This was the first time I used this company to hire a car, it saved me a lot of money and it was very easy hiring from their website. I needed the car for a trip with my friends and had them pick me up at the airport, so the pick up was excellent. Then after 3 days I had them pick up the car.
Overall, I’m really happy with this experience with Strafford Self Drive.

I was caucious as I had seen a couple of negative reviews, but I found the guys there at Strafford really friendly and most helpful especially as I was a bit green on the driving a van front!!!
We had to hire a van to help with our office move - I had never driven a van before the the guys at Strafford self drive - had to show me where all the controls were and how and where to fill up.....
they were really friendly and helpful and the van was in good condition so easy to drive.
I would use them again.

I booked a van in less the 24 hours notice; a brand new Transit van was awaiting. The paper work was simple and a very kind man explain all the bits and bobs of driving the motor. The van itself was immaculate. I would recommend this hire company without hesitation. Rachel and Steve were the people I dealt with and I score them 12 out of ten

No idea what these few bad reviews about this van hire company are all about as I could not fault the whole experience from start to finish maybe these people are running some kind of vendetta against Strafford as I would ALWAYS recommend these guys as my number 1 hire company!
I have rented vehicles many times from Strafford and I have NEVER had a problem!

**WARNING**
We hired a Camoervan, which we looked after and gave a very good clean upon return, they then decided there was £700 worth of damage including £28 for a dirty pot and other highly inflated cosmetic marks. All this days after being told to dump the van in a travelers yard with the keys in the glovebox.
We have tried and tried to contact regarding this to just be told it looks good on us in court if they are not responding. Very strange business.

Had to take to court- dishonest owner, with a web of companies used to try and avoid any liability!
I bought a motorhome from Fraser Strafford, the owner, for £37k in November 2017. It had a damaged bumper, which he promised to fix, it took 6 months for him to get the parts at which point he refused to pay fitting £210 on a £37k van. I had to take him to court (hearing December 2018) where he stated I bought the van from his father's insolvent company and it was his father's fault! The judge saw through his dishonesty and awarded me all the money, travel, some loss of earnings and court fees against Fraser personally.
Avoid, or at least confirm and check which company you are dealing with. Use credit cards to provide a backup in case he just folds another company! Use Companies House online to check the status of the company and get everything in writing! You've been warned! Shame you can't give zero stars.

I wanted to rent a motorhome in sussex when visiting brighton recently and stumbled upon strafford. They offered a brand new 6 berth motorhome at under 800 pounds for a week. We arrived and collected said motorhome which was BRAND NEW with under 2000 miles. They tutored us with it and honestly made us feel at home with the product. We had a brilliant time with their machine and will be back. Thanks again

needed a van for the weekend as I was moving property. they gave me a big Luton van and I was able to fit everything in 2 runs. thought I would have issues with the sofa but it was all OK. i was also able to bring the van back earlier than I needed. if I ever move again I will be using Strafford self drive.

Lots of help advising my brother-in-law on the best size of van to shift a house hold of stuff from a holiday let. Did it all in one load after a couple of trips to the dump and saved hundreds on an earlier plan to get a removals company to do it. Watch out for height restrictions, if you're thinking of taking things to the dump. For the cost of pint, we were lucky enough to find someone with an estate car to drive a few old mattresses the final 50 metres and under the barrier. Would use again every time. Particularly friendly - thanks!

I could be classified as a challenging customer. Rented a car for a day at short notice, not ever having rented a car for many years was a little concerned regards excesses and the small print.
Paid a small sum of money to reduce the excess to £111, mileage restriction (as this was a short hire) was upped at no extra cost. Car was a good 'runner' (Mondeo Titanium) and made the 400 mile round trip in good time and EXCELLENT comfort; 110,000 miles on the clock showed they had maintained the vehicle well.

Rented van and was treated like an idiot! Almost threatened if I damaged new van and staff member was berated by female manager and had to deal with us in tears! It was pretty shocking. It was disorganised & poor. Looking at other reviews maybe they've improved since but I'd never go here again! It was an unforgettable experience.

Good old Steve Strafford Van and Car Hire rental saved the weekend for me in the days of Lancaster Court opposite King Alfred now known as Enterprise rent a Car still owned by Steve. I had to move my house contents from one house to another back in 1995 and found Steve's Vans very reliable and capable for the job.I also remember a service with a smile and very helpful staff...the rates were very reasonable and would definitely recommend using this company.
