I have been using sum up for my new business -Head Case Curios for just over a year now. So easy to use..good prices and fast, safe banking. I once needed tech support, and over the phone was talked through what I needed to do , and within a few minutes the problem was resolved. Looking forward to seeing and using the latest unit they have just released. 100% recommended for any start up or small independent trader.

A TERRIBLE AND VERY BAD EXPERIENCE I am the owner of two businesses (travel agency and tour operator) and last year I bought two Sumup readers in promotion. Sumup suspended both accounts for both businesses although I had not yet started using these in my businesses which are fully online. Do not use this service provider, it lacks professionalism and competence

dreadful service. do not recommend and willing to leave one star reviews wherever i can. set up their service few weeks ago: everyone is nice and pleasant - very helpful. till the first transaction made..... endless questions about this and that including invoices with customers info on it. emails replies are over 2 days.. long story short - my account was deleted by them, all transactions on hold. had to contact all clients to ask to pay it directly into a bank account - few are now refusing to do so, as havent got a refund yet. Absolute nightmare and massive embarrassing in front of the clients. never again.

SCAM COMPANY!!! You will find it out as soon as you have to contact them: NOTHING IS WORKING!!! No replies, no solutions!!! Refer a Friend deal? :D It's also a SCAM!!! As soon as you try to apply it, it turns out: they can suspend the deal ANYTIME THEY WANT!!! :D Oh, it's still shows it's active on the site?!?! No worries: after you file a complaint they remove it the next day from the official sites as it was never there!!! If this is a trustworthy company that you'd like to handle your money: the answer is a big NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Honestly someone should sue them finally!!!

Ordered a card reader on Sept 21st 2020, my order is still stuck on 'payment received' with no answers as to why. Truly awful customer services. Online chat bot is repetitive with no actual answers and seemingly no way to be transferred to a human. Phone just rings and rings with no answer. Emails are also unanswered. Shocking.

When it works it’s good but they suffer from server issues every week this last months and losing transactions during this difficult time so reliability has to be questions. I’m having to get a Izettle as a back up and I recommend this if using SumUp when their servers go down one is not left dead in the water

Terrible moneytransfer policy: Our bank account (in Switzerland) was charged on Thurday, but payment to the dealer in Italy was withheld by Sumup based on fishy reasons (they had our money!!!) for several business days. Clear message to all dealers: KEEP AWAY FROM SUMUP!

Had my account as a sole merchant processing personal transactions for around 6 months but until recently started to actually use my card reader. Still awaiting customer support to change my address details after 2 weeks of emailing. So far I've done around £15 worth of transactions and have been paid within 2 days into my bank! Love how quick and easy it is to use the app and i'm thrilled that this type of technology is becoming more accessible for everyday people to use.

This company has very poor customer service and are not able to explain where my money is or how long it will take for me to get it. I keep getting told that the security team have it and that they are reviewing it, this has been for the last 2 weeks, unfortunately I have had to ask for the £430 payment to be sent back to the purchaser so that we can pay it another way instead. I will not be recommending this product to other business friends of mine.

SumUp has to date proved excellent on payments. Only real issue I have found is the time it takes for card unit to activate to take card if in sleep mode. Improves if plugged into power all the time. Could also do with a flat fee rate rather than percentage for Debit Cards in line with major providers E-mail responses can be a little slow but generally good within 24 hours. Asks for same / duplicate items for change of business/personal address.

I use Sum-up for my small Acupuncture Practice and it works really well. Payments are processed roughly 2 days after transaction. Customer services deal with queries quickly and efficiently. The only reason this is not a 5 star is it would be nice to have an option of sending payments through same day instead of having to wait 2-3 days.

I love my Sum-up, it is so simple and quick to use, and I don't mind the small fee charged for the convenience that it gives me. The first one I had broke so I emailed them. Within three days I had a new one, free of charge, and they even paid for me to return the broken one! Amazing service!! What more could you ask for? Thank you, Sum-up for helping my business run so smoothly.

We've been very pleased with the whole SumUp experience since we joined late last year. Some of the key pluses have been: their communications are clear and relevant, the notifications and speed of payment transfers are excellent, the card reading system seems to work very well indeed, and is easy to access - and the battery of the card-reader plays a blinder in terms of lasting after initial charge-up! . Their whole ethos and philosophy is so much more engaging, down-to-earth, balanced and personal than the card-reading providers we've had dealings with before. We've contacted SumUp's central help guys by phone and email a few times (especially important for our planned business taking payments in the U.S.A. next month) and they've been bright, prompt, responsive and reassuring. In every case we've been impressed by their 'can do', 'no fuss' attitude. We hope this beautiful relationship will continue and consolidate!

The most dreadful company you could ever deal with. Holding a large chunk of our weekly sales randomly for no apparent reason has meant we had to take out a business loan to cover costs. I STRONGLY ADVICE to read section 6.5 of the ‘terms’ and conditions...Do not trust this cowboy set up, any sane business person on this planet would be a gracious fool to leave their business funds in their hands.

If it was possible to leave 0 stars I would have. This company is quite extraordinary, I purchased one of these machines with the idea that I may need it one day for an outdoor event. When turning on the machine it came up with a message saying that the device was blocked and that I should contact customer support. I was told that nothing could be done about the fault and that I was to purchase a new one at a discount. THE MACHINE HAD NEVER BEEN USED, IT WAS STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX!!!!!! Rather comical, why on earth would you re-purchase something that did not work in the first place !!!!

Initially signed up to have the ability to take card payments for our UK business. Quickly found out that UK support is non-existent, either by phone (which rings out), live chat (that gets cut short) or email (where you get short answered by a bot). I do not like leaving poor reviews but if you want the ability to take card payments, I would genuinely advise you to look elsewhere - I am moving to Square who have UK support and are willing to help businesses.

Using sum up for nearly 3 years and have had no problems. My only gripe is they changed their charge from 1.95% to 1.69% and didn’t tell exsisting customers or give them the new rate. This rate was used to attract new customers. A year later after finding out, I contacted them and was allowed the new rate but not any reimbursement for the year paying a higher fee. Another case of long term customers not getting deals for loyalty.

Absolutely useless. If you’re serious about your business don’t get hooked up on cheap processing rates. There is a good reason for low rates – SUMUP customer support is below inadequate, it’s so bad that it will leave you scratching your head trying to understand how asking same question you get 3 different answers from 3 different agents. When emailed so called complaint department, I got answer from 4th person, and guess what – it was completely different from other 3… Good luck trying to run business using SUMUP, easiest option – close account and stick to something that works maybe with higher rates but adequate support.

Very good most of the time, as a mobile operator I use it in different locations.... it relies on you having a good mobile phone connection.... if you are in a poor connection area, it will not work.

Machine is always give you trouble while connecting through Bluetooth. It is so embarrassing when customer waiting to make payment and you are juggling and praying to machine to connect with your phone device. Have tried so many times reset on phone before it finally get connected and after one or two transaction it will start giving you same trouble again. Called agent for help and he was telling me same things to login and logout from app, delete, install, reset device. Keeping doing this every time when customer waiting to make payment.

dont use them !!! , ask for documents for payments then block your account then reject your custom. all they do is make you feel like a criminal , then refund the money which is yours back to the customers. and expect me to do the hard work of getting the monies owed AGAIN !!! if i was you stay well clear !!!!

Paid for card reader 22nd of december still waiting for card reader.sent email several times with proof of payment but no response yet. We have been using Sumup for more than a year for our popup store needs, trade shows and consumer fairs. I am so glad I switched from Paypal/Worldpay because the Sumup device is so seamless across Android and apple. And what I love about it is if you travel overseas, you can also take payment - you just need to let customer service know in advance and they will activate your machine. This means we do shows in the USA and are able to take payments easily. It's brilliant and I would highly recommend. The only feedback I would give is I wish it had a daily summary of cash intake or a summary dashboard on the App. This would make checking and hitting targets much easier for my team.

They close a business account without any warning, leaving the company unable to collect money during a fundraising event. A complaint was opened but they don't bother at all. They are so bad that they even didn't refund the £29+vat for each terminal purchase. Matter brought to the financial ombudsman. Advice: STAY AWAY

While we would not say "Avoid', we would advise caution before using SumUp. Very poor service, thought migrating from normal terminals to SumUp would be a good way to move towards HMRC asking for electronic accounts and the paperless office. After a few weeks they decided that they would take payments but not send them out to our bank account while they wanted to review invoicing. Having set up with them as a Ltd company, we have provided considerable business information along with directors details and a host of information to ensure we are a bone-fide company prior to taking any payments. It is untenable to be willing to take funds, but then to hold them indefinitely with no assurance on the speed of any review or the ratio of these checks in the future. We take our customers security seriously but their security team refuse to talk to an account holder and customer services have very little real information to deal with anything but the most mundane questions. From a confidentiality and GDPR point, being asked for a copy of a full invoice that contains other customer details AND being asked for information on what was paid for plus a description is breaking our customers confidence. Were a business to be offering services of a personal or intimate nature such a request could be very embarrassing. In our opinion 7 days should be allowed to provide information, this is a reasonable time period for any legitimate company to locate requested information and contact their own customer for consent to share details of the payment. In our opinion, SumUp has someone making poor decisions, without considering the ramifications to either their customers or impact on our customers.
