it will be equivalent parts and if you want manufacturers parts it will be £75 extra on top of the £245 already charged for the major service. I told him i didn't know about that and i thought you were using OE parts. When i said this to him i was shocked to hear that his response to me was that "If you are not happy with what we are offering i can cancel your order and you can go elsewhere" Is this how a branch manager treats his customers? I could of just cancelled my order there and then and walked off. I was not at all happy with his attitude he showed towards me and this is terrible customer service and is very rude. This was even more shocking as this was said by the branch manager. But because i trusted the Halfords brand and the equivalent parts they use to maintain the warranty i still decided to go ahead with the major service. One person who gave me good customer service was one of the workers there and his name was Bruce. He called me to say the car is ready. When i got there he explained to me how the service went and what things were to be done on the car. He explained everything on the receipt in a very clear and comprehensive way and gave me a breakdown of how much each item would cost like for rear brake discs and pads. I'm giving 3 stars because of the good customer service i received from Bruce in the end. If the attitude from the manager was better i would of given higher rating.

I do not even feel that one star is completely necessary for this rating but it's the lowest I can give. So my car was booked in for a service at the Woodgate Halfords, the online price was stating that it's costing £189 for the full service, but the guy behind the counter was not happy about this and tried charging £205 for some unknown reason. Next, I go to pick up my vehicle and there is a professional taking it for a 'road test' to make sure that everything is perfectly working with the car and that I'm safe to drive it. So my car is finally approved after driving maybe 100 yards up and down the road. I'm driving home and I notice a really rough rattling sound, we go back to Halfords and it turns out they didn't actually put the backing plate back on my disc brakes! How does this even occur? How in the world was my car 'approved' on the road test? To make matters completely worse, there was no apology given, nothing what so ever. An absolutely travesty of service. Embarrassing.

Dropped car in for free check so can't grumble about free inspection. Didn't receive call when car was ready, did receive an email, but could have done with call to ask if I wanted any recommended work doing - as it was, I was just given price quotes for additional work when I went back to the garage but had no time to make comparisons or get work done, which felt like a wasted day overall; thought they would contact me earlier and ask if I wanted things doing. Wouldn't use again. Staff were ok but not very welcoming and didn't smile.
