That was the worst renting experience I have ever had. The car was old and disgusting. The whole experience was massively disapointing.
It started quite well and the pick up was wery quick. Unfortunately I realised it was quick not because the service was good, only because the person who served me tried to get rid of me. Maybe I wasn't the most lucrative customer but I was still a customer. On the contract my personal details were made up and additional insurance wasn't proposed.
Then there was the car. It was an eight year old renault capture (I never had a car that old and I rent cars frequently). The car was in very poor condition. Unfortunately I was in a hurry and I wasn't able to check the interior until I arrived home. The Interior had multiple disgusting stains on the rear seats, there was a massive spider web behind the front passenger seat and everything was covered in dust.
I decided to go back and ask for a different car. In Strafford one of staff members offered me three alternative cars: Fiat Panda which looked like someone was living in it (filled with weird things/rubbish). Nissan Micra which looked dirty and abandoned. And finally a fairly new Hyundai for an additional fee of £60. Obviously that a was great opportunity for them to make extra money.
I didn't want to ruin my trip so I asked them to at least hoover the interior. Eventually the person who served me removed the spider webs and cleaned a bit the back seats. I was shocked at the low level of customers service they provide. I left the Strafford yard just before closing time.
And the cherry on top was when I opened the dashboard compartment and I found an old rotting banana peel.
I can't recommend this place.

Best place to rent in Brighton! Competitive prices when compared with the other main rental companies. Always really good spec vehicles and competent team. Have used several of the local options for van rental and this is the best by far!!

We dropped the van back on the Saturday
The woman said all was fine!!!

Got a message to say they wanted £1194 for a dent to the bumper ( there wasn't when we dropped it off.)
Steve said he would inquire with the other couple who had rented the van.as they were on their way home from Spain.
Instead went straight to our bank to take the money!!! Thankfully Barclays stopped the payment

It is not the first time for me to rent a car, but unfortunately it was the first time that I was taken wrongly, I paid 196£ for 5 days, and after I drop the car I was charged 196£ for a problem in one of the wheels, the strange in the invoice they are charging for 4 wheels, however I was having full insurance for the car, also I was disappointed because when I drop the car evening was okay, after few hours I received an email saying we already deducted the amount from you card, howwwww, No photos, one weird invoice, what is the meaning of paying full insurance,

Great local car hire business. I'd been a longtime Enterprise loyalist until the Brighton branch held a $1000 deposit for several weeks after finding a rice grain sized chip in the windshield upon returning a car.
Strafford, on the other hand, doesn't make me feel like I'm borrowing my friend's brand new BMW when I just need a compact for the weekend - makes for a much less stressful experience!

Just plain Rude. I have been hiring cars and vans regularly for twenty years in UK and abroad, and this is hands down the worst company I've dealt with.
Non stop defensive and confrontational attitude from the front desk man.
From the moment I arrived it was as if I was an inconvenience. I saw a beautiful car, and asked how much are the sports cars to hire, and the reply was not an answer, but instead a load of blurb about what my obligations would be as a hirer and how restricted the conditions are. I JUST ASKED HOW MUCH.
Then the van was given to me and I was told there was no proper after hours key drop off OR EVEN PARKING, and that if I got a parking ticket or the van was damaged then that was down to me. Again, nothing but obstacles and negativity. I have never before hired a vehicle with no system of after hours drop off.
As I exited the yard, another member of staff was driving a vehicle in at the same time. Instead of going back ten feet to let me out, they made me reverse and wait for them to fully park before exiting. ASTONISHING lack of customer service and imagination. I will never use again.

We had a great experience renting motor home from Strafford. Frazer was extremely helpful with the booking process and Charlie who dealt with the pick up and drop off was brilliantly informative. The motor home was brand new and was amazing drive and to live in for a few days at Goodwood festival of speed. I will definitely be using Strafford again in the future and highly recommend them.

We had to hire vehicles for a charity bike ride going from Brighton to Amsterdam . Fraser and his team were so helpful with our many questions of what was needed when driving abroad. The vehicles were clean and had petrol and were reliable throughout the trip. This is such an important part of our event and we have been let down before with other rental companies. We will most certainly be renting from them in future

Purchased a 2018 Ford Transit minibus from Strafford for export to Ireland, I dealt with Fraser. The entire transaction was seamless and straightforward and the staff at Strafford were both friendly and helpful. The few minor issues I had requested to be rectified with the vehicle were fully completed and the vehicle was spotlessly clean and ready for collection at the time we had agreed. Really good transaction with a great team of people and I would absolutely recommend them.

This is usually a frustrating process, with long waits, the obligatory insurance sales patter, hidden fees, etc. Recently I used Strafford for the first time and will definitely go back.
