Not the best food I have ever had. Taste was pretty mediocre for what we paid. Not recommended.

Nice restaurant, with friendly staff and delicious food. Good size portions and a extensive menu with the option to choose the style of curry with meat or vegetable filling of your choice. Reasonably priced and value for money, my only issue is that we were offered papadoms and assumed they were complimentary later seeing on the bill they were £4 plus £1.50 for the chutney tray which was also offered.

Hot, tasty, great service, lamb tender in a dish I hadn't had before. Quiet when we were in but doing a roaring takeaway trade, would definitely visit again if in area.

Really tasty, best curry we ever had. It may not appeal to people that rate a curry against a standard set by a curry sauce jar or the ones that expect quantity over quality. Everything was fresh, full of flavour and to a degree non-standard and that's exactly what we want from a restaurant, we don't want them all to serve a dish that looks and tastes exactly as in the one down the road. Bayleaf has identity and that's so important.

There seems to be mixed reviews for this place. Personally I thought the food wasn’t bad but just too expensive for what it was. Some room for improvement there I think.

Average. The title says it all. We think (not absolutely sure) that we saw a smile from one of the waiters and the food certainly looked Indian. We had been away from the UK for a while and were really looking forward to a good British Indian meal and unfortunately we left disappointed. Not a lot of taste to the food and even the nan felt limp. It just felt they weren't too happy to be working that night, perhaps they had received some bad news. Either way, we wouldn't return.

Wow the food here is amazing! Went for a meal with family and was very impressed. Good choice of refreshments and I always enjoy a decent kingfisher beer with a curry. Reasonably priced for what we received. In my opinion the venue decor could do with a rethink, it felt like it's trying to be something different for the sake of being different. I would of felt a lot more at home in a traditional Indian style restaurant with atmosphere adding to the experience. This however did not take away from possibly the best curry and side dishes that I have had in years. Great experience ????????

If you want a dining experience where you emerge from a restaurant feeling like you've aged 25 years, this is the place for you. We had high hopes - the restaurant was busy, and to be honest, we were starving. Busy, it turns out, was an understatement. A considerable amount of people were turning up to collect their takeaways, faster than meals were being served in the restaurant. The diners next to us were playing card games - clearly they were onto something. If I'd have known, I'd have packed my own deck of cards, and some sandwiches...Our mains took over 2 hours to reach our table, and then it did, the fish was thin and chewy, and the other meals pretty bland. We expressed our disappointment at the end of the meal (before the bill arrived), to only be told it had been a 'very busy night'. No apology, no amendment to the bill. The only thing gained from dining here, was an additional frown line.

Food fully recommendable. We were served by a man we thought could be the owner. He was extremely moody and almost ignored us while being at our table. Other waiter was very kind though.

Produces a vile smell that wafts all the way down St. James’ Street. Should be shut down for cooking that sort of muck. It wouldn’t sell in Salford.

Went here last night on the recommendation of the hotel owner at Blanch House. Food was perfect, staff were attentive and very hospitable, squeezed us in without a reservation on a busy Saturday night. Definitely returning!

We went to the Bayleaf Restaurant having read very positive reviews and were not disappointed, the staff and manager were very friendly and the food was delicious. We were given a window table (table no 12) and when the manager found out it was my husband's birthday we were given a complimentary bottle of wine, a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend. Thank you.

If you're looking for a traditional Indian curry house (food not the decor) in the area then this will be it. Good range of dishes with clear pricing. I like how they serve your choices and on one big plate e.g. rice and main served in ceramic bowls which comes on a larger plate. Interesting stylish decor.

Qoustanding!!!! I would have to say that this is the best Indian restaurant in the whole of Brighton and Hove not even that. its the best Indian restaurant in the UK!! they serve all Indian homemade dishes with the best flavors and the best spices and also they have the best customer service out of any other restaurants. not only do they serve brilliant Indian style homemade food but they are so popular with about 100+ customers a day which competes with other famous restaurants and also i this that the two best chefs in the UK or even the world should try this Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay should try this out for the real flavors of Indian homemade style dishes.

The best number #1 Indian restaurant in the whole of Brighton & Hove and that’s a fact! (Trip advisor)I highly recommend everyone to visit this amazing place they have the best quality Indian foods and the best costumer service anywhere. I recently had some Indian food at this place and what can I say the food was delicious and mouth watering and the prices of all the food is affordable so you don’t have to worry about paying more. Over all I give this place a 5* out of 5*.

Nice food and good service in a nice atmosphere. However, paying £6 or £7 for a side dish is over priced and you need to be prepared for the shock when the bill comes.

Good food but customer service is awful. You can’t just focus on big tables, leaving smaller tables invisible. After asking for 2 coffees, Waited a good 30 mins being ignored so we left. No apology given.

Looked nice from the outside but despite it being a quiet night we felt rushed. Our party of three ordered three different dishes but they all looked and smelt the same and mine wasn't anything like a balti, which I'd ordered; it was a bland chicken soup essentially. Small portions, way overpriced for the quality and towards the end there was a horrible stench of sewage in the restaurant.
