Really disappointing afternoon tea experience. We booked this for my mother in law who was visiting London. The sandwiches and cakes were fine, but nothing special. We waited over two hours for our cakes, which came out more than 1.5 hours after we had our sandwiches. No one explained that there was a delay, especially in light of the fact the booking was only meant to be for 2 hours! After we had already been waiting over an hour for the cakes after the sandwiches, the fire alarm went off! No staff told us to evacuate or gave any direction at all. After a few minutes the other guests started to leave because the rest of the hotel was evacuating. It was a false alarm and were were back in after a few minutes. Again, we were given no information. Our cakes took another half hour after this to come out. To top it all off, all the card machines were down and we had to try for about 20 minutes to pay! The decor and piano playing was lovely, but the whole experience all felt a little fawlty towers, which is disappointing especially given the price we paid! There are much better afternoon tea experiences to be had in London!

I went here for afternoon tea with my family and it was excellent. The food was delicious and our waiter was very kind and friendly! (And knowledgeable/professional.) We had never been to afternoon tea before, and he helped us all make tea selections based on our individual preferences that really gave us a full experience of the tea menu. He made us feel very welcome.

This is my and my friend's favourite place for Afternoon Tea. We have sampled Afternoon Teas across many London hotels, but Langham always exceeds our expectation. We were there yesterday to celebrate a new arrival to the family soon and had the 5.30 pm seating. The staff never forget a thing and their service is no less than perfection. They brought me a special treat to congratulate me. As we were not able to finish all the cakes, they were more than happy to pack them for us and even added a few additional treats in the bag. Thank you Langham staff for making our trip memorable every time! The girl and the guy looking after us provided an exceedingly good service and were incredibly attentive. The transition from the girl to the guy was smooth and she ensured he was fully updated on our choice of tea and what we were celebrating! Thank you, Nina

Listen to your waiter! Ask for Mr Matt! Palm Court is the in-house restaurant within the Langham Hotel, just past Oxford circus tube station. It's on the ground floor. Straight Head Pros: We took the set menu. Normal dinner price is £49. The service was amazing. Our waiter was Matt. He was so kind, friendly, yet professional. He really knows the menu! In short, just listen to Matt. If he recommends a dish. Just go for it! The lobster bisque soup was amazing. Warm. Indulgent. Rich. Yet with such complex flavours. The Scottish Buccleugh prime rib was huge! Juicy. Meaty. Admittedly, not as satisfying as Wagyu beef or a good USDA prime Nebraskan steak, but bloody good. Finally Matt was absolutely right. The pistachio creme brulee with girrotine cherry compote is clearly the best desert on the menu. Cons: None really. Don't eat too much bread. The prime rib is huge. If you eat too much bread, you won't be able to finish your main course. And miss out on the yummy food. In short. Palm Court is an amazing restaurant within the Langham Hotel. Ask Matt to be your waiter. If you lucky enough to have Matt as your waiter. You're in for a treat. Just order what he suggests. You won't regret it! I can't wait to come back to Palm Court again soon. I would definitely recommend Palm Court and their superb waiter Matt!

I dined here on a time out offer, 3 courses plus wine £35pp. The atmosphere was calm and inviting, live music was being played and the lounge was comfortable, if not a little cold. The service was 5 stars, the wine and cocktails were very nice, however the food left much to be desired. The beetroot that accompanied the salmon starter was overly sweet, and the salmon tasted one dimensional. I was advised when ordering my main course that the lamb is recommended medium, to which I agreed, however, it came out cold and rare so had to be sent back. They did replace my meal quickly, but my partner had finished eating by the time it arrived. The pear and ginger tatine was very nice and the extra desert they offered, I guess because of the issue with the lamb, was fruity and light.

Beautiful room and location. Wonderful service. Lovely tea, but the food was not very delicious. The carrot cake tasted like baby food. The sandwiches had too much butter and the fillings were bland. It's probably not the fault of the Langham, but rather my taste buds. I wouldn't do this tea again though.

Decent afternoon tea -- reservations are definitely needed but no strict dress code, which is welcome for foreign tourists but might not be as preferred for the locals. Typical sandwiches, scones and desserts with an extra chocolate cake to-go were included though the 90 pound per person bill was a bit hard to swallow.

We had afternoon tea here in May as a group of 4 friends. The food was gorgeous and the tea selection was lovely. However, having been to about 6 other popular afternoon tea places in London over the last few years, I have to say I've never felt quite as rushed as we did here. We were 10 minutes starting due to one of our party arriving a little late, however it felt like extra sandwiches were being brought round when we had only just finished 2 sandwiches! The waiter was attentive (almost a little too much) but quite tense and it showed in his service. It left us all feeling a bit like on a conveyer belt which was a shame. We brought it up with our waiter and said we had felt a bit rushed and his response was "well, maybe come during the weekday as we don't have as tight a turn around so you would have more time" Not quite what we wanted to hear as all working people! We suggested that maybe The Langham shouldn't try to cram in as many people as they could and make us feel like a money spinner!! Apart from that you couldn't fault the food!!

Enjoyed a lovely high tea with my daughter om jan 1st 2018. A nice doorman welcomed us at the entrance and we enjoyed a splendid service, lovely pink champagne as a starter and lovely and delicate teas to choose from. I had the sandwiches and very tasty and well baked scones. My daughter had the children high tea with gorgeous marzipan penguins, puzzelpieces made out of bread and many more gorgeous items and she also gotten a cuddle bear from her favorite toystore with her menu and it makes her ask when we will return again soon and have a sleep over too ! A Special thank you to the reception for the complimentary sechuan lotion i got after asking what brand it was in the ladies room, which i wanted to buy, but that was not possible but instead she was so nice to give me a tube... Top service! We are fans!

Absolutely the best afternoon tea. My wife has a seed allergy, the tea was specifically prepared for her allergy, but, importantly, she had seed free version rather than bland risk free that's been prepared for her in other places. The staff really cared for us and my wife in particular as it was her birthday treet. We will be back. Maybe not for a while, but it's inevitable. It is the best, best sandwiches, best scones, best cakes. A relaxing, comfortable, welcoming place to visit. Congratulations The Langham and the staff that makes it so very special.

At £60-70 this is a pricy afternoon tea that doesn’t compete. The piano is a *bit* too loud. The scones are competent but a *bit* too crumbly and the raisin ones lacking in flavour. Most importantly there is nothing memorable to tie the experience together, and it was notable that we were finished in under 90 minutes. Try the Renaissance at St Pancras, Sanderson or Fortnums, all exceptional teas.

(+) Amazing treats and atmosphere (-) Too high prices (even for this food and atmosphere) and they don't inform you about the offers they have. They also brought kids' afternoon tea (though we told them that he will not eat when reserving)

Decor and atmosphere very nice. Food and pastries quite good. Service was attentive, even ever-present. Hotel is really nice, five star I'm sure. Afternoon tea only gets four stars because your wallet will be shell-shocked after this.

I'm not sure high tea can get any better, though I imagine it might have slightly fancier settings. This was an experience worth both the money and the time. Highly recommended to anyone looking for an official best tea of all time.

It was amazing. I don’t think I will ever drink better tea or champagne, and the food was first-rate as well. A word of caution: bring your appetite because the amount of food is surprisingly large.

Mostly famous for afternoon tea. One of Europe's first tea room. All day dining too and exceedingly beautiful. Same floor level with Roux at the Landau & Artesian. How can one Hotel the Langham maintained all these and more at the same time is a mystery.

Attended Afternoon Tea here for a 30th birthday. It was quite the setting with a wide range of teas to choose from. If you are seeking more of an unconventional choice, try the blackcurrant tea: fresh but not overbearing and does not leave an after taste. The spacing between the tables was adequate to maintain a sense of "cosiness" whilst still maintaining sufficient space to achieve the required privacy for conversation. The melodies played by the pianist were neither disruptive nor overbearing, and he appeared to be delighted as he played out his tunes which was a nice touch. I particularly enjoyed the range of sandwiches and pastries which were very fresh and contained some lively and creative flavours. Finally, the service on offer was second to none, not forgetting to offer a mini personalised birthday cake for the birthday girl. A positively memorable experience for all.

Beautiful, sophisticated, precious and every other adjective that springs to mind when you think "traditional English afternoon tea". The Palm court at the Langham is one of the best places to indulge in this experience. The service is excellent, the food is wonderful and the interiors are beautiful and appropriately awe-inspiring. If you can spare the cash, do this.
