If you have children, don't bother taking them there yet. The library has almost 1 million books, and there were exactly 32 available for kids under the age of 6, and just 3 shelves for all kids and teenagers. Of course current conditions mean that the full library can’t be open, but a shelf or two of more books wouldn’t go amiss, surely? Team on the door were friendly and helpful, but overall a disappointing trip.

What a library!!! From the outside architecture through the sections and books up to the skyline - amazing! Take the stairs and visit the "Shakespeare Memorial Room" or take a break and watch Birmingham in front of you! Go through the different exhibitions or dive into the books (additionally there are books offered for sale and one could probably find "next-book-to-read" Must see part of Birmingham!

The Library is a stunning modernist building and a public library to boot. It's free to enter and one I think levels 7 to 9 are roof gardens where you can step out and get amazing views of Birmingham and Centenary Square were it not currently under development. On the top floor is also views, but only behind windows. Here you'll also find a very special room, the Shakespeare Room. It's a wood-panelled room originally built to house Birmingham's Shakespeare collection, but rebuilt here in the city's new library. The facilities are also ultra modern with lots of computers, places to study and even private rooms for those who prefer quieter environments to study.

An amazing place to study, visit or research. Very modern, well organised and structured Library. The interior is amazing. There is a cafe on the ground floor. You can even catch views of the city from the upper levels by taking a stroll outside. Highly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic range of books, articles and other resources available - from school/uni books to fictional books to whatever other books you can think of and it all free to borrow! By far the biggest library in all of Birmingham and most definitely the best looking both inside and outside

Great tourist attraction...but I couldn't find the books I was looking for. There is not as much of a range as expected from such a big building.

I was with my girlfriend in Birmingham for short visit and it was a great chance to see and visit the library. It’s a very beautiful building from outside and from the inside it’s great place. So many great books that you can get for any research you just dream about it! And the great room of Shakespeare is just amazing!

Looks a fantastic building but unfortunately did not go inside. My wife was greeted by a member of staff at the front entrance , who was extremely rude and obnoxious. Very disappointed as this building had been recommended. Working in social care and my wife a nurse regrettably we feel a course in customer care would be beneficial for the staff

Awesome library especially the roof top garden visit is a must. Beautiful scenery with 360 view and its like a garden with benches so you can relax. There are two gardens one is situated in on the 7th floor and the other on the 9th floor. Lifts are slow and small so you may have to wait a while otherwise use the stairs.

This is a visually stunning new piece of architecture for Birmingham and Europe as it is one of the largest libraries on the continent. Beautiful array of gardens on the 4th and 7th floor. The Shakespeare Room at the top of the library is incredible and has been restored and moved from the original library. The upper floors have been designed to have an open mezzanine spanning several floors and is visually incredible. Definitely worth a visit and it is free. There is a café on the ground floor. Wheelchair accessible and friendly

Amazing architecture! Never had a chance to visit this architectural gem despite living just 5 miles away. Went there with my photography club mates and we all enjoyed every minute! We took a lot of pictures inside as well outside on the terrace - spectacular views from the terrace by the way!

The Library in Birmingham is pretty great. I came here a lot when I lived in Birmingham. The building is modern from the outside and from the inside. I really enjoyed drinking a coffee in the cafeteria or look over the city from the terace which is open to the public. Pretty impressive building. 5*

First time here and with limited time due to the time we arrived went to the children's area first. Following this went to the 9th floor for the Skyview. The view is brilliant especially in a clear day. You are able to see well into the distance. You also get a great view of all the work currently going on in Birmingham. Went to the 7th floor after to the Secret Garden. This is where you can get the same view but outside on the rooftop garden. Brilliant open top view. Will visit again when I have a bit more time but great first impression and visit

Great Piece of modern architecture, it's like a temple for books. Definitely worth a view also for tourists. From the roof garden there's a great view over Birmingham. In the top of the building you can visit Shakespeare's 'original' library.

An absolutely astounding library. The interior design was wonderful and so aesthetically pleasing. It was a great experience walking through all the way to the top. Unfortunately, my visit was cut short as the RAC service person got to my car earlier than anticipated (tyre got punctured) and called me back. I will definitely be visiting and showing the rest of my family when I am in Birmingham again. A true landmark, would recommend a visit.
