The restaurant is bright and airy with fresh décor. It is described as traditional home cooked Indian food and that is the main focus of the menu, although they do have the more English style curry dishes if preferred. The quality of both the starters and main courses was excellent and clearly a lot of thought has been put into the menu. Would thoroughly recommend giving them a try. A step above the vast majority of Indian restaurants out there and nice addition to that side of town.

What a shame. The staff were so rude! As a Londoner, I am honed to rudeness but this was something else... I could not believe this was Brighton. We were told our laughter was “causing a bad atmosphere”. Avoid at all costs!

Was looking forward to trying indian food in brighton as we were from out town but food was very bland other than one dish.Starters lacked seasoning and the daal most certainly was old id know as a asian who has it all the time.The chutney tray is made up of raw onions, plain yogurt,mango sauce and mixed pataks pickle you can only have a tiny bit of as its so strong so your paying £3 for dips you will barely touch with your over priced popadom at £1 each.They also remove the tray of dips when you start your mains.For a meal that would cost £50-60 at our local very busy restaurant cost us a very surprising £86 in thd end so we were not happy.Would not go back simply because the prices for the quality of food we got just does not justify it.

My friend and I ate at this restaurant last week, the food was the best Indian meal I have had in Brighton for a very long time! Staff very friendly, I think I had the house special and a shared starter. The Nahn (sorry if I've spelt that wrong) was perfectly cooked and the house wine was lovely. I would recommend this resuarant to lovers of indian food. Cant wait to go again. Great design and warm atmosphere. Thankyou Bayleaf see you soon!

We loved the food and the service was fantastic. We were visiting Brighton and went on a Saturday night when it was quite full, but they still found us a table. We ordered the butter chicken, chicken tikka, lamb korma and lamb pathia. We were very happy with everything we ordered and will happily go back next time we’re in Brighton.

I got a takeaway from here - a few dishes were missing, and the rest were supremely disappointing. One curry consisted of about 50% coriander, disgusting! Small portions, overpriced.

Love this place! Went in for a takeaway at 10:30pm last night. Thought there would be no chance, instead they were so welcoming and invited us to stay and eat. New set menu is even better too, would definitely recommend the lamb palak

Since moving to Brighton six years ago I have struggled to find an Indian restaurant to match up to the food and ambience of my beloved Munal Tandoori in Putney. Tonight I finally found it. Bayleaf is a new addition to the Brighton food scene and it is seriously good. Amazing food and flavours. Great ambience. Staff were friendly and welcoming. My new go to Indian

We tried the Chilli pickle restaurant the previous night. Diabolical and left after half an hour with no service. Found this gem the following night. The most amazing indian restaurant i have been to. The staff are so attentive and accommodating. The food is some of the best I have experienced. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.. will definately return on our next visit to Brighton

The BEST curry in Brighton, and the best I have ever had! Sooo tasty, so many options, really good thick hearty kormas and tikka masalas just how I like it. All their dishes come with plain - medium - hot - very hot options as well. The onion bahjis are really good as well. I honestly love it and wouldn't go anywhere else for our Indian food. The staff are also really friendly and pleasant too. Highly recommend.

Went there for my birthday , there was 9 of us. At first good with drinks being served, then went downhill from there took a hour for just starters to come up, and before we even finished meal the mains were coming out!! The seabass was off, tasted like S**t, food was cold , mediocre curry. Clearly not enough staff in and chef must of been hungover or something. The restaurant did by the way cleared the bill regarding food and was apologetic and just charged for the drinks. I didnt even get to blow my candles out. Sorry no good , guess down to lack of staff and the chef!! :(
