Thank you for seeing my 11 year old son today. We came to Leightons at Farnham specifically to have the colorimetry test. We travelled 55 miles to get there and it was well worth the journey. My son told me a few weeks ago that print was moving around when he was reading, both up close and on the whiteboard, and so has recently been using a coloured overlay, which was arranged locally. He had also been suffering from headaches/migraines. My son was tested today for the spectacles which will have the specific tint in them to address the visual discomfort and print moving. This colour is different from the overlay colour and will help with the board and when writing etc as the overlay is limited in how he can use it. Thank you to Helen the optometrist and Krish who sorted out the frames with us. We were very impressed and happy with everything. Anne.

A great little opticians in the heart of Farnham. The shop has two fronts, one on Downing street and another in the the Central Car Park. The staff are always courteous and make sure they are there to help when needed. I've been using their swerves for the last 15 years and they've been consistent during that entire period. Can't recommend them highly enough.

A good, family owned, chain of opticians that myself and the rest of my family have used for decades. The very personalised service is beyond excellent and now that they have the latest technology as technically good as any of the best opticians.
I have complicated opthalmic requirements so I find it much better value to be on their regular direct debit eyecare plan rather than paying for each visit. As a bonus, for me, ear care is also included which is good as my local NHS surgery no longer will cover syringing and the like (for free anyway).
Generally speaking do expect to pay more than the big chains for specs etc. I suspect some customers would get the analysis and care done at Leightons but take their prescription to Specsavers (or similar) for the actual spectacles.

I have only recently come to this opticians with my mother in law, what an amazing experience we had they truly care! We have had pretty poor experiences at other opticians but were so pleased to be looked after from the moment we walked into the shop.
They lady on the desk checked us in and advised us of the options for her test, we then had a very thorough check up by a young lady she went into great detail and took the time to explain things to us both. We then saw a young man he was finishing his training, he explained what changes he could make to her specs and showed us some styles that would be good for her to have, our budget was a bit limited but that wasn’t considered an issue. We chose new frames and lenses for her and he ensured they fit as she wouldn’t be coming in to pick them up, thank you so much to him!
I hope he’s there next time we come in and I will now be converting to Leightons for my eyes!

Wonderfully thorough eye test today with different scans other opticians don't really offer (OCT and optomap). Great staff both in the reception area as well as the optometrist, Hannah. The guys who helped me choose frames gave me great advice and explained things well. I will definitely be returning to Leightons for future eye tests and hearing checks. Thanks!

We visited Leightons for the first time for my 6 year old daughters eye test and we are very happy with the service we received. They were running a few minutes late and we were told about that as we entered which was nice. Optician was brilliant with my daughter (she goes very shy) and she managed to do a full eye test without any issues. Great Covid measures in place with hand sanatizer available and staff wearing PPE. It can't be easy for the opticians to wear plastic apron, face mask and a plastic face shield! The only thing marking the visit down slightly is being charged £20 (full price) for a colour overlay test when my daughter didn't have the ability to carry out the test properly.

Love this place! Never thought it was possible to get so enthused by visits to the opticians, but hey. I am so often disappointed by the lack of customer service in general as well as by high street retailers that I kind of walk in everywhere these days expecting to be disappointed. However, Leightons have consistently made me feel like a valued customer and they know what they are doing. I like the quality of their advice, products and service. It's a joy going in to see them. We are lucky to have them in Farnham town centre. I suggest you give them a try one day!

Good opticians. I feel the initial consultation was really good. But was then told to have a dry eye assessment. In which they just told me the sane stuff as I got told in the appointment and could easily have googled.
All in all they did a good job but seemed to try and squeeze as much money from you as they can.

Very pleased to have found a proper optician in the centre of Farnham. I have a particularly tricky prescription - pronounced astigmatism coupled with long sight - and was delighted with the very high standards from all the staff, particularly the optometrists and dispensing opticians. I am a GP contact lens wearer too, and the thoroughness and professionalism I have experienced from my contact lens practitioner, Debra Turner, has been outstanding. Well done guys, and thank you all.

We have been clients of this Farnham branch of Leightons Opticians since last summer.
They are situated very conveniently close to two main car parks in the town.
The staff are very friendly, and highly competent in their testing, admin, and follow up service. Tea, coffee and biscuits are on offer and, resulting from our visits last year, we have both benefited from the first of our two hospital surgical procedures.
They are very thorough in their advice re lenses and frames, to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
100% strongly recommended.

Great experts. Audiologists and opticians always seem very professional and highly expert in their fields, friendly and charming and helpful to the full extent required and expected. The non-experts, like the receptionists for instance are less impressive, a tad smug and look at non-gilet wearing people like they must be scum. But that shouldn't reflect badly on the people who count in the business, so still five stars.

Usually a very professional firm, I've spent thousands of £'s with Leightons and I am part of their eye health scheme (pay monthly). But I was horrified by the attitude of their contact lens person today, Jo Swinly. Having kept me waiting 20 minutes she then had a complete strop because I wasn't best pleased with being kept waiting, and when I raised with her that she was being rude she completely over-reacted. Seriously, in this economic environment can you afford to have your brand reputation destroyed by an unmanageable member of staff? Am waiting for an apology....

Excellent care. The assessment was on time, very thorough and professional. I arranged to get new lenses to be fitted into the old brown frame, as it was still sound. However the day before I went to get the new lenses fitted, the old frame got badly bent! So I went in to see if it could be fixed? I did have a previous frame (exactly the same model but blue) so took this with me to ask if this could be used if necessary? Not only did they repair the brown frame (I was amazed) but he was able to adapt and fit the new lenses into the blue frame instead (we agreed this was now the better of the two!). So I now have 'new' glasses, and very acceptable spare ones!

Arrived on time for an eye-test appointment .
Receptionist:"We're running late, - take a seat".
Me: "How late?"
"Oh, - about 20 minutes or so, - take a seat."
Twenty-six minutes later - called for test.
No explanations of procedures offered during the test.
I queried one procedure to be told: "I'm checking for cataracts"
"And have I got cataracts?"
"Yes you have, - in both eyes".
"Shouldn't I have been told that?"
"No, not really, - they're not serious enough to warrant an operation yet"
Perhaps I should be given the information and the opportunity to decide on that one? - was my obvious thought.
Anyway, I usefully spent my waiting time in the reception area selecting some really nice frames priced at £184.
Glasses Direct sent me the identical designer frames to try at home.
Then, using my prescription, they sent me two pairs of glasses in the frames with fully coated lenses for £79 the two.

Can't rate them highly enough, the staff are polite, pleasant and caring. There is never any question if you have a problem, and if one does occur they do their utmost to solve it. My husband and I regularly use this branch for optic and hearing care and recommend them to friends and family. We wouldn't go anywhere ese.

I was a very nervous patient about to embark on a contact lens trial and can honestly recommend Leightons if you are feeling the same trepidation. I was immediately put at ease by Debra Turner and there was no hard sell at the end of the experience. It was left to me to make the decision with all possible options clearly explained. I was extremely pleased with the service at Leightons Farnham. I took my daughter for a Colorimetry test and was prescribed Precision Tinted Lenses by Jo Lindley. I was amazed to see that her reading rate improved by 70% with the tinted spectacles. She is really pleased and now much more enthusiastic about reading. I'm so grateful to the team, especially Jo Lindley who showed such patience and care towards my daughter. Thank you again!

What does one want from an opticians? I suppose it can be summed up in few words: range of product, knowledge and service. Leightons has each in abundance. Our first experience of this company was at Basingstoke where the manager spent some 20 minutes with us explaining the various lens and spectacles he had to offer. It was he who suggested the Farnham branch as having the wider range of spectacles that I was looking for. From start to finish the service has been simply excellent. As the manager explained: 'I would like you to receive the same service I would hope to receive.' Yes, it's not a Specsavers but it's all the better for that. Every staff member is a pleasure to meet and to deal with. It's service first at Leightons and I wish them every success for the future. We won't looking elsewhere for our eye-care.

This is a really professional service operation. I visited Basingstoke branch to enquire about remaking a Lindbergh frame with new lenses. The staff were helpful in explaining what could be done, but the branch no longer stocked Lindberg and referred me on to Farnham branch. I visited Farnham as a no notice walk in and was positively welcomed. The entire shop staff were pleasant and professional - whoever is responsible for recruitment and training can be proud of this team. Gurpreet the dispensing optician was knowledgeable and efficient. Please convey special thanks to Rachel the optometrist - who was outstanding. The most comprehensive and well communicated eye examination I have ever had. I will be back.
