Great experience with the Alice in wonderland afternoon tea. Venue is elegant and comfortable. Also surprisingly kids friendly. Food is not the best I’ve ever had but the decoration really is unique. Overall good experience and would recommend for others.

We choose the theme of Alice wonderland for our afternoon tea. The Decoration was fancy. Pricy but worth to pay it. As service is excellent. Friendly staffs helped us to take a lot of photos????????

The decor is incredible and the staff are really friendly and accommodating.
The menu is well constructed and attention to detail to the food produced is superior. The jam (with the scones) is excellent and the flavour profile is fitting for the afternoon tea theme.

With that said. The tea is a let down as it does lack flavour when compared to other afternoon teas. The deserts are incredibly sweet and very messy and the scones crumble into dust with the slightest bit of pressure.

Overall, I would definitely return for the memorable theme and exceptional detail but the messiness of the afternoon tea does knock off a star in my opinion

Underwhelmed to be honest. Nice sandwiches, nice scones but the cakes were nothing special. Only one of the desserts I liked. They also don’t replenish any scones or any of the desserts you liked. You only get to try one tea as well and they don’t give you any other options to try others. For £45, I don’t think that’s justifiable. The only afternoon tea I’ve been to they doesn’t replenish for that much money.

Kona at the Taj 51 has some amazing afternoon tea themes. We went for the Alice in Wonderland theme. When we arrived the table was already set up with some props to fit with the theme which were cool. The food itself was also delicious and really went well with the theme. One of the party is pregnant and they were very good at making a menu safe for her to eat. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here.

On short notice, we had a wonderful experience with the Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea. I don't have enough words to describe how wonderful it was. Have a look at the pictures, and judge by yourself. The next time I go London I will order a Sherlock Holmes Afternoon tea 24 h. In advance. Thanks to the staff to be so nice to us, the make this possible for us in 45 minutes.

If you’re looking for a themed afternoon tea, look no further than Kona. It is situated right past the courtyard of the Taj hotel. They have 18 different teas to choose from and several different themes that must be reserved 24 hours in advance. I did their take on Mary Poppins and it was fantastic plus a TON of food. Highly recommend.

After endless excitement over Indian-style afternoon tea, we were let down by the experience. The savoury snacks were excellent along with the lassi and chikki, but the desserts were a phenomenal let down and weren't up to the standards you'd expect from Taj. Nearly all desserts tasted the same - the only difference was their size and shape. Plus there are no refills. At nearly £50 per person, that's atrocious. Every other afternoon tea we've been to has unlimited refills and they cost about the same or less. This makes the afternoon tea feel more like a thali / set lunch and less of an afternoon tea.

Jasmine Afternoon Tea at Kona.
Located near Buckingham palace, within the Taj51 hotel and the setting is very pretty.
Our booking was for 12.30pm and we arrived 5 mins or so early.
When we arrived- unfortunately Kona didn't have anyone to greet us so when you proceeded to enter the restaurant, one of the staff came out and said the restaurant isnt ready yet (not in the most nice and polite way). As other guests came in, they were treated the same. There weren't enough space in the lobby area so people were just left hanging around. Shortly after the hotel receptionist kindly took some guests to the hotel reception area to take a seat.
Given that this is supposed to be luxury experience- it makes sense to have someone to welcome the guests arriving for the afternoon tea.
Once the door was open - they were a bit more efficient to take our coats and show us our table.
The afternoon tea itself was Indian inspired and it is a bit hit and miss. The paneer pakora and the tikka wrap were excellent but didn't enjoy the tomato sandwich so much.
Masala tea lacked flavour but Turkish apple tea was great!
Desserts were the best of the afternoon tea and they nailed the selection except for the cookies which were really hard to bite into.
The waitress that hosted us was very nice and friendly.
For £45 pp and 12.5% I thought it was decent. We did have a bit of leftover which we took home!

I've been there for an afternoon tea. Rosario, the Restaurant Manager, and the team greeted and hosted us to the table. The lovely waitress Tania explained the whole menu and the concept of their afternoon tea. Tea is served in a very nice teapot, when sandwiches and pastry arrived.... What a nice surprise! We've had a mango smoothie with chocolate brownie to start with, then sandwiches.... everything delicious. Scones chocolate and orange served with English clothed cream and fig jam. All the pastries were very good and everything presented in a very original way. Don't think i've ever seen such an original afternot tea like this one before. The room is cosy and with a relaxed atmosphere. Well done Kona, definitely an afternoon tea to try.... And repeat!

Came for afternoon tea, a nice take on an Indian afternoon tea. Could have been more authentic, giving more Indian dishes rather than just the normal sandwiches. The Indian style dishes were great but could have been served anywhere. Sweet dishes were amazing and service was exactly what would hope for at the Taj.

I saw others get different versions of the tea and they all look as good, next time I will have the Indian inspired!

Worst afternoon tea I've ever had. They got our booking wrong, even though I called twice so we couldn't get the afternoon tea I wanted. We settled to go for another tea theme and the food was okay (not great) and the service was horrible! Wouldn't go again!

Excellent service. However, given how nice the rest of the hotel is, the tea is served in a small and dark room with little character or grandeur. The food is average, incredibly sweet (and I have a sweet tooth!) and generally felt low quality - more like a kids party than a 5* hotel. No French pastries or cakes, flavours like bubblegum and items like jelly and a cream filled cup with m&ms on top. A disappointing experience and not worth the money. Would again say that the service was excellent so I cannot fault the staff. If looking for a genuine good quality tea you're better off going to the Corinthia hotel, Landmark hotel or similar.

PS. If you are a Suites resident at Taj 51, you can enjoy a Happy Hour at Kona from 6pm till 7pm. And the drinks come with canapés. Mhhh! Always worth a visit ????????????????

This was probably the most beautiful experience ever I felt like a princess. Was a birthday gift from my wife who knew how much I wanted to have Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea experience.
Everything was perfect from the moment you walked in to the service they provide, Tijn Alessandru is exceptional his hospitality top.
The cakes ,sandwiches, tea, table arrangement was simply lovely. The best tuna sandwich I had was there.
I totally recommend.

I had the afternoon tea with my family here for my niece's 12 birthday. I chose the Alice in Wonderland theme and she loved it. The tea selection is massive, the atmosphere is quiet and pleasant and the staff are very friendly and keen of making your experience as good as possible. Both the tea and the food are served generously. We ended up really full and we still got many scones left. The traditional sandwiches are quite bland, but the scones are really tasty and the rest of the sweets very original and clearly made for kids.

They do an excellent Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea thats well worth booking to go for. You can choose from an excellent selection of teas, have posh sandwiches and delicious cakes and scones! A lovely way to have afternoon tea.

We went there for their famous Tea experience. We absolutely loved it salted caramel lassi/gulabjamun cheese cake. The staff was very polite and accommodating,there are 22 choice of tea selection in the menu.Food quality was awesome and the ambience was beautiful. All in all we had a great time and would recommend!
