I had a frame that needed building up. Wayne and Roly were wonderful and professional advising me on the best way to do it and the best parts to use within my budget. They absolutely know their stuff and have an extensive selection of every vintage part you can imagine. They were patient as well, recommending the best way to go forward and to end up with a beautifully built bicycle. I couldn't be happier. I can't recommend this local bike shop highly enough, service is second to none. If you're looking for something special or unique this is the shop.

Never leave expensive vintage bikes at this place, not only they tried to overcharge me because they thought I wouldn't been to other bike stores to quote for the work. After telling them the advance what the average price should be, they deducted the price. They damaged parts of the bike that they removed, for instance I had a vintage ITM rare Italy 90's quill stem replaced and they scratched it up and lost the stem cap. For someone who collects vintage bike parts, the bike and its components need to be treated with care when removed, its not just trash. I do think if you brought a bike from here, then you're treated a lot better than if your bike is not from here. In fact its makes a big difference. I now go to Condor in Holborn, at least when they have messed up and I tell them about it, they make it right and they will discount or replace for their mistakes. Condor will quote for the work, writing down every work you need in notes, ensuring you either pay that quote if not less and if not, they call in advance/ or email before doing work. After going elsewhere for bike work, I recommend not to come here unless your bike is from here. They had tried to call me twice before to remove my review last year as reviews effecting google rating but I will not this time. Do not try to call me because this won't be removed.

Earlier in the summer I had picked up a second-hand rebuild single-speed. It had some minor issues with the brakes that multiple other local shops couldn't figure out, and there were also some modifications I wanted done on the handlebars. Roly met with me, discussed the issues and what I had in mind for customization, and communicated with me often through the entire process. Very happy with the work done! I cannot wait to go back for more exceptional service (and reasonable prices)! Best Local Bike Shop on the Islington/Hackney border, hands down.

Wow, what a great little bike shop. Loads of wonderfully restored bicycles. It's like going back in time, but in a good way. The young chap who helped me was really enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I took my bike in knowing it was in a bad way. It was completely busted, needed practically new everything and the chap told me it would probably be best to buy a new one. But I told him it had huge sentimental value and I loved her dearly. He put his hand on my shoulder, looked me in the eye and said "I understand, leave her with me" Well, a couple of weeks later I went back and she's as good as new, maybe better!! I can't tell you how impressed I was with the result. They practically rebuilt my bicycle and although it cost some wedge, it was a fraction what other stores would have charged. Check this place out. The service is top notch and they're selling great machines and accessories. There's a good coffee shop down the road too!!

The staff are very friendly and very honest about what needed to be repaired on my bike. My bike was given a thorough service and now it rides a dream! Really would recommend this place to friends for great service and trustworthy staff. Just a bit pricey, but mostly as I needed lots of parts replacing.

Wayne and the team have gone above and beyond, helping me connect with the right company for an insurance claim after a hit and run. They have helped me rebuild my bike with so much patience, source parts really motivated to make sure everything is perfect and always keeping in contact. I can not recommend them enough, so happy a walked into their shop just because it happened to be the most local to me. Very very happy customer!

This is a lovely bike shop- I've had a couple of great experiences having my bike repaired and would definitely recommend to others! The guys have always looked after me really well, and not being particularly bike savvy myself I really appreciate the time they take to run through everything and make sure I understand what’s happened. Thanks again :)

really great shop! they have the best inventory of vintage products I seen so far, really big kudos for having so many different parts and accessories available in store. Not like other stores, where if you like something, they order it in... Wayne was really helpful and knowledgeable with my bike. The result was really nice and will surely visit them if I need new parts for my bike. Prices are very reasonable and you will get a good result. two thumbs up

Pedal Pedlar built my new pride and joy. I simply chose a beautiful vintage French racing frame that they had in stock, discussed spec requirements and budget and they did the rest. Very helpful and beautiful range of stock. After sales support has been excellent also. Highly recommend a visit. James

Absolutely brilliant shop - of all the bike shops I've visited in London, I found solace here - friendly, really helpful, patient with my limited knowledge of racer (and vintage) bikes. I came out with a stunning bike that is a dream to ride. A really enjoyable experience.

Great place for vintage cycling. I first visit them at Newington Green, in the little shed behind another shop, crammed with parts etc. Now I always make sure to pay them a visit when I come to London. Great shop, with great staff. Not too price with spare-parts, be it NOS or used.

I've used these guys twice now, once to fix a broken pedal, and again last month to service my bike and fit new brake pads. Both times have been fantastic, and I've got my bike back within 24 hours. The prices are always the cheapest, and the staff are really nice. We've all been in the bike shops that are very overpriced, with rude and condescending staff. These guys are the complete opposite, and I couldn't recommend them enough! When I move out of the area I will be making the effort to come back here if I ever need anything.

I've been a customer here since April 2013 when Pedal Pedlar helped me build my first vintage road bike, most of the components were bought here too. Since then they have been great in getting obscure parts, repairs and lending me tools to get a few more builds done (many of which have been free/loaned or the cost of a beer!). They guys are helpful, friendly and knowledgable and now have a new shop on Balls Pond Road which looks great. Highly recommend visiting the shop, even if it is just to have a look at the awesome vintage bikes and parts on display.

The only place in London where I could find a suitable and affordable replacement crankset for my road bike. The staff were super friendly and helpful, letting me use the workshop to fit the replacement and helping out with removing the old crankset - a job which took us past closing hours. Really great place, I'll definitely be back!

tl;dr -- take your bike (especially old road bikes) here and you won't regret it. Seems like a great place. I had a strange issue where my old Dawes couldn't shift on to the largest rear cog. I'm no bike expert but had done enough research to know when I was being fobbed off, and other shops I spoke really had no idea how to fix it. By sending pictures to Dawes and to Wayne at Pedal Pedlar I found that a mismatch between the hub width and dropout spacing was the cause, apparently common when using modern wheels in older bikes. Other shops had point blank told me this wasn't a "thing", but Pedal Pedlar understood the issue, explained why it happened, and fixed it elegantly and quickly by slightly shortening the axle. In addition, I'd always been told that my bike couldn't accept a rear rack because of missing upper eyelets -- although I knew for a fact that these bikes had originally come with racks. Will, who was working on my bike, was able to find an old rack matching the original fitting type and installed it perfectly. I strongly recommend this shop, especially for buying/servicing old racers and tourers. Dealing with mechanics who are enthusiastic, know their stuff and are willing to really explain their methods is fantastic.

Awesome bike store!! Super helpful, went there with a slightly busted up bike hoping they could save it, the guy was super helpful and took a good 20 mins with me looking it over and seeing what needed to be done, even though he judged it to be too expensive and I ended up doing nothing with it. You can really trust these guys!

Being a keen cyclist and knowing a fair few of the bike shops in and around East London, its safe to say that the guys at Pedal Pedlar are up there are as one of the best around. I've had my lovely Gitane for a couple of years now and its been my reliable everyday workhorse on my daily commute south of the river. They have a really good selection of bike sizes too, and being slightly smaller it can be difficult to find a vintage frame that actually fits you, but mine fits the bill perfectly. Been back afterwards to get some wheels and parts which is really reasonable compared to some other places. Wish there were more places around like this, but in the meantime I'll be back and would much rather be supporting local places like this than the multiple high street bike chains there are around now. If you also feel that certain other independent bike shops can be a bit on the pretentious side about their wares, you won't get that here, just some guys really passionate about vintage bikes and wanting to spread the word

Someone stole my front wheel and with it a little bit of my heart. But the heartbreak was short-lived, for Pedal Pedlar stepped in and fitted a shiny new wheel. What a lovely bunch of gents.
