Reaching my mid 40s I just believed I had to accept the yearly incremental weight gain. It didn’t seem to matter if I ate less or exercised more; I could nit lose the extra 10 pounds I’d been carrying for the past 5 years. Until I met Julie! She totally educated me on WHAT I was eating and how to make choices that would help me - finally! - to lean out. It was an extremely positive and empowering experience and Julie was encouraging and understanding and had no issue repeating herself for my benefit. I highly recommend her services!

I used Julie's services from Dec 2018 to June 2019. I have always been an extremely healthy and fit person, but with a major move between provinces and career change in 2017, I let my health slide down on the priority list. Julie helped me learn how to eat well and how to eat for my my body's needs. After only a few weeks on her program, I felt like a new person. I had energy, my overall mood improved and I was looking great. With Julie, I lost about 18 lbs and went back to my normal weight. She helped me identify what foods worked for my body, which to avoid in overabundance and how much of each kinds of food to eat on a daily basis. The great thing about Julie is that you can still eat the things you love, but she teaches you how to BALANCE, which is something I had forgotten along the way. Beyond showing me recipes and links to healthier products, she helped me find snacks that suited my busy lifestyle. It's been two months (over summer and with a new job) since I stopped seeing Julie. In that time, my weight has fluctuated slightly #bbqszn, but as soon as I get back on track with my meal plan, the pounds shed in an instant. I'm now happy and healthy and I strongly recommend working with Julie. At a time when I needed it, her help was truly life changing.

I originally went to see Julie for the same reason as a lot of people, to lose weight. Or more specifically, to lose fat and gain more muscle. I didn’t really care about the number on the scale, so much as to lose a few dress sizes and to be more lean. I have always loved carbs and that has always been my biggest hindrance in dropping sizes. The older I get the less disciplined I become. My goal in researching nutritionists was to find someone I had rapport with, someone I did not feel embarrassed to discuss delicate topics, someone that I did not feel was judging me for some of my poor lifestyle choices. When I found Julie and had my consultation with her, I immediately felt very at ease. She is very calm and collected and articulate as well. She explains things thoroughly and makes sure you understand and are comfortable with the decisions being made in regards to your nutrition. The more I dealt with Julie, the more I discovered how knowledgeable she is and how excellent she is at what she does. Julie created a very balanced meal plan for me, one to which I felt very comfortable adhering. My husband has been using insulin for his diabetes for a long time and we thought it would be for life! Over the last year, we have been determined to change that. With hard work, motivation and the help of professionals and his family, he is on his way to being insulin free. We want people to know that small changes, over time, can have a great impact! When we met Julie three months ago, she validated and reinforced the choices we had made and shared in our belief that we could reach our desired goal. With her guidance and knowledge, we were able to further improve his daily habits, address weight loss and digestion, and really focus on foods and an exercise program that would fit into our lifestyle. As Julie reminded us many times, the changes a person makes has to be sustained over time, and not just be used as a quick fix. I’ve had an overwhelmingly positive experience with JM Nutrition. When I began working with Julie, I didn’t have much of anything in the way of nutritional knowledge, beyond the basics. I had made various attempts in the past to try and get my weight under control, but I never had much success and always felt I was spinning my wheels attempting to make progress by myself. As I’m sure many have experienced, the amount of dietary and weight loss information out there is completely overwhelming and almost impossible to sort through for accuracy on your own, let alone finding something that works for your particular situation. For me, this is where JM Nutrition came in! The initial consultation was very accessible for somebody new to this like myself, and eye-opening as well. The information presented to me about how to begin re-laying the foundations of my diet in a healthier manner was a great help right out of the gate. I was introduced to a combination of general principles that were simple to follow, mixed with some more detailed factoids that were important but also easy to remember and integrate into your lifestyle. I had also signed up to get a personalized meal plan, and this is what I found most helpful of all. I was the type of person who would just default to what was easiest or right in front of me, so it was important to have something detailed and concrete to refer to when making my food choices going forward. Julie made sure to get a thorough background of what a typical day looked like for me food-wise (prior to starting the program), my personal tastes, and lifestyle factors that could impact my ability to follow a good nutrition program. From start to finish she was always focused on making the experience targeted to me personally as much as possible, to ensure that I had a higher likelihood of sticking to it and finding success. The meal plan itself was successful in this regard, and included plenty of great and creative food options that followed all the guiding principles I mentioned above while still appealing to me personally. It was up to me whether I wanted to keep it basic or get inventive and follow some interesting recipes, a flexibility which I appreciated. I never felt limited or bored in terms of taste. The follow-up sessions that were included as part of my package were important for the sake of accountability. Regular check-ins helped to give me a sense of purpose and accomplishment. If I ran into a certain issue or struggled with something in particular, I was able to just file it away and bring it up with Julie at our next session. Julie herself always stayed accessible in between sessions as well, ready to answer any more urgent questions I may have had or if I just needed to check in for some support. As for tangible results – I’ve blown past my initial ambitious weight loss goal, and am still going :) So to anyone who’s considering taking the plunge and getting their nutrition in order for a positive lifestyle change, I can’t recommend JM Nutrition highly enough. They’ll work with you to find out what works for you, and do their best to help you reach your goals. It does require discipline and a willingness to make some potentially significant changes – like all things worth doing, it takes patience and diligence to see the results you want. However, if you’re in the headspace to do it and start prioritizing your health, that’s all you really need. The folks at JM Nutrition will be there with you to accomplish the rest. I couldn’t have done it without them! :)

I started seeing Julie almost 4 months ago and it has truly been a life changing experience. I did the weight loss program and have lost almost 20 lbs so far at such a healthy pace. The pace has been nice because I’ve been able to work through trial and error with Julie and implement a lifestyle change within that time. I have had the pleasure of working with Julie over the last few months. I was searching for a new lifestyle after trying all the “diets” in the world. I knew that I needed someone to teach me how to eat for my body and lifestyle. I was skeptical at first because I have never tried focusing on consistent nutrition, I was proved wrong. With Julies help and guidance I am on my way to achieving my goals faster than I ever expected. We worked with what I enjoyed (minus the cheeseburgers for dinner and bagels each morning)and found the right approach for me. I am a 46 year “young” male… Before teaming up with Julie for help, I spent more time deciding which grade of gasoline to add to my car’s fuel tank, than the quality of food to add to my stomach. Going through menopause and having those extra pounds sneak up on me not to mention other personal issues in my life, put me in a situation where losing weight was not even possible. It's been almost 12 weeks since I started working with Julie and following the meal plan she created for me. So far I've dropped almost 30lbs! I wanted to do a lifestyle change vs a diet that was too restrictive. Julie gave me the knowledge I needed as well as healthy alternatives for foods and flavours I craved. I began working with Julie in May of 2018. As many others, I struggled with my weight throughout the years. I work out and ate healthily (at least I thought so) yet nothing made the scale move. I figured it was just getting older and hormones and it was a losing battle. Through the recommendation of a friend, who had had success with Julie and spoke highly of her, I checked out Julie's website. I then connected with Julie and began my journey. Julie and I had our initial conversation over the phone. I completed the questionnaire and provided my personal goals and challenges. With this information Julie developed a personalized program for me. I put this program in place and continued on this for the last 7 months, with some minor changes here and there. Julie and I connected every 4 weeks or so and I am happy to say that I have had success! I have lost 20 pounds with minimal changes. What I have learned is what foods work with my body and to be more mindful of my food choices. Julie's recommendations are simple and doable and by no means do you starve. It is not a diet, rather it is learning about your body and what makes it function at is best. I have great appreciation for Julie and her knowledge and expertise. She has introduced me to new foods, new meal ideas and how to satisfy cravings! During our meetings I provided Julie with my food log book (which is very helpful at keeping you accountable) but I must admit, at times, I may have omitted a few things here and there. The funny thing is I have never yet met face to face with Julie, although I do hope to do this one day in the near future! If you want to lose weight, visit Julie and listen to what she says!! When my fiancé and I first saw Julie at the beginning of July I was 250 pounds and by the beginning of November I was 210! I now feel fantastic and ready to invest in a new wardrobe! Being on Julie’s plan never felt like we were on a strict diet but instead like a healthy lifestyle adjustment that we could maintain long term. Just making easy substitutions we had never thought about like cauliflower rice for rice or Almond milk for regular milk made a big difference. We loved having someone to be accountable to and someone supporting us and motivating us along the way. Even though I had cut out sweets I was still overweight. A friend suggested I see a nutritionist and I found Julie online. She got me to record my food and then analyzed it, so she could provide me with a healthy nutrition plan that coincided with my lifestyle, my health needs, and my taste preferences. When I first came to her June 2018, I was 158 lbs. This morning I weighed myself and I am 132.5 lbs. She helped me lower my carbs, increase my protein, make friends with vegetables and trade the many glasses of juice I was drinking for water and fresh whole fruit. I was rarely hungry, and the whole thing was frankly quite easy. What's more, I still have the occasional slice of pizza or salsa and corn chip snack, with no harm done. Thank you Julie! When I was referred to Julie I was Over my usual weight and absolutely exhausted all the time . She wasn't judgemental about my diet at all; she helped me set some goals and then gave me strategies to meet them. Julie knows so much about her subject. After seeing her only three times, and only following some of her suggestions, I had so much more energy. Under her guidance I've made a lot of changes and since we did it slowly it was painless. My weight is going down and I'm really happy. If you want to make permanent changes that are based on your busy life, I HIGHLY recommend Julie.

In all honesty, your advice and suggestions have been very helpful and beneficial for my nutrition. For example, pointing out in my logs about pasta. I was surprised and happy to hear your suggestion about buying more healthier pasta instead of being told to scrap it. In my past experiences, I was always getting advised on not eating any pasta. Your blog on alcohol is a landmark and it's good to know that I can still drink alcohol at a moderate level and make healthier choices. Just like many of you, I had tried a number of diets and nothing worked. I had even contemplated having drastic surgery to help me once and for all lose the weight. Somehow I knew that wasn’t the answer for me, but I was desperate and in the worst shape I had ever been physically, mentally and emotionally. By chance, my friend, having recently lost a lot of weight himself, told me to call Julie. My life literally changed after our initial consultation. Julie provided that supportive environment that helped me begin to change the relationship I had with food. She helped me evaluate my pitfalls that I wasn’t even aware of. She is knowledgeable and supportive and has guided me gradually to begin to change not only my eating habits but to create a lifestyle change that is do-able and lifelong. She collaborated with me to achieve balance by teaching me accountability. Yes, that means a food log and meal preparation! She is informative and constantly provides alternatives to food I love with healthier choices. It hasn’t been easy, but with her support, I have lost over 81 pounds in 8 months. I can’t describe how freeing it is to experience being able to do things without stopping constantly to take breaks. I have been able to garden for hours, fit into the seats at the theatre, wear high heels again, and shop with my girls to as many stores as they want, not just one or two, and then leave because I was tired and my ankles were hurting. I am happy to now shop for clothes that I like and want to wear, not just clothes that I fit into. I have even gone hiking with my husband! Something I would never have considered or even able to do months ago. My relationship has changed with my family. I am able to take part in activities they all enjoy and not have to watch by the sidelines. Feeling like I’m living life again is what gives me the strength to continue, as well as seeing Julie on a regular basis. I have become more mindful of the nutritional choices I make and eating healthy has become more of a habit.

I started seeing Julie about 4 months ago and with her support, have dropped pounds and inches effortlessly. Working together to build a meal plan that I and my entire family can follow (with thoughtful tips and texts from her sent throughout the week to alert me to products I can find easily to help me along the way), I found ways to get more protein into my regular diet and replace some of the "usual suspects" with healthier alternatives. I started seeing Julie to help get my nutrition in order so that I could train for a Tough Mudder event that occurred recently. On paper, I am in my mid 30s and had developed some bad eating habits which undermined my overall health and physical abilities. I am a picky eater and I was pessimistic about seeing a nutritionist. After meeting with Julie regularly and making tweaks and changes to my diet, I found that I was becoming more fit, energetic, and that I was able to enjoy foods that Julie recommended to incorporate into my diet. Julie is very knowledgeable and I was intrigued to learn about some of the foods that I once thought were healthy. I also enjoyed incorporating some foods into my diet that I had never considered before. Anyways... I ran the Tough Mudder and felt amazing all the way through.
