Best supermarket in Brighton! Offer a range of sustainable, local and always delicious food and drinks. They also offer refills for a range of products which I love. The staff are lovely and very friendly, make you feel at home. Obviously HISBE alone isn't going to save the planet, but they are making a huge difference in changing the consumer's idea of a supermarket and offering the best place to make this idea the reality.

hiSbe - 'how it should be'. Excellent shop with a wonderful ethos. Everyday products thoughtfully sourced, easily and simply displayed. All your shopping in one place. Meat, fish, fruit/veg, wine, beer and much much more. Coffee, tea and delicious cakes. Easy access.

I really like this place a lot. I go here for specific things. They have excellent chocolate and inexpensive nutritional yeast, so I stock up with both. It's great that you can weigh out as much as you like of lots of staple items. Brown bags and no waste at excellent prices. Recommended.

I'm constantly recommending HISBE to my friends and taking people there. I like the ethics (except the meat section...), the friendliness, the bulk products, the vegan selection, the cake selection.

Hisbi has a great vibe for a food shop, and has a wide range of local and environmentally friendly products. Great treat, best banana chips in town

You just nail it on all levels - even local art and the (newish) oat milk dispenser I love coming in to see what you have and wish I lived nearer

Friendly, spacious, indie ethical supermarket for those leading a green, sustainable and healthy lifestyle. Hisbe supports local growers/makers, putting people before profits. In the Brighton store you can find artisan products and local produce, from freshly baked bread and cakes to organic meat/fish. Plus an extensive range of free-from products, baking ingredients, silos for refilling your containers, general grooming products, household cleaning products and a refilling station. Every time I visit, I discover a local brand and feel inspired to try something new. Whether it's a ready-to-eat treat, or staple ingredients. If you like cooking from scratch you'll find plenty to inspire you here. From handmade limited edition seaweed tapenade, to vibrant undulating squash shaped like an Anish Kapoor sculpture. It's a relaxing and exploratory shopping experience. Always made to feel welcome. You may find some prices for the fresh organic produce higher than a mainstream supermarket, but the non perishable items seem comparable to average health store and deli prices. Everything is good quality. Accessible entrance and aisles. Bike racks and bus stops nearby. See the Hisbe website for information on their curated talks, events and bespoke consultancy packages.

One of the best independent food stores in Brighton that sells ethically sustainable food but a little small & expensive. In terms of covid safety I would say it is excellent, probably the best (mini-)supermarket in Brighton. Admittedly this is at least partly due to the fact that it has always been one of the least busy. If you like Infinity foods and also love Taj then don't overlook HISBE. And in these pandemic days don't BEcome HIStory - visit HISBE! Ho ho ho.

Great to be able to buy so many products and food by weight and with an eco approach to packaging and refilling. Unusual for many health food supermarkets in that it sells locally produced meat and fish, non factory farmed.

Love HISBE. Second favourite food shop after Infinity Foods. So much ethical variety. Shame about the meat but better ethical from there than a supermarket.

Ridiculously overpriced like all shops that offer plastic-free products. Perpetuates the idea that avoiding plastic packaging is elitist and inaccessible. When are we going to get a cheap one? We need a cheap Hisbe. This one is just not affordable.
