Very hands-on, very interactive, will force you to pause and think about how you live your life and teach you how to switch off the automated pilot. A mix of philosopher quotes, discussions, exercises to practice, group discussions in breakout rooms, and all in an atmosphere that is very welcoming, very warm, very friendly. I just did the first course and there's no way I want to miss these weekly oasis of peace and wisdom, so I am signing up for the next! It's so worth the time and money (where else will you find 10 weeks of lectures for £60!!) but much more than that: it will help you reconnect with your own inner wisdom and inner peace - and that is priceless. I cannot recommend this school and these classes highly enough.

Have thoroughly enjoyed the introductory course and the daily awareness exercise practice. The school has been established for over eighty years and the wisdom and integrity is evident in the tutors. The course is delivered online but is handled very professionally with a good mix of lecture, conversation and small group discussion. It's a delight to share ideas with others interested in exploring a way to peace in these extraordinary times.

I have been absolutely loving the introductory course and have just signed up for the advanced sessions. What a wonderful bunch of intelligent, lovely, interesting, inspiring people, and the themes have been so great. I can wholeheartedly recommend this School. If you're after exploration and deep-dive, as well as meaningful connection, rather than learning stuff by heart, this is for you.

In autumn 1957 I signed up for a 12 week Philosophy Course in Central London. As a new mother who had taken Philosophy and Logic in evening classes at London University, I needed to discover everything and a life that was more than my beautiful daughter and motherhood in the 1950s. That was more than 63 years ago and I still attend Philosophy groups at The School of Philosophy and Economics and I am still learning about the meaning of life. Try it for yourself!

I have attended two terms of practical philosophy and am confident in signing up for term 3. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who has philosophical inclinations but might get stuck in the theory and not enough in the practice. A truly supportive and engaging environment. I most highly recommend Adrian Green as an exceptional facilitator.

Having found ourselves in strange times, a friend suggested The first course as it was free. I thoroughly enjoyed it and then have gone on to purchase ( a very reasonable cost) two more courses. Our course facilitator Elina is incredibly articulate and calm with a gentle but encouraging approach. She has a clear and directive style to teach and uses the zoom sessions so well you would think you were in the classroom. Its a very welcome virtual space. I do get a little overwhelmed but then thousands of years of teaching can do that !

A brilliant, mind-opening school devoted to helping us see the world in a way that we were not taught at school, but which is the world we live in. I cant recommend its courses enough.

I have attended the school continuously for twelve years so it’s safe to say it has become part of the bedrock of my life. Central to the teaching is the study of Advaita philosophy and from this stems a mindful approach to all areas. For me it has helped make sense of religion in the context of contemporary experience. All the teaching and much of the running of the school is freely given by senior students. It’s a remarkable organisation!

I attended the 10 weeks Practical Philosophy course via zoom (from France) with Laura and David as tutors. The course fulfilled my needs beyond my expectations and I am very happy to have been part of this experience. This was more than an online course; it was a meeting point in time, in space, between people that are in search for Truth and Wisdom. The tutors had excellent communication skills, we were given practical tools to experience and develop in everyday life, we learned from each other, I experienced the living in the present moment and loved the practical side of this course – it helped me live the words of the great philosophers of ancient times… To be continued ... Thank you!

I recently completed the 10-week Introduction to Practical Philosophy course via Zoom. It was refreshing to try something new and to collaborate with like-minded students from all over the country and beyond. Will Pate was a great tutor, leading us through some fascinating texts and topics including wisdom, awareness and justice. I'd highly recommend this course to anyone interested in unravelling life's big questions and learning practical ways to feel more present in everyday life.

What a great way to step back stage from the current situation and think positive and refreshing thoughts. Lovely to meet new like minded folk too ! I found this to be a very useful compliment to my reading of the yoga texts. I would recommend to anyone with an interest in life, people and the way we live in shifting times. Enjoy!????????‍♂️

The online groups provide me with respite from a busy work and family life. When things get hectic the Advaita Philosophy espoused at the school provides an inner calm. I am very grateful for all the things I have learnt at the school and all the lovely people I have met. I would recommend the courses to anyone, no matter your background.

I have just spent a most enjoyable and enlightening weekend at the residential retreat centre at Waterperry. What a great venue! Beautiful gardens, wonderful accommodation. Just fine. Well done everyone who was involved. I will certainly be going again. I attend a weekly group meeting just 15 minutes drive away. Such solid, open people and so inspiring.

I did the Practical Philosophy course which was available for free which I am extremely grateful for. The content of the course and manner in which it was given via zoom was outstanding I can imagine courses in person would be so as well. Highly recommend. Practical Philosophy as a subject may be new to me some of the practical exercises i.e. awareness exercise were not however the way the course approached them I preferred to the way I have come in touch with them previously. The course provided a platform to meet other people also willing to explore very important aspects of life on Earth as a human being.

Amazing school, highly recommend! If you are on the fence about taking your first course for whatever reason, give it a go and you will not regret it. I've just completed the first introductory courses in Philosophy and also Economics & Justice and it has been a really worthwhile experience. It has enabled me the opportunity to connect with a diverse group of amazing people. The knowledge and wisdom that can be obtained from participating is very practical in day to day life. The courses I have taken part in have been over Zoom due to Covid, which has caused no hinderance. I've not experienced any technical issues and you can still connect with others easily. Online classes have benefitted me in terms of offering flexiblity with time/location. I am continuing classes next term, and plan to be involved with the school for the forseeable future after the experience I have had.

I took part in the 10 week Introduction to Practical Philosophy and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The content was practical and engaging, the discussion and collaboration with other course participants was enjoyable and insightful and the genuineness, enthusiasm and passion that the tutors have for the subject and students is great.

This course was brilliant. It introduced my to certain concepts I had not heard of before. It also helped me through a difficult period in my life. Was not expecting to find the course as useful as it has been. The concept of justice is particularly interesting.

I have just completed my first 10 week term with the School on their Introductory Practical Philosophy course, led by my tutor Elka over Zoom. Elka was welcoming and friendly every week, created stimulating questions for discussion and was understanding of a variety of perspectives. The group discussions were thought-provoking and the practices following on from the sessions have made real difference in my everyday life. I have never 'done' philosophy before and would recommend this course to anyone at any level. It has inspired me to focus more on the present, and find a greater sense of fulfilment in everyday.

I have just completed the Introduction to Practical Philosophy and could not recommend this course more highly! I looked forward to, and enjoyed every single class, and learned some extremely useful practices in the process. Our tutor, Christine, was also such a wonderfully kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable and inspiring lady. Thank you so much, and I'm looking forward to the next course in September!

Heart melting warm situation. His Holiness Shantanand Saraswati authority of Advaita philosophy, inspirer to SES, never copyrighted words of wisdom, and never asked to have his sayings copyrighted; he gave them and advice freely for the benefit of all. These were given as talks between HH to Mr Leon Maclaren which were beautifully translated with love and correct meaning of the Spirit of Advaita by Mr. SM Jaiswal a totally dedicated student to School of Economic Science and it's work. As the School of Philosophy and Economic Science abides with and in the conscience of their teacher; it comes as a question as to why they are copywriting the teaching since their teacher Holiness Shantanand Saraswati never copyrighted his teaching? When there is no copyright then it allows sharing to be free?

I've just finished Part 2 of the Economics with Justice Course through the School of Philosophy and Economic Science. I have learnt so much about the failures of our current economic system and what could and should replace it. Especially post Covid 19 where were looking for a sustainable and just recovery. I recommend the course!

Economics with Justice course gave me an introduction into economic theory and the ways in which that structure can both systematically help and hinder our human development. Graham is also frankly the sweetest wee man and a wonderful lecturer.

I have been a member of the School of Philosophy and Economic Science for in excess of forty years. The teaching we have so generously been given, continues to inspire and enrich my life. The nourishment arising from our weekly meetings and the practices we have been given enable us to find resonance and meaning in the world we meet. To share the company and spiritual journey with people of like mind, is indeed a true gift.

I have been a member of the School for many years and I feel part of a very large family with connections throughout the UK and many other parts of the world. Our discourses in group meetings are based on principle and reason and fellow students actually listen to and learn from each other rather than simply impose personal views. The study of the philosophy is concerned with discovering that which unites us all and helps us to find a great depth of wisdom, happiness and love within ourselves which affects how we live our daily lives. All who join the School have the opportunity of improving the quality of their lives and working for the benefit of society at large. I thoroughly recommend it.

Have just completed the ‘Happiness ‘Course .Very well run by Christine and lovely meeting such lovely participants. These courses help to introduce you to various philosophers of the past and help us to apply the principles to our lives. Reflecting weekly on issues definitely helps me to live a happier life.

An outstanding organisation, sincere and credible which genuinely seeks to find and acknowledge the unity in humanity. It is run on fine principle, proceeds through discourse rather than dogma and has recourse to an impeccable authority. The essence of the study is in the philosophical realm and this inspires the other aspects of the school. In particular Economics, Sanskrit, Education, Art and Music. The classes are conducted with humility, generosity and openness. The school’s leader is a man of integrity and decency. It is a friendly place where every student is treated with respect.

Years ago, when I stepped into the School, I had the feeling of coming home to my true Self. Over time, this feeling of being at home and being at peace has deepened greatly through all the beautiful practices on offer here such has Meditation, Reflection, Conversation groups, Calligraphy, Music, Economics, Sanskrit and many more. Nowhere can you find a more uplifting and deeper rest than the retreats on offer in the School - a real balm for the Soul! If you are interested in a journey of Self discovery in Good Company, this course is not to be missed ! Lynette

After many years studying philosophy in the School, I continue to find the courses stimulating, the experience enriching, the company delightful and supportive. I studied philosophy at university. It was interesting and challenging intellectually but made no difference to the way I live my life. These courses however give you tools for living, for handling the difficult situations that life presents. Highly recommended.

This organisation has worked tirelessly to promote and educate high principles and values. Its courses draw from impeccable sources and there is a good level of Q&A. If you are keen to develop emotionally/spiritually the courses will provide you with the necessary skills to achieve that. The sense of community is palpable, friendly and supportive.

I have attended the School of Economic Science for many years, studying philosophy, economics and Sanskrit. I have found many of the people inspirational and i would call some of them my closest friends. The key element of the School's approach is that it is practical, inviting us to put the principles into practice in our daily lives. Through the practices of meditation, reflection and study there can be a depth of experience in what one can only call one's real self, by comparison with the superficial self, governed by ever-changing desires, ideas, fears, etc. There is no doubt that being in the School has helped me be a better person with my family, at work and in society generally. I am immensely grateful to the people in the School who have gone before and made the School what it is today and i am proud to be a student.
