towed my car for no reason, had my parking permit still valid till next year, lost my jobs because i couldnt make it, paid 350 to collect my car, now in dept during pandemic, no reason given, no refund issued. no respond, no call backs, worst day of my life.

Called there emergency dept due to waste not being collected on Leytonstone Road for the past week. Piles of rubbish building up on the street, a trip hazard, stinks, rats running wild and a homeless person using it as a toilet (all on a main road and pavement) the only thing the guy could recommend was to call back monday. Surely if you are going to organise road works and improvements you liaise with waste disposal so that it can be done. A health hazard and a terrible service. Poor poor poor. They never deserve any rating at all. I would rather give them minus that is lower than zero if I could.
Not only that the Newham Counsil is worse, but also the entire London city became worse.
I received a voting letter last week and I am confused whom should I vote, and if I did vote anybody, what do we get as a return...? Government has given priorities to all Councils accross the UK and London Newham Council is taking well advantage of those priorities. They recruit mostly Asian people for their jobs and these people are misbehaving with customers and clients. If God would have given me such supernatural power, I swear I would have mute and disable them forever which they actually deserve. We regret that we cannot take much action agaist them but only leaving some reviews and sharing our pains in here. I wish if God punishes them hard to teach them a good lesson.
However, now I am sharing my bad experience with Newham Council. We are currently living in a cousil home in Newham. I and my family are experiencing many problems. I lost my dad in this Covid pandemic, for which we are mentally depressed, and the council is torturing us mentally is an additional. When my dad was alive, we used to get housing benefits and some other benefits. My mom used to receive carer allowance as she was registered as a carer of my dad. Since my dad passed away, all the benefits were stopped. My mom talked to one of the staff in housing benefit department in last month who said that we will be charged only £25 a month for housing rent instead of £169 per week. But they are still charging us £169 per week. I became unemployed during the pandemic because it was a temporary contact. My sister lost her job because the company she used to work for was shut down permanently. We applied for universal credit but only receiving around £350 a month (roughly). If they keep charge us £169 per week for house rent, how the hell we will survive? We will then have nothing left to spend on foods. We are trying to contact them, but they now disconnect the call after keeping us waiting for more than an hour long on the phone. Are they actually trying to kill me and my family without foods? Do they want us to die in hunger? What have we done wrong? Don't we have the right to live peacefully?

The Newham Council website.. Is actually the worst maintained website I ever seen, they taken my payment for bulky waste but shows need to still pay on the website account, so I checked my transaction to see if my bank transfer did go through, my payment did in fact go through but it still says make payment, its the website error then how do you explain the money going out my account? now I still have the waste outside my house for 2 weeks can you believe it!, dissapointed, something needs to be done about newham council, borough councils have a duty to make their website easy and professional so the member of public have faith in the service.

Dreadful customer service. I must admit, I have had a pleasant experience in the past with customer advisors, however today’s experience was very poor.
The lady was speaking like she was fed up of her job. She did not say please or thank you with any of her sentences. She sighed loudly when I asked her to hold on while I got some details. Incredibly rude.
She should be grateful she has a job in these difficult times.
I suggest managers roll out some general training to keep the customer service levels up. If not, weed out the bad staff and get rid of them.

Worst council ever.
They make millions from parking fines, however they cannot be bothered to fix pot holes anywhere. Go and see woodgrange road that is the perfect example of this. There are so many pot holes that you have to drive in the other lane almost.
Today I have called parking enforcement, no one answers. They have the worst staff and the most incompetent as well.

My contravention was in February 2020 (i didn't know) and they never sent me a single letter until I got this threatening "pay £200 now or we'll send bailiffs in 7 days" letter in November 2020. I will pay the incorrect penalty charge but Newham council are mobsters

If there was 0 stars I would of gave them 0. Anyone who is with newham council will know how rubbish they are. Been in temporary accomodation with them and this is the second property that they did not inspect. Had rats for a long time and when I moved in I found out it had fleas too. Was in care before hand with a registered newham Foster carer and now getting treated like sh*t. Furniture is ruined and some things have stopped working due to the rats. Anyone with any great mind and a brain can see when walking into this property when inspecting to check the floor boards because half of it is mashed up and been repaired with wood filler. Very bad housing department overall.

By far the worst council I've dealt with. I got 2 fines going down one road. I paid for one and appealed for another. Got no response back about it, however, after few weeks I got a letter stating I owe them £190+. I called the council and explain and the man said you have to wait for the next letter to come for us to do something about it. The next letter came and it went up to £203 and now they are going to send bailiffs down. I called the council and they said it is in the hands of the bailiffs now. I called the bailiffs and they said they are given the case and the council are the ones who can take care of this. Just going in circles! No one wants to be responsible. Newham council are by far the worst and filled with greed!

Received a PCN on 21/12 but letter is dated 09/11.. I called them to pay the money which is £130.. because of it has been more than 28 days since they sent me the PCN they put the penalty up to £390 which is a ridiculous amount for crossing a road. I tried explaining to them its not my fault that i did not receive the letter on time.. but they dont want to hear it.. just want the money.. rude.. unhelpful.. i am glad i dont live in newham.. somebody tell the newham council they there to help the residents not to rip off..

-1 easily. Having lived in Newham for 13 years, I can tell what it is like. Council are deeply complacent w many of its officers constantly looking for excuses over the unacceptable standard of services. The Mayor 's own review has established high levels of complacency where officers don't want to take responsibility for mistakes +don't really get reprimanded either. Standard excuse is :"there are only x officers in this department so it s normal to make mistakes/except delays" and so on.
Now it s Xmas ,hard to have any festive feel , though. Rubbish collections were missed at some places, typically blocks with more waste than single small bins. Our collection was meant to be done on the 24th,of course it was not and next one s not due until the 4th January. This is not weekly collection at all& council still spend a lot of money promoting themselves & the Mayor while large parts of the borough are little more than dumps, literally. It s v unsanitary to have mountains of uncollected household waste spilling all over the place, for example and we have high rates of Covid as well.

I recently left my Job at newham. But during covid the seniors told all the staff at enforcement to go in hard on parking tickets. They are going broke. Corruption is so bad there where they give contractors jobs that dont need doing. Someone needs to investigate this place asap.. they are conning the public

I was charged with a parking ticket which I challenged and the ticket was waived off. After 3months I received a letter in post saying that because I didn’t pay the fine so the fine has increased to £195 from £65.
I tried to check the complete history of the ticket but the website does not maintain the ticket history.

Just found out they sneakily removed the right to a free bulky waste collection every year, they only collect the recycling every two weeks so we always end up throwing stuff away that could have been recycled.
Just really badly run.

I have lived in Newham for 32 years and the council has always been bad. I was made homeless at 17 by my landlord went to the council who told me I was too young to be homeless and as I was working would not help me. I had to sofa surf at people that would put me up until i could save up enough to rent somewhere else.
That was the start of my dealings with Newham and it only got worse after that. I am still suffering to this day as now in their shared ownership scheme and still awaiting information on the flat I bought 17th january. It's now April . I think the only time i have had good dealings with this council is with a lovely lady that deals with my council tax and I only contact them when I want a refund if I have overpaid.

Just called Newham councill help line. After waiting for half an hour for a connection, I asked the person who picked up for advice regarding door regulations to which she responded to call her back when I know who to speak to and hang up. What a waste of space that person is.

They need serious training on manners and how to behave as a human being. I don't know how such people can even be employed. If they were working elsewhere I doubt they would behave like that. So why do they think it's ok to behave so disrespectful in the council?? Council really needs a new set of standards in regards to show they employ and take on as staff and also staff should be better trained

Very quick to take your money, charging you legally and illegally. They genuinely believe they are above the laws of the land. Bullying, and preying on vulnerable citizens. When it comes to offering a service they fail to provide the most basic support. All operators have a terrible attitude reinforced with matching tone, trying to shirk responsibility whenever possible. No ownership, or responsibility from any of their staff and it's frankly disheartening.
Terrible Council, gets worse every year. Trying to get into contact with this is a mission by itself. That speaker phone selection ends by essentially telling you to "do it yourself". They get so many bad reviews, and they wear it like a badge of honour. Worst council by far...

I have been renting a property with Newham Council for over 13 years & I am absolutely disgusted with them. I had a dangerously broken bathroom sink which I reported. Had to book 3 days off work in total before someone EVENTUALLY came out to repair it. Recently booked more repairs & arranged yet again for another day off work. Once again, a call to the office mid afternoon to see if anyone was coming to do the jobs to be told the manager had 'cancelled' them all ! No text, call or letter to inform me YET AGAIN so another wasted day off work. Absolutely fuming !!! They are utterly useless & if I could give a minus 5 star I would. Worst council I've EVER had the misfortune to deal with in my life !!!

Worst council ever and I've lived in a lot of places. Litter all over the place near where I live which is never cleared in months, haven't removed fly-tipping many weeks after I reported it, towed away my van and charged £480 and refused to answer my query about the parking restriction sign being changed whilst I was parked there, sent me the wrong parking permit so I got a ticket, parking wardens putting on tickets at 2.39 in the morning, you can never get through on the phone... I could go on.

Absolute shambles, staff are unprofessional the majority of the time. Calling any department between 12pm - 2pm is practically impossible and when you do get through it seems that the staff just can't be bothered. All the staff require customer service training and how to conduct themselves in what should be a professional workplace. On occasions you are sometimes suprised when you actually do speak to someone who shows professionalism, initiative and empathy.

Usually I love some boroughs that are in London but this one has gotta be a mess. Filthy looking place, run down things and more.
On Plashet Road there is a blue barrier fence that has been standing for about 3 or 4 years now. They were gonna make a new homes, a nursery and a community centre but they didn't. "Further information will be available in late 2016" but it's way past 2016 and they still didn't make these things. I would be appreciated if your busy customer service can let the building agents make a new place here.

If I could give zero ???? I would have. We moved to this council for just 5 month. Worst council experience, their customer service are rude and arrogant. Their greeting when you call is "Hello what do you want" who speaks like that to people that pays. Theirs lots of criminals working in that council. You would pay council tax over the phone and they would come back to you and claim you didn't pay.
Corrupt Borough. Think twice before working or moving into this Borough. Horrible experience.

-1 star to Newham Council. We live in one of the regeneration zones which is a dumping ground, essentially. Run-down buildings and run-down, antisocial area that the police &council can't deal with. Attended a public meeting yesterday as many of these flats are leased by Mears, a big outsourcing firm that is supposedly managing this portfolio of council flats that nobody on their right mind would want to live in. The rent is £1188/month for 2 beds in disgusting buildings on a sink estate that has been awaiting demolition for nearly 10 years now. There is an air of hopelessness and decay here. The council has nowhere to move even it's own tenants and the area is becoming more r& more down as the years pass by. As for the "regeneration", it is not for the majority of locals. The land of the estate is worth more than the people who occupy this estate, that is the truth. We feel cheated on and sold out. The services are poor and Mears is a joke of a company. The council itself has been looking into stripping the contract from them ,in fact. We feel that nothing will happen unless the people themselves come together and start a major strike against the empty promises and lies of the council &Mears. A non-profit community land trust is what the people need, not for-profit developers and leeches like Meats. We demand decent ,safe, truly affordable housing and full accountability from the council as well!
