Found this Guitar store store off the beaten path. Wonderful collection of Santa Cruz and Collings acoustics, not many places you can play these guitars side by side. Great staff and great atmosphere. I found what i wanted !

I bought a guitar from them just before Xmas 2016. Initially I was given the advice / guidance I sought, but then (importantly) left to try out the guitars I was interested in, and shown how to use the amp the cable was hooked up to.
The guitar itself was a fair price, and I exchanged a guitar for part payment, and was offered a very fair price for it. When I got the guitar home, I found some issues I didn't spot in the shop. On speaking to them, it was booked in, and given a full setup for free to resolve all the issues; should they have been picked up before being offered for sale? Probably. However, most importantly, they were all resolved quickly, with no fuss, and the guitar came back playing beautifully.
I'd happily return.

Unless something amazing happens upstairs, the pictures are in no way representative. Even though I was the only customer, I was ignored by the staff. So I spent an inordinate amount of time choosing some plectrums. If I go back again it will be simply to annoy them. Don't bother with this place, go directly to Denmark Street and have a properly enjoyable shopping experience.

Bought an acoustic from them last January. I can't fault them: they were very helpful, never pushy, and gave me plenty of space to test the guitars and select the right one for me. They've also given prompt and polite aftercare. I would definitely shop there again. Highly recommended!

If I start in the middle at 3 stars and give or take away stars dependent on my experience I feel my review will be fair. I am not the only person who has had a bad experience with staff at this shop. I walked, said hi and got a filthy look from one of the salesmen who clearly hates his job. Minus 1 star. The second salesman was mildly helpful while I played 5 guitars but 2 out of the 5 didn't work. They had no working pickup selector at all on 1 and another guitar with no neck pickup. Minus another star. Every guitar guitar I played had such old strings it made every guitar harder to play as the fingers stick, even on the £5000 Collings semi acoustic I tried. This also makes the guitars sound dead. There are no more stars to minus.
So, what you get for spending hundreds if not thousands at this shop is uncared for instruments (alarm bells), which are sold by rude miserable people who look down their noses at you. Not impressed at all.

There are just too few stars available for rating Ivor Mairants. Great communication and fast delivery to Iceland. After a minor mishap with the order the correct items were shipped right away, no questions asked. Ivor Mairants is my "corner-shop" from now on. Thanks for being at the top of the game!

I bought a classical guitar from here a few years ago, the service that I received was fantastic! When I wanted help/advice there was a member of staff there to give it; when I wanted to be left alone to play various guitars then they were fine with it! I tried about 20 guitars that day, very patient staff, and willing to do a bit of a deal!!

I purchased an Eastman Acoustic guitar that had a couple of minor issues that others may not have noticed. Despite the fact that it was discounted as ex demo the after sales service was excellent. Though bought online the store (Mak) arranged collection and the issues sorted and a new set up done. After sales is what really counts and I would buy again from Ivor Mairants.

I got my new Lowden S23 some weeks ago and I just can say thank you. Absolutely thrilled with this beautiful guitar!
I couldn't be happier with the service. Communication was fluent and more than great before and after the purchase.
The parcel arrived without any damages although it was an international shipping that was something I was a little bit worried about.

I was looking for a jazz box, and wanted to try out a few brands such as Eastman and Godin. I went to Ivor Mairants as I knew they had these brands. Walked in, asked to try out a few archtops - no problems. Asked for a bit of advice and that was forthcoming too. I didn't get on with any of the guitars I went there to try, so I picked up another one that I'd heard of but not considered. As soon as I picked it up, the chao who'd I been talking to said, "That's a nice guitar". And he was right. It really was. I left soon after and wandered around Denmark Street and played some awful guitars while being forced to listen to people try and play Nirvana riffs. Naturally, all the prices round there were inflated by a few hundred quid, and the staff were very pushy (particularly in the vintage shops). The staff also weren't that knowledgeable. I left, and returned to Mairants and tried out that last guitar I'd tried. It was already plugged in as someone else had auditioned it. I bought it. It didn't need a set up, and anything that needed sorting on it was done there and then by the staff. Absolutely no issues. If anything, it is one of the friendliest guitar shops I've been in - one that doesn't push the hard sell. I've been playing for over 25 years, so I've been in a few. Well done, Mairants. Am enjoying my new guitar.

Good selection of semi acoustics - e.g, Eastman, Ibanez, Gibson, Godin, D'Angelico,...
The staff is discrete, competent and let me try the guitar for as long as I wanted.
If you search hard eventually you can find slightly cheaper prices elsewhere, however I didn't find the prices very uncompetitive, so it's ok to take the guitar that you like when you find one. Especially if it's a rare pre-owned - they normally have few.

I had the worst welcome experience in the shop. Staff is so rude. I am always surprised to see how some people in love with musical instruments and music in general can be so unfriendly. I just wanted to check with their guitar tech a problem I have with my guitar. But my request clearly annoyed the guy at the counter, as i didn't "book it" first, which was very surprising to hear considering I exchanged a few emails with them before, and no information of this kind have been provided to me. The guy at the counter was really annoyed by that, ( even if the lack of communication were coming from their side) and went back on his computer screen without paying more attention to my request. He told me briefly to go downstairs but the guitar tech was not there. I left the shop with a very cold "good bye " from the guy. It's a shame, as they have beautiful high end instruments, and you think you will have a better relationship than the usual sellers on Denmark street...sadly it's not the case.
