Never ever make the mistake of doing business with Countrywide or its affiliates such as "Spencers" agents. They are awful, incompetent and should be struck off for negligence

I am not a direct client of Countrywide but I'm in a chain of 9 properties that have been held up for severely due the the incompetence of the conveyancing dept at Countrywide. They are working for the client at the bottom of the chain. We have been going to exchange several times, several proposed completion dates have been missed and our buyers mortgage offer ran out because of problems caused by Countrywide. They were asking for enquiries/searches to be cleared when they had already been sorted and it turned out they'd been accessing the wrong clients file. When it came to the first time to exchange the client couldn't sign the document as it had the wrong name, wrong address and incorrect price on it. They now refuse to talk to the clients estate agents and will only use email, will not communicate with anyone else in the chain and will only talk directly to their client. Talking to several professionals in the industry they have a reputation for this sort of unprofessional behaviour. When I spoke to a building surveyor colleague who has 30 years in the industry regarding the issues we were having he just replied he was not surprised if Countrywide were involved. They have created so much stress for all the people involved in the chain who vary from new buyer through working families with children to elderly people downsizing and we've had to change exchange and completeion dates several times purely due to their lack of communication and incompetence.

I can only re-iterate what others have said. AWFUL company. They were sent to survey my house, which is currently under offer. Their surveyor trailed clumps of mud throughout my house, and was extremely rude to my neighbour & friend who asked what he was doing when he saw the surveyor hanging around in front of my house (our street has had a spate of burglaries recently, so we all look out for one another)! Countrywide agree to send me a cheque towards the cost of getting my carpets cleaned, and one month after they agreed to send this , I am still waiting. Absolutely horrible company with zero respect and regard for their customers. AVOID at all costs!

Awful! Just plain awful! Will never purchase a property again under this organisation, they steal your money, ignore all emails and calls, never follow through what they said they will do, have had ongoing issues for over 3 years that still have not been resolved! They do not care about their clients only the money. That bad if an organisation that over 3 years we have had 5 representatives for my area so there is such a frequent turnover! Avoid please! I dont know anyone that will recommend them! View there twitter profile to see the real truth on what people think of them ... even though they took my review off!

Going around in circles trying to get paid , We are a small cleaning company and are suffering as the letting agents did not raise a ticket for the works we undertook . They owe us in excess of £2K and have not yet paid , we invoice discount so we have financed the debt and now it has been reassigned . PLEASE PAY US

AVOID - they keep your deposit as long as they can even though landlord said to pay it back and they won't even care it's illegal.... just avoid at any cost. And no... don't tell me to get in touch so you can help me, because I have been emailing and Lucy from head office have been copied in many times and not once she replied, just let others to take the blame...ridiculous

I had an absolutely excellent experience of Countrywide. My mortgage broker was Lauren in Oxfordshire and she was incredibly clear, focussed, efficient and professional. I felt totally supported throughout the process, and she was an absolute star. Totally worth her weight in gold. I can't recommend Countrywide highly enough, and will be passing on Lauren's email address to absolutely anyone I know in need of a mortgage.

Quite possibly the worst company in the UK. They are our ‘property management’ company. We have had a leak in our flat for 4 years. It takes them 3 to 4 weeks to return your emails (if they do) they never return calls. All 3 owners of flats in our block have complained with various issues and we never get a reply. We have had scaffolding up for 9 months at the front of our house. They last contacted me 3 weeks ago to update me. The service is appalling and I can easily say it’s the worst service i have ever had from a company. I am now taking the drastic steps of putting this on their Facebook page, and I have just reported them to the property ombudsman. Do not bother with them, instead throw your money down the drain.

Unacceptable service all round. Made to wait weeks and weeks to get a deposit back which should have been returned within 2. Company never responded to emails nor recorded information properly. Time and again we were told the same lies. Eventually had to resort to legal advice to get them to wake up. Overall, complete lack of organisation and consideration. Would never ever use again.

I doubt that these people can even tie their own shoelaces. They consistently email us with incorrect details about our letting, to the point where we have to contact the Landlord directly to get the facts, and vice versa. These people are inept. All they are intrested in is extracting fees from us, without providing any form of service at all.

Never ever ever use these people. The incompetent surveyor who came round our house was so daft that although he came whilst we were at home, he then told the bank we were subletting. Meaning we missed our fixed rate and cost us hundreds and hundreds of pounds.
