I normally get good service from Evans,. However, today I needed a bike repair, I called several times to a couple of their stores and none of them picked up the phone. So I took a cab to bring the bike to one of them, upon arrival they told me they are understaffed and not taking any repair works. I asked if any of the other stores could take it and they said they couldn't tell because they are not answering phones in the other stores either! So now I am down £50 in cabs and no fix for the bike. It should be pretty elemental to put something on the website to let customers know not to take repairs to them or, better yet, for them to pick up the phone and answer basic questions such as 'are you taking in repair works?' Not happy at all.

Fantastic bike shop. Really friendly and helpful mechanics and staff. I got honest help and didn't feel like I was being up-sold at all. Highly recommended !! Looking at other reviews it seems their phone system is awful - but if your looking to just walk in for some advice/a quick fix they are the place to to go.

I went in to get my gears indexed and Matt and Tim were fantastic and helped get my gears working again. My derailleur was bent and they straightened it for me. Fast , friendly and professional service. Would use them again.

A (not so) funny thing happened on the way to work. My pedal fell off as I was cycling. I was near the shop so I asked the workshop if they could help me. They found the right bolt (even though my bike is v old) and fitted the pedal back on securely within minutes of me arriving... and they refused to take a penny from me. I got to work on time! Very kind and great service.

Amazing place with very helpful staff! I had bought mudguards from them the other day and tried installing them myself but i had trouble with some of the screws, and one of the staff members Daniel was so helpful and adjusted them for free! Fantastic service. Its a pleasure for me to come here with my bike issues and I always leave very satisfied.

Great service, cheap price. Tim fixed my bike in 10min and even helped carrying my bike back upstairs. They ran out of the inner tube I needed but helped me ordering one on internet and then got it send straight to the shop

Sadly this place seems to lack any kind of direction. Was told to expect a phone call to confirm my bike was ready for collection after a servicing (so I wouldn’t have to traipse all the way to central london for it not to be ready). No phone call received. No email received. I know businesses have become fond of blaming covid 19 for any personal failings, but this rather takes the piss I would say. Don’t hold out much hope for Evans if this is the chosen direction. Shame.

My son and I popped into Evans to have his new bike serviced, taking advantage of the free service within 6 weeks of purchase, although our visit was 6 months after purchase because of lockdown. Service was excellent with some professional advice. We wanted to raise the handle bar (kids soon grow) however we needed an extension part to do so. The assistant found the product online and we purchased it there and then. Took the bike back the following week to have it fitted which they did free of charge. My son and I are definitely impressed with the excellent service we received from Evens Cycles. Thanks.

Alas, staff are helpful when you are actually in the store (albeit, they don't answer the phone - nor do they reply to any emails). Their IT system is useless. Incapable of returning an item and issuing the refund. Looked on Evans Cycle website and there is no helpline number to call. Evans Cycle is very difficult to contact. It is like talking to the wall most of the time. Better to go to other smaller independent bike shops.

Hi I was in London and got stuck with a flat tyre over the new year. I got it fixed on n the 2nd, bought a new tube and all only to find it flat the next day. When I went back on the 3rd, they replaced it with another new tube, and reinforced it with the old tube and didn't charge me a penny for the second time! ! ! All done within minutes with no prior appointment.... Now that what I call 5 star service!!!!!! ##

A huge thank you to Dan. I dropped in hoping to get some help with the chain I had got hopelessly stuck in the crankset. He promptly came to help and kept trying (needed lots of brute force and some clever thinking) until the problem was solved. Do you ever answer the phone? I'm up to 19 attempts in the space of 3 hours. I get that sometimes you'll be out on the shop floor so can't answer, but give me a break. Have had this same issue with the clapham branch numerous times as well & I see this is mirrored across reviews for your other branches. You clearly are not reading your TrustPilot reviews because just answering the phone more often would already improve them.

Had my brake pads changed there recently. When I collected the bike none of the wheels were spinning as the pads were touching it. They said that there is nothing else they can do and I need to change all braking system. As I eventually got home it took me 30 minutes and some sandpaper to make it good. Definitely never coming back

STAY WELL CLEAR.. I am not joking when I say that I have never experienced worse customer service anywhere in my entire life. My bike required replacement brake handles. I took it in in the 18th of August. I was informed that the order would be placed and that it would take 2-3 days. 1 week later I was still waiting. The phone system was down so I could not phone them. There was no obvious email address either so I went into the shop. I was informed that the order would take longer. Upon asking how long they could not tell me. I decided to leave it a little longer and see how it went. One week later nothing. Again I went back in person. I enquired why no one had called or emailed me with an update. I received a load of excuses but nothing like an apology. I left it further as the bike was not safe to ride. I then had a holiday booked so left the bike for a further week. Again no one tried to call or email to confirm the status of the order. Just left in limbo. Upon returning from holiday I had enough so ordered the parts on Amazon. They arrived the next day (yesterday) and today I took the parts in for fitting. Again I enquired why no attempt to contact me had been made. No apology just some pathetic excuses about systems. (Like a system prevents you picking up the phone for a bike you have had sitting in your workshop for nearly 3 weeks!)... once the parts I provided were with them they did fit fairly quickly however they have charged me for a new back break pad which quite simply has not been changed- feels exactly the same as before - worn! I will now have to return for a refund ! I am told that some issues are due to the recent take over by Soorts Direct. But as above some of this was just basic keeping me informed - or rather lack of it! IF YOU HAVE A REPAIR ISSUE AT THE MOMENT STAY AWAY. They don’t care enough to pick up the phone or send you an update email. Go elsewhere.

I had the best service ever from DAN at Evans and think this is the bike repair shop that I have been dreaming of. I came out of John Lewis to a flat tyre at 5.20 yesterday, a Saturday afternoon. I googled nearby bike shops and found Evans ready and willing to help. Dan carefully fitted a new tube and gave the bike a once over, all by 6.00. Amazing service, shop and atmosphere. Bike lovers without being posh/trendy ! and great value. I will send all my family and friends there.

Checked the opening times on Google Maps and then travelled in to the store today but was disappointed to find it closed for the day with a paper sign on the door. While I was standing there for 30 seconds, someone else walked up with a bike, stared at the sign, looked annoyed and walked away. I'm sure many others over the course of the day too. I'm sure there was a legitimate reason for the closure (hopefully staff haven't been hit with COVID) and I understand that these things happen, but it would have saved me (and probably a lot of other people) a lot of time if any person from the store had taken 30 seconds to mark the store as closed on Google Maps at the beginning of the day. It's so easy to do..

Rang in advance to check had parts required and told to drop bike in and they would hold it while sourcing. On arrival told in fact could not source required left crank. Total waste of my time putting unrideable bike on train to get there then having to take taxi home as can't put bike on train to come home after 4. I'd like to be reimbursed my opportunity cost and cost of taxi fare. Any chance? Spoke with Matt, Mortimer Street. Extremely unhappy with that experience, especially as it's an Evans own brand bike.

Fantastic service all around. Very nice staff every time I’m there, and they are doing their best to accommodate every demand this busy time for them. Currently you may have to queue outside, but that’s understandable. I’ve gotten many bike parts from here and all are top notch with good quality (better than you can buy of amazon) with amazing price.

It's one of the best bike shop I've been, the problem is both time I went there I have been barely acknowledged by the people who work there. My colleagues from work feel the same, all the time five or more people beyond the counter and nobody even raise their head. Don't get me wrong, they are great in their job and polite...when you manage to get their attention.

I was stunned at the unreal service I received at Evans today (November 8). Disaster struck as I was cycling in Central and got a savage flat tyre. I was in a panic as what to do due to Lockdown 2.0. I rang them and they explained that they would be able to help. Once I got there with the parts I needed, I was greeted by a lovely employee in the workshop who literally could not have been any nicer. Sorted my bike out in half an hour and I was back on the open road. Peace of mind secured due to the great service of all the staff I met at Evans, would definitely recommend.

Dan was on the main reception when I walked in. He was already on his way out for a break. He asked if I wanted some help, so he then took the next ten mins to give the bike the once over. Thanks Dan, great customer service and focused on a newbie to cycling again after 28 years away, did not make me feel a child. Need more like Dan in this world. Dan was the most helpful staff I have ever come across. TBH, I had a REALLY bad experience with my first visit, but today as I was ready to collect my new bike, Dan just saved the day as he got me 'newbie' everything I needed with amazing efficiency and he clearly has a passion for bikes. Wonderful customer service from him. Quick tip: if you want someone who's patient and willing to explain even the most basic things, ask for Dan. He's the one to go to.
