What a terrible pharmacy. They couldn’t find the repeat prescription on their system (and refused to keep trying to look for it). The medication required was urgent and the staff did nothing to even pretend they were interested.
I had to travel (while sick) to the doctors surgery 5 miles away to pick up the physical prescription valid only that awful pharmacy. The doctors surgery showed me it was the pharmacy’s fault.
When I returned, there was no level of service, no apology, no sense to rectify the issue. Just a rude, condescending member of staff who glared at me while I asked what the original problem was. It could be either stupidity or arrogance, it’s hard to tell. I’d missed 2 days of my medication at this point and they are entirely at fault.
They exist to provide essential medication, not sell sweets to kids. Highgate deserves better than this and I advise you to avoid this utter shambles.

It’s an unusual occurrence for one to review a local pharmacy, not least one is generally “in and out” for a specific purpose within a few minutes. Indeed, the only reason I have found myself on this review site is because I’ve just been online to get my local pharmacy telephone number and had noted some poor reviews. I am unable to comment on other reviewers perceptions but I’m pleased to offer those of my own family.
Bailey & Saunders is very much the hub of our small community and never once have any of my family been greeted with anything other than friendliness and, for us, the far more important issue of a very efficient prescription service. They are also the source of great advice in the absence of a doctor.
It has to be said that, as in any small community, Highgate has more than its fair share of "characters" .Whether in the pharmacy or in any of the other village shops, there is an element of arrogance amongst some of those characters, who walk in seemingly looking for anything to complain about.
Our village will be a much poorer place without this pharmacy. And on a totally different issue, if you’ve never been in there it’s like stepping back 100 years in time not only in terms old fashion friendly service but historically.

I went to pick up my daughters medication and there was an issue with the prescription. I had a discussion with the Pharmacist, Jonathan and as I went to leave, I remembered that I had forgotten something. When I went back into the shop, I overheard Jonathan bad mouthing me and my family to the Asian assistant who unfortunately was in total agreement with him. I think this kind of behaviour is outrageous for a profession that has a duty of care to the customer and who should be abiding by the Data Protection Act. Luckily for me, I was the only one in the shop and nobody heard my details being broadcasted quite openly. I was so humiliated that I left the shop and will never be returning there again. I suggest if you want to keep your personal details private, do not visit this store.

This will be the last time that I visit this chemist. Although it is convenient for me to go there, I would rather go to hell than enter the doors of this premises. The sales assistant didn't look up from her mobile phone and left me standing there for 10 minutes and I had to ask for assistance. She gave me a rude glare as if I was inconveniencing her and did not advise me on the item that I wanted to buy, just pointed to the shelf where the painkillers were. After making my selection, she threw the item on the counter and when I was leaving, she did not say 'thank you' or 'goodbye'. I had to return there later in the evening only to find that the shop had shut an hour early! All the other pharmacists in the vicinity close at 6pm and their website states the same. It is necessary, in this current time, to stay open until the time stated on the website. I shall be advising other customers to use another pharmacy ie: Archway or Muswell Hill for better customer service and correct opening/closing times

I agree that this is a very valuable pharmacy for Highgate. The head pharmacist is diligent, efficient, helpful and has a good memory for every customer's prescriptions. Their stock is also amazing - sulphate-free hair products, great bath and cosmetic products. Not to mention in a Dickensian setting. A pleasure every time I go in. Thank you.

Visited the store in a lot of pain in need of basic painkiller. Their sale attendant was very discourteous and short with me. Their cheapest offering was 500% more expensive than market value. Pricing generic drugs like this is unethical and not very community-oriented.

This is a lovely little chemist. The staff were really friendly and helpful. They help me choose the product that I needed for my skin. The staff, especially the Asian girl, was quite knowldegeable which was very handy. I would definitely come back and recommend to my friends. Thank you for the great service.

Not the worst service but definitely not the best - They have lost my prescription in the past but I didn’t feel like writing a review as we’re all humans we make mistakes... Witnessing the owner close the shop 15 mins early today just as I was about to collect my prescription was the last straw, however. If you don’t close at 6pm please change your hours on google. FRUSTRATING

Rude and unfriendly staff. Never going back.
I don't live in the area anymore but decided to go to this chemist as I had been happy with their service in the past. I walked in and the lady behind the counter just starred at me while sitting on a bench behind the till. When I walked up to the counter she just starred at me still saying nothing. I said hello and explained my situation with a little eye roll she asked the lady next to her a question grabbed a cream and said here you go. There was no explanation on how often I should use it and for how long. Once I'd paid for it she gave me my change said "there you go, have a nice day" with a smirk and hopped back onto the bench behind the till.
This is the first time I've written a bad review because I haven't received such unfriendly rude service like that before. You work in a chemist, it's your job to help people! Not make them feel unwanted, if you don't like people change jobs.

I have just moved to the area and was happy to find such a lovely little chemist on the high street. The staff were very helpful and provided me with some advice for my 3 year old who had a terrible cold, they stock some beautiful soaps and organic creams I would highly recommend a visit!

Would be 0 stars if possible. The manager was incredibly rude and unprofessional when I was trying to buy dressings. She was sarcastic and patronising even rolling her eyes at me at one point. I would avoid at all costs and I will be writing to the owner. I am not the first person to complain, I have no idea why the owner would entrust their business to such someone with zero courtesy and pride in their work.

I don't live locally but drive through Highgate occasionally. I stopped recently to fill a script and stock up on some essentials and I found the staff very helpful and courteous. The pharmacist gave me some very good advice in relation to my drugs and condition and I will stop more often.
I like to support local businesses and I'll make a point of supporting this one more when I can. I have read some of the reviews and find them out of kilter with my own experience. I hope some of those who expressed disappointment will in time go back to supporting them.

Two ladies that work here are exceptionally rude. Every time I go in they are out of stock, and make you come back one or possibly even two days later. They also don’t take American Express.

A lovely old chemist with a good level of stock. Badly let down by the rude and unhelpful lady behind the till. I walked in to the empty shop were I was ignored. No smile, nothing. I then went and stood by the till where she was chatting to her friend. I waited for about three minutes whilst she incessantly chatted with another lady behind the counter. She knew I was there but couldn't be bothered to look up and pause her gossipy chit chat.
After walking away I looked back and mentioned that I been waiting a long time whilst being ignored. She was almost amused and simply didn't care. I suggested that it might be an idea to pay a little more attention to customers and be more polite.
She growled back with a bitter face "can I help?" No apology, smile or remorse.
I said that I would take my business elsewhere. She cackled at me and carried on with her chat. I have lived in the village for years. It is a friendly place where people tend to help, support and smile at each other. A community that her attitude simply does not belong in.
Sadly I will not be going into that chemist again. I went to the one in Swains lane and spent £200.00 in there instead. Where I was greeting with a smile. A real shame as I used to pop in regularily.
Manners cost nothing but will be costing that business money if she carries on with her apauling approach to customer service!

Useless. They chose a cheap brand of painkiller which doesn't work well at all. They were obstructive and rude when I tried to change them for my regular brand, even once I got a new prescription.
They have a great stock of lipsticks, perfumes etc but I won't rely on them for anything important again.

This pharmacy has let us down over the past week. My wife, who is epileptic, had a prescription sent down from the Midlands and we gave the pharmacy two days to order it. On our arrival to the pharmacy we were told that they had received the prescription but had not ordered it yet. They told us to come back on Monday (two days later) and promised us the meds would be ready for collection.
Upon ringing them today to check if the meds were ready we were told that the order had arrived and then been sent back to the Medical Practise in the Midlands" because they did not recognise it and the employee we dealt with earlier in the week did not leave a note on the box informing the current staff of the order. This is unacceptable and the stress this has caused along with the lack of medication has left my wife in a very vulnerable state.
I am aware that certain individuals do work very hard in this pharmacy but i'm afraid this debacle has left us both angry and frustrated.
