I don’t usually write reviews as I don’t like to be that person. However I attended a makeup course a few years ago and at the time I knew it was bad, but now that I have started proper training I can’t quite get over how bad it was. To start with, the lady running the course was around 45 minutes late, we were all crowded around waiting. Next we were crammed downstairs into a room that wasn’t big enough for us all. Long story short, we weren’t taught very much, she showed us a colour wheel and then decided to tell us our skin tones, gave us a foundation shade that was completely inaccurate, and we were told to go and do our makeup. We were given COMPLETELY unsanitary makeup and a lack of variety of colours and shades were available. We were left to our own devices and she came round telling us we were doing well and that’s about it. The worst part for me, was the fact that we were given a dried up, out of date, used drugstore mascara to share between us, which is so unbelievably unprofessional and unsanitary. Sharing Dirty products and brushes is one thing but sharing mascara?????? That alone could ruin your career as a makeup artist. There were many other things I could point out, but the cherry on top was the fact that it was advertised that we were going to be given a “goodie bag” to take home which would include an array of branded makeup, yet we were sent home with a paper bag with ONE Kiko lip liner in it, of which was an absurd colour. Overall, I have no idea how they’re still open. They spend half their time promoting their products, the staff were rude, it was unprofessional, extremely unsanitary and I genuinely felt scammed. Don’t ever take a course here.

Out of date makeup, the basement room where we were forced to be for 3 hours was so warm, there were no windows , no ac. ridiculous to be learning in these conditions. The teacher wasn't even qualified as she later admitted to of done basic makeup classes and self taught. Such a waste of my time!

I’ve had the most fantastic experience at the London Make-up school. It has helped me gain confidence in my make up skills. Also having the opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals has taught me so much. I will without a doubt be back to do more courses in the future.

Honestly you'd learn more from YouTube videos. The teacher was so lovely but she seemed untrained as a make up artist. She showed other work she did which was more artistic/special effects which she was clearly better at. They had really good make-up to play with which is fun but you won't really learn anything.

I went with 2 friends a couple of weeks ago. Really not worth the money. Course was 3 hours long and most of the time the lady went on about skin care which goes against everything my beauty therapist friends would recommend. This went on for over an hour. Then we were shown how to apply make up which also went on a very long time which left us less than 45 mins to do apply our own make up having to miss out on things I wanted to learn. The make up was all very low and there was no decent selections of eye make up colours leaving me to use colours I wouldn’t normally use on myself. There was only one eye liner pencil which was also very low for everyone to use! This was sold as a Mac make up course and we were using maybeline mascara which to me is not a high end brand. Extremely disappointed with this course. Had it been more than £30 I would be asking for a refund! Don’t bother!

The host was very unprofessional. She was late and flustered and there was a man (may of been the boss of the host) who was quite rude to the hold, big guy speak in Spanish on his phone whilst making the host feel uncomfortable. He seemed arrogant and rude. I then saw one of ladies washing cups in the toilet, my utter shock I couldn't believe what I was seeing. They were trying to hide whilst washing. The Makeup was messy and I could tell from the packaging this was old palettes and foundation. The running of the class was just really bad, the quality and the depth of teaching was really misleading given the hype of what you see on the website. The room is crowded and very hot, no windows . I wasn't happy with the overall experience .

Did the 3 hour MAC master course purchased through Groupon. I have very basic knowledge or interest in makeup but found the course informative. Definitely stepping up my cleansing routine and learned good tips and feel much more comfortable going to makeup counters now and having a better understanding of what all the product names are and their uses. Our instructor was friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. The bubbly was a nice touch. Marked down 1 star for the location. It was a bit far outside the city centre and the street wasn't very nice.

For the 3h Makeup "class". Seriously disappointing. What I took away, is that you do eyeshadow from light to dark going outward and you blend with a small, stiff, oval brush. That's about it. If you've genuinely never seen or touched makeup before in your life, then this might be good. If you know the bare minimum, I wouldn't suggest it at all.

The session did not provide any tones suitable for medium or dark complexions even though half the class was black. Spent time blending out the ashy products and laughing at my incredulous reflection so not much time left to practise technique. Brushes provided were balding and with one artist teaching I don't feel she had enough time to advise or correct a group of our size so learning was minimal. Unrelated generic MAC face charts circa 2003 provided beforehand (which I guess was why the class was branded as a MAC workshop and the only reason I booked) the but there were no notes pertinent to the class. Would have overlooked the 'start up' style premises if the products and services were in line with the misleading branding. I don't mind the sales pitch at the end but the freebie lipstick in 'church lady rouge' could have been swapped out for a sample of a more universal product like primer, mascara, HD powder or brow gel would actually increase the chance of later sales.

I attended the MAC 3 hour’s master class today with a friend; the class was amazing from start to finish. The teachers are very professional and they give lots of tips and tricks away to students. I am a makeup lover and a beauty editor, so coming to a good place to receive a makeup masterclass was a big task but what better place than a proper school to get the best advise and to have a fun and girlie time with my friend. The coffee was delicious and I really enjoyed the first part of the class. We had the chance to play with different brands, MAC, ILLAMASQUA, LOREAL, URBAN DECAY. We specially loved the fact, that the school has the own PRO line that focus on Primers (Gel Primer was my favourite). Great and relax atmosphere Discounted prices on their cosmetic PRO line and brushes. We got a complementary lipstick in a nude color. 100% recommended

Falsely advertised as a MAC masterclass, but they only used mac foundation and I'm not even sure if it was real. Spent 2 of the three hours talking and applying makeup to one person, with completely wrong colours and then left us alone for 30 minutes giving us the minimum amount of each products and all in the wrong colours, didn't even have time to finish the look before they tried to sell you their ridiculously overpriced makeup products. And then gave us a free lipstick, that looked like it was from primark Would definitely not recommend

I bought this deal off Groupon for £29. The venue wasn't difficult to get to. I enjoyed watching make up being applied to one of the members of the group and the trainer gave lots of tips and hints. However the rest of the time we were more or less left to our own devices doing our own makeup and the trainer lost interest in us. I also felt that the first 40 mins or so was spent in asking each one of us our own make up routines. The goody bag was a cellophane bag with a cheap lipstick in a horrendous colour! Hardly a make up master class. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

I have worked with the artists at MLA several times. The MLA artists are very good at making the class accessible for all abilities. When looking for a course to refine my make-up skills, it was important to me to consider the aftercare offered. I have had great exposure and events as a member of the MLA Pro team. Our recent Pro Masterclass at Charlotte Tilbury's Covent Garden store was brilliant!!

I bought a 3 hour make up lesson from groupon. The website says we have access to high end make up like Mac, Illamasqua and Bobbi Brown; and we can purchase make up at student prices. Although the lesson was informative, the makeup that was available to purchase was their own line of makeup which was barely demonstrated with during the lesson. I bought an HD powder for £18 but the Laura Mercier powder is £19.50 at John Lewis. Somehow I feel a bit cheated because what was advertised as such a good deal, I could have bought the real thing for £1.50 more. I received a free lipstick from their goody bag and it felt like something they just bought from the pound shop.
