Avoid like the plague! I was warned by my usual, trusted mechanic who normally looks after my Primavera ET3 - that Retrospective, and Niall McCart specifically cannot be trusted. I should have listened!
After telling me in September I could keep my bike in their shop "as long as I liked", they then said in February that I owe them £2000 in storage fees.
They now say they have taken my bike to "an offsite storage location" that they won't say where it is - and are refusing to give back the bike. I've asked them nicely to show me where they explained their storage fees to me back in September, but they refuse to do so - being belligerent and rude on the phone.
They know they are in the wrong. They know that I know my consumer rights. Presumably they assume I will let this go and they will get to keep my beautiful ET3 - which is what I'm sure has been their plan all along.
Very, very bad service in my experience. Would give zero starts if I could. They are definitely not to be trusted!

I can highly recommend Retrospective Scooters.
I had a motor issue on my Niu Electric Moped. They fought long and hard to get a replacement sourced and approved under warranty, keeping me updated regularly.
They also gave good advice on new tyres and a leg cover.

Where do i begin! I never been so upset and dissatisfied in my life with the quality of a scooter and customer service i received in my whole life! I paid close to 3 grand for a new royal alloy GT 125! Was told on sale and i quote, "i would receive 4 services within the 1st year in order for them all being a new venture for retrospective to keep an eye on the scooters" 1st being at 600 miles! The 1st day i drove the scooter away i was so excited it was like a dream come true just to find out that, i was blind on my right side as the wing mirror was miles out of position, to then find i was bang in trouble when i pulled out on to the north circular as my scooter would only run at speeds it wanted to and fluctuated in speed regardless of the throttles position!
To then get home keep it over night to go to work the next day, to find my brand new battery was completely flat as a pancake to leave myself stranded! The mechanic that came out to me to replace it sorted that minor issue out, however after my 600 mile service that was free but wasn't free, a warranty issue was discovered that the throttle cable was loose and for the sake of that and checking the tightness of a few nuts and bolts also warranty they proceeded to charge me 140 quid for a oil change because the oil they put in originally wasn't sufficient enough! I refused to pay!
Since then a breakdown between myself and retrospective despite contacting royal alloy have ignored me! And left me with a 3000 pound piece of junk that nuts and bolts have fallen off leaving the exhaust guard to fall off on the North circular, my decor to snap and fall to bits my number plate which they fitted to snap in half and land on the floor which was held on my one plastic screw, my engine to cut out regularly more or less at every traffic light, my speedometer to freeze and hold water damage to the point of it being unreadable! My ignition switch to break in half and to top it my front forks to wobble! DON'T BUY! DON'T DEAL! WITH RETROSPECTIVE SCOOTERS NOR ROYAL ALLOY IN MY OPINION! I think a call to trading standards is due! ????????????

Brilliant. I had a great experience with Retrospective when I needed a repair and service on my Vespa V100. It was picked up, fixed and serviced in a very short time. It now rides like new and the bill was very reasonable. Friendly people who know what they are doing and are a pleasure to deal with. Would recommend to anyone with a classic scooter.

I have problems with my scooter , a really bad oil leak, and problems with the carb set up. I met Emilio at retrospective who was so informative and he was genuinely interested in the problems I was experiencing , his knowledge and free advice was really appreciated.hopefully I am now on the way to getting my bike running correctly..really good guy..thanks...great shop...well worth a visit.....

Fantastic garage, if you own any geared scooter this is the place to send it. The owner is a lovely guy who goes above and beyond for his customers and his staff are experienced mechanics who really know their stuff. Their prices are always reasonable, I have never felt ripped off. Recently they actually fixed something for free because 'it didn't take long'. I can't recommend them enough and I wouldn't trust my bike to anyone else.

Took my Lambretta Li series 3 to Retrospective for a service and to clear up starting problems. I used to visit scooterworks but since they closed down was looking for someone else to look after my bike. The guys did a fantastic job, Lambretta is running better than it ever has, starts 1st or 2nd kick now even in the cold weather. Highly recommended and will be using them again.

Niall supplied a restored Vespa Sprint Veloce a long time a go. It was made to my spec, and it was done to perfection. I have had various other of my scooters serviced there since and the quality of work is always bang on. He is honest and up front about things, and you know where you stand. A good service for classic scooters, which is getting rarer in London.

Charged well over three quoted price of restoration, stole parts given to them and switched them for cheaper parts. Used cheap Indian parts parts instead of genuine parts and all together bad advise. Avoid at all cost.

I have bought a vespa from retrospective, and am very pleased with it, although when phoning for any help or info, the owner can be a bit miserable, and short on the phone. If you need any spares for your vespa project, then you may be advised to look elsewhere, as they seem to not want to help.
