Best antiques shop in London. A treasure trove of the most beautiful pieces. And such a wonderful welcoming and caring team. Always the first stop for any occasion and always the best service. Thanks

We bought our wedding bands here. Great shop with a lot of charm (but not from the staff - fairly brusque customer service, so don't recommend if that's important to you). Found the perfect rings so we were happy.

I bought my gold wedding ring from A R Ullmann, made in 1901. It's beautiful, has character and a story (although I don't know what the story is!), and was exactly what I wanted. I also popped in recently as I had mislaid my ring box. They kindly gave me a new one free of charge, which I thought was excellent service. Thank you.

This is a treasure trove of an antique jewellery store. They cater for a wide range of budgets and have options to suit everyone. I’ve been back several times and always found what I’m looking for. I’ve personally found the service wonderful, but would recommend you bear in mind this is a small, family run outfit. In taking the time to make sure each customer finds exactly what they are after, you might have to wait a bit. I promise you the wait is always worth it.

Avoid! Although their jewellery is beautiful looking, it is highly overpriced. Customer service is awful. Staff are incredibly rude. I visited here to buy an engagement ring and can't emphasise enough how poorly I was treated. I think because I was dressed in jeans and a shirt they couldn't fathom that I would be genuine about purchasing a £5000 ring so they talked to me as though I was a street urchin.

Excellent selection and service. When not in lockdown I work locally and have popped in many times to see what’s new and always been advised professionally but also with that warm family feel. The ring on my wife’s finger feels extra special as a result. Thank you

Really wonderful experience ordering from overseas. Even in the middle of a pandemic they were responsive and got my order shipped to me in North America within a very quick timeframe. Staff was friendly and did their best to answer my questions quickly and thoroughly.

I have no idea why there are so many 1 star reviews. We brought my engagement ring from this shop and also our wedding bands. They have always been friendly and welcoming and let our dog come into the shop. We will be returning again if ever we need in the future. They have a wonderful selection of antique rings.

The best antique jewellery shop in London. My wife and I bought our wedding rings from here on the recommendation of numerous friends. Delightful staff.

Very rude staff running the counter. Told me to wait outside until I knew what I wanted. I was a tourist there last summer and was browsing. My son was disgusted with how I was treated. We headed over to Gray's Antiques and I had a wonderful time spending my 5,000 pounds at Wimpole's. The staff running all of the shops were very friendly there and I highly recommend going someplace rather than Andrew Ullmann.

Shoddy craftsmanship. Brought a piece of costume jewellery in, hoping to get the rhinestones replaced and enamel restored. A fortnight later got a wonky necklace back, enamel not restored, and stones were replaced with wrong colour. I pointed the wrong colour out to the old man in the shop, and also complained about the necklace not sitting right. The man, however, claimed that he couldn’t see these obvious flaws and said that I was “lucky that it’s not very expensive”, as he was going to charge me £25. A woman in the shop came over, looked at the stones, and said to him, “Dad, the colour really isn’t right. The rest of them are pink but you put yellow ones in.” The man reluctantly accepted the work was not great. The woman said if I left the necklace there, they would fix the problems. So I did. A week later I received a call from the old man, notifying me the necklace was ready for collection. He specifically asked me to bring cash and the cost was £30. I did not complain about one of the stones was still not pink, or the enamel was not restored. I was, nevertheless, eager to get the necklace back, as it is a sentimental piece and I needed it for a certain occasion. Two days after the collection, the stones fell off. I called the shop and asked for a refund. The old man wanted me to bring the necklace back. “I will help you,” he said. I decided to avoid further waste of time and brought the necklace to a different jeweller. The repair was done in five minutes with, so far, no sign of shoddy craftsmanship. Unlike AR Ullmann. A waste of time and a waste of money.

This is an interesting store. It's family run which is very apparent with some fairly eccentric owners. They sell vintage wedding bands as well as engagement rings (which seems fairly unusual) as well as all sorts of bits and pieces - lockets and watches. Well worth a look. The service is patchy, depending on who you get and how busy they are. It's a bit of an experience of an old school antiques jewellery store for good and bad. Not sure I would get work done by them (based on other reviews) but their antique stock is definitely worth a look if you're after vintage pieces.

A charming old-fashioned jewellers and family-run business. It's a nice contrast to the 'Brick-Lane'-style hawkers in the same area. And great for finding unique, vintage and antique pieces. Bought my engagement ring and our wedding bands here. The owners are a little eccentric but sincere and it feels like a very typically English experience to shop here!

Loved our experience here, found a beautiful emerald engagement ring. Friendly and understated service from a slightly eccentric family run business - managed to get my ring resized on the day and couldn’t be happier. A huge variety of gemstones to choose from. Highly recommended for something unique!

I brought my engagement ring from here it was amazing. The lady at the counter was so nice she was kind and not pushy at all. She showed me a couple of rings but we decided on the ring that suited my fiance the best and not the most expensive ring which was strange. 5 days later when I picked it up it was amazing the transformation it went through. It was about 100 years old so they cleaned up the diamond and the Metal it was outstanding I was so impressed everything about this place is very very very good. I will definitely be coming back to pick up my wedding bands from here.

Don't go to this store if you're expecting good service and just basic courtesy!!! I bought a signet ring for my husband which we had resized and engraved. The engraving had sharp /rough edges and the middle letter had inconsistent depth. Joe called me fussy for wanting to have it fixed. Told the lady to rub it with something which improved it a bit. Offered no apolpgies for the bad work and even went as far as stopping the lady who was attending to us from offering any options to make us happy. Unbelievable! Horrible man! I felt so offended to be called fussy. We brought it to anotjer engraver nearby and viola, it's so much better. So don't waste your time and money in this store, please!

I don't usually take the time to write reviews, especially negative ones as I know how damaging they can be. However, pretty disappointed with the serviced received at Ullmann. I dropped off a small diamond band to have a missing stone replaced and was quoted £60. When I returned to collect the ring I was told the amount to pay was £100. Apparently there was a repair that needed doing in addition to the replacement (I don't remember there being any repairs needed). I suggested that perhaps someone should have rung me to tell me the work would cost nearly twice as much, to little acknowledgement and no apology to the situation. I'd travelled all the way and didn't want to cause a bigger fuss so disgruntledly paid up and left. Looking back I think I should have been firmer. Its not acceptable to quote a price and carry out extra work without checking I'm happy/can afford to pay for it. I'm not even sure there was extra work that needed doing, but of course can't prove this. I won't be returning to the store and would advise others to photograph their items before dropping off, and also ask for an accurate and final quote.

Went in today to enquire about purchasing wedding rings. The man who worked there was extremely dismissive in his manner and frankly made me feel rather stupid simply for entering his shop. We took our custom elsewhere, and got both our rings from a very friendly shop around the corner. I feel this could be so easily overcome with an improvement in bedside manner, and is a shame as some of the rings did look very nice.

Visited in this place during my stay in London... Have to say that many of the 1-star reviewers were right. The owner wasn't very welcoming and just wanted to know how much money I wanted to spend on. Wasn't even interested on telling much about the jewellery itself. Kinda sad, because I had planned to buy a pair of old cufflinks from there. At least I was prepared for something like this to happen (thanks for the previous reviewers), but still, I hoped that by contacting them beforehand I would've had a more welcoming experience. I visited the place out of spite for a second time (just because I had time to waste) and the service was pretty much the same. The woman on the counter was nicer and I preferred talking to her instead. However, the damage was pretty much done, and I wasn't interested on making business anymore. I was just looking on the stocks and after I had seen what I wanted, I left without looking back. I did eventually buy a pair of cufflinks, but not from this shop. For those who are interested in old jewellery, I recommend visiting Berganza Ltd. or Sanford Bros. instead. I'm sorry to say this, but next time I visit London, I won't bother visiting this place again. Nobody deserves rude service that underestimates on what customers want to know/learn about the jewellery offered.

Took my grandmother's jewellry box in for a quick look to see if anything was worth anything. Was happy to pay, a much older gentlemen didn't even open the box properly just looked and shook his head. He was so rude I was taken aback. Have since taken it to another jewellers and I had 3 sapphires valued at 4.5k. May not have been much to them but appalled at the rudeness of the older guy. Do hope he isn't the owner.

Amazing experience here. Despite the shop being really busy, the lady helped me for almost 40 minutes showing me loads of items that I might like. Not pushy at all, didn't feel like I was an inconvenience. Really tried to keep within my budget and the ring I came away with is beautiful. Definitely a place to go if you want antique jewellery.

My partner and I bought an engagement ring here last month and had such a pleasant enjoyable experience. The woman serving us was so friendly and attentive and gave us all the time and space we needed to pick the perfect ring. A great range of unique antique rings available at an amazing value and they offered us a discount without us even asking, with resizing included. We cannot recommend this shop enough - definitely going back for the wedding rings!

From all jewelry shops that me and my fiancee visited to find our wedding ring this was the worst experience. First, we found a wonderful ring, it had a pattern that we loved and wanted to have copied on another ring. to make two similar rings. The lady we spoke to gave us a discount offer, 700 pounds and we could have two rings one original and another plain gold ring with pattern copied, engraved names etc. We needed a few moments to decide and transfer some money from saving account. When we returned to the shop the ring was sold! This of course was a huge disappointment, also because the salesperson did not tell us we could have had the ring reserved and held back until we returned! The lady that fist helped us was then, after apologizing for this, busy with another customer. A grumpy salesman then came to assistance and he offered to have the pattern on the ring that they already sold copied on two new rings. They would provide photos of that ring to the engraver and he would then create two rings with this unique pattern. After spending days looking for rings, this was our best shot. Despite the unfriendly tone and feeling we were bothering this man we agreed to have this done. (yes we were tired, but this pattern was worth it) Photos were taken and the total price was made up. The discount that this lady offered first was thrown of the table and laughed away by mister grumpy. While before the copying of the pattern was free of charge we now had to pay 60 pounds per ring. Even worse and never seen before, we had to pay 5 pounds for EACH letter we wanted to have engraved to the inside of the ring. all shops, even with the worst customer service offered engraving of names for free. No, here you will have to pay. Well only first names it is then, no surnames or dates. Incredible One week later the rings returned. With the pattern, that was clearly shown on the photos that were sent was engraved of lovely golden rings. One problem, the pattern on the rings we got was COMPLETELY different. Probably the engraver took as much as gold from our rings as possible because a heavy floral print was now visible on the rings. True they were nice, but against all wishes of us the client, without any care or friendliness, or warning beforehand. There was no time to change or fight the end result our wedding date was around the corner. So we took these, paid 150 pound more that was originally agreed. and hopefully with this review warn others when they buzz the bell at Andrew R Ullmann. I would suggest to avoid walking into this shop at all cost...

My fiancé and I came to the shop to buy an engagement ring together. We had a tiny budget and wanted something unique to treasure. The help we received was personal, and we found the perfect ring for about half our budget! The ring was re-sized within days and fits perfectly. I couldn't be happier with the experience and recommend them to everyone.

Wonderful shop! After looking online, it was the first place we went in our search for an antique engagement ring -- and we didn't have to go anywhere else. The service was warm and friendly, and the lady who assisted us listened to our description of what we wanted and knew what we were looking for better than we did. She suggested a ring I never would have looked at twice, but loved the second she handed it to me. There was no sales pressure, thoughtful service, and we even ended up spending less than our budget on a ring I adore. We'll be going back for our wedding bands.

I visited this sorry excuse of a jewellers late last year and how I wish I had not bothered ! My husband treated me to what we were told was an antique 18ct guard chain. As it was a special birthday my husband paid £1600. We thought we had purchased a quality item. How wrong we were ! When we got home I had a closer look at the chain and could find no hallmark, in fact on the swivel fastener something had been scratched out. I decided to recently have the chain valued and included on our house insurance at a reputable jewellers. Imagine my surprise to be told it was actually only 12 ct. DO NOt SHOP HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF !!

Really really disappointed by the service. The woman who worked at the shop took one look at me and decided that I wasn't worthy of her time and going to buy anything... prejudice and judgemental. She was extremely rude and had a hostile personality. I was very happy to spend my money elsewhere.

Owner was very unfriendly, and couldn't be bothered to assist me. I was going to buy jewelry for my girlfriend and the first thing he asked me right away without any greetings was how much I have to spend, after which he laughed and send me off. I bought jewelry there before from his son I believe, he was very friendly and forthcoming. Very unfortunate, they got a great history, but that last experience really put me off to go there again.

My Fiancé and I had the most wonderful experience here. Searching for wedding bands, we were a bit disheartened by the identikit shops around Hatton Gardens that look like they’re trying to sell you a mortgage or car, but Ullmans is a gorgeous vintage oasis amongst this! The lovely lady that helped us allowed us to take all the time we wanted, and reassured us that all the beautiful old rings could be resized (and very reasonably), and gave us the fascinating history about the halllmarks and where the rings had come from. I came out totally floating and can’t wait to pick them up! Thanks so much Ullmans, we shall be back for more of your treasures!
