I went there today to post a parcel. They keep you waiting for a very long time before providing assistance. Staff were shifting and moving boxes around totally disregarding the fact that the que was getting longer and longer. The woman who finally decided to serve me (middle aged, gray hair with darker ends; staff don't wear name badges hence the description) could do with a basic customer service course. She 'invited' me to her work station by waving me in ; kept mumbling something to herself disgruntedly. Very disappointed with the place! I am not surprised that they have so many bad reviews!

Do you enjoy waiting aimlessly? Standing around doing nothing? Do you have an utter contempt for life itself? Then you'll love this Post Office.

I'd rather take the longer walk to WHSmith; customer service didn't seem to care at all

Terrible queue system and confusing layout and signage. Girl who had attracted attention of staff when using the self check machines was then waived through to the front of the queue of people waiting for the counter. Guy on counter then put up Position Closed sign after serving the girl who jumped the queue. Poor. Staff behind counter don’t wear masks either even though they are standing less than two metres apart

It takes forever as only a few people are working here. Gotta bring a lot of time unless you can use the self service..

The self service assistant asked if anyone needed help. To avoid a long queue I said yes. I had a small parcel to be sent to Turkey. Not knowing the requirements for overseas post, I relied on the assistant to know what was required. About two weeks later the parcel was returned to me. I am not sure of the reason, but possibly because the customs declaration had been stuck on the back of the parcel. The parcel was well packed and clearly addressed. As there was a member of the family returning to Turkey the next day they kindly put it in their luggage and saw that it got to the recipient. I had paid almost £10 for the post office service!

Staff has always been friendly and considerate. The new self serve is great once you get it and take your time at first to understand it.

Completely ignorant and lousy employee! I asked how much it would cost me to send 3 items and the lady at the till refused to weigh them and and give me an answer until I had everything packed. After spending half an hour packaging everything in one box I was told it would be 47 pounds instead of 25 pounds if the 3 items had been packaged individually!! Complete waste of time for something I could have been told right away. Refuse to use this post office until they train their employees properly, stay away.

Great, knowledgeable and hardworking staff but nowhere near enough of them‼️ Also, I don’t see why those buying foreign currency and shops cashing in their takings should be given priority‼️I have often waited 20 minutes and longer to be served‼️This is not acceptable‼️WH Smith which runs this operation should give more priority to its Post Office operation or give it up and let someone else do it‼️However, we all know that the Post Office is what keeps it afloat‼️‼️

I don’t agree with the overly negative reviews on here, they are most likely posted by exaggerating impatient customers who will have been there during a particularly busy period (say a Saturday or lunchtime) where a queue should be expected. Coming from a retail background myself, being nasty to staff will get you nowhere. Be nice to people and people will be nice back. Simple. I especially want to mention the lady (I’m not sure of her name) who helps out at the self service machines in the Churchill Square branch, as she is always so helpful and polite. I often go in on my lunch break to post a few things and am able to do so very quickly and easily with her help.

The post office needs more staff. Only seems to be one miserable person working. The self use is handy and not normally too busy. It gets really busy so I would avoid if you have the time.

The Churchill Square location often gets busy, but so does any large post office. I don't understand all the complaints here. You can't hire bucket loads of more staff just because you have the odd busy period. Staff have always been polite and efficient, which when busy is a miracle! Maybe just do them a favour and be prepared and don't expect them to do things they obviously couldn't do. And if you're nice to them, maybe they're more likely to be nice to you!!

Really great customer service from Sherley. She helped me choose the correct packaging of the products that I wanted to post and helped me with the self service kiosk, so I really appreciated her support. She is a real professional and very friendly. Thank you Sherley, I wish you all the best :)

Truly appalling service. If you are a business DO NOT USE DROP AND GO FACILITY AT THIS BRANCH!! parcels for 1st signed for were given to this branch at 1.40 PM and they left them in the bag unprocessed. I arrived a day later to be told they still had not been processed and dispatched even though I was assured they would be processed on the day they were given to this branch. The manager said Drop and Go must be given by 1 PM but the other member of staff stated they would be processed as they were received by 1.40 PM. Totally useless branch. If I had known they would have not been processed, I would have just stood there why they did them in front of me. You cannot rely on this office if you have a business and I do not recommend it.

Very central but due to the lack of nearby competition the service can be a bit slow. Not the fault of the staff whom I've always found to be very friendly and efficient. The introduction of a few self-service machines has made a huge difference. Easy access.

This branch is the epitome of what’s gone wrong with the post office. Someone at the top please do something about the following! 1. MORE STAFF! It’s the main P.O. for Brighton so why only ever two/three staff on? This causes long queues and very stressed customers 2. When the bureau de change counter is free, the teller can serve customers wanting other services. Some selfish people see this, and queue there, and always get served before everyone else. This needs to STOP! 3. Make your new technology fit for purpose. Instead of employing a guy to shout every few minutes to the queue, ‘anyone want to buy stamps from our self service’? After over a year of new self serve technology, you still can’t use the machines to obtain postal proof receipts?! This is what half the customers are there for!

Post office on Preston Drove, Fiveways. The owner is always very helpful, courteous and attentive. (I'm sorry but no way can I say that about the staff, as recently I was virtually ignored because they couldn't answer my question and were more concerned with serving the person behind me in the queue) The owner served me this morning around 08.30 with a "signed for " letter. (and they open around 07.30) You wouldn't be able to do that in WH Smith! Five stars if you are lucky enough to get there early when there's no queue and catch the owner.

The hiring of new staff has sped things up a bit. However, due to about 60% of the staff being rude, I avoid them and try and use the self service. The self service is too slow; you have to press many buttons and put in loads of details just to post one letter. Many find it confusing and need help from the poor staff member who mans it all day. If you go to the staffed counter services and they find you can use the self-service, they chastise you for not doing so and make you feel bad. The queues are often way too long unless you go very near closing time and this means missing the last post. I'd recommend using a different service like doddle to return your parcels. They're on Queens Rd and they're always polite and fantastic! However you can't post there using Royal Mail services. At last resort, try the PO on St James' Street. I only do this when desperate as it's out of the way for me. Royal Mail, please give your staff proper training, hire more of them, make the self-service easier to use and reduce your ridiculous postage costs (£2.00-£3.00 for one small parcel)... Additionally, people please stop establishing a separate queue for the bureau de change to get in front of others. There should be one queue. A better layout would help. I spend half my life queueing here.

Well today's experience was totally abysmal. The customer service was so totally lacking apart from the young man on the self service who actually tried to help and apologise for his colleagues. The counter staff were both surly and rude not just to me but to another customer and to an elderly and confused lady. All I can say is learn some basic manners and compasion on a human basic level not to mention improve your overall customer service. Very bad show and I hope WHS see this too as it reflects badly on them too!

Just walked home after being reduced to tears by one of the staff in there (male, white, long hair tied back). I printed off my own label via Royal Mail, the man said it didn’t scan so couldn’t process it. I asked him to simply print another as I had only printed myself an hour previously. Rudely told me that Royal Mail and post office were 2 different companies. It was like he was going out of his way to be unhelpful, didn’t suggest any other options or apologise. Had to walk it home (and i’m Visibly 8.5 months pregnant). Horrible horrible experience.

The poast office is inside the Churchill Square, underground level, in the shop of WHSmith. So instead of searching outdoor, remember to walk in the Churchill Square.

Don't bother with the phone number, went round in circles and disappeared up my own B*******. Don't want to travel to Brighton with the associated expenses without being sure the product I want is available. Waste of time.
