Wonderful place to find the book of your interest and read. Got the music practice room with a digital piano in the B2 level, which is for a price.

Much maligned architecturally (unfairly so, in my opinion), what this building does absolutely right is the function it was designed to do: be a library. Knowledgeable staff, perfectly laid out and a number of nooks and crannies to escape into for a read. Although I'd recommend the roof garden in the summer months.

Nice new building, but lacking in essential features like public toilets, and books. The book selection, both fiction and non-fiction, is essentially static and old.

The Library in Birmingham is definitely a Library like no other, it has a massive range of books and music to borrow or read inside the actual library itself with plenty of seating available. The library has three sighting points too, there are two terraces and one big glass window on the top floor so it can also be perfect photographers. Overall I would say that it is a great place to study as there is plenty of space and floors to explore the only downside is that it is not very easy to get to especially if you don't live in Birmingham.

I was in Birmingham for a weekend and paid a visit to the library. The building is gorgeous from the outside but if you are a big fan of books and libraries as I am, take some time to explore the place. It is huge and the studying area is super nice as well - if my local or my uni library were offered half of what the Library of Birmingham offers I would spend way more time studying :)

We visited the library to collect tickets for the rep theatre & were pleasantly surprised with the overall quality of service & the building. Especially the top floor which houses Shakespeares memorial room, with its beautiful wooden decor & stained glass roof & views over the city. There's also a cafe on the first floor.

Brilliantly modern. Probably the best library in europe if not the world.

This place is absolutely delightful. Huge 9 floor library, free membership and a sophisticated borrowing system. It also has a Muslim prayer room on the 2nd floor for gents and ladies! I was actually impressed by the security folks who told us how to explore the place - start at the 9th floor to vist the skyline, and work our way down to the other sights in the building... brilliantly architected and planned. Newcomers will need to spare at least an hour to explore this whole library

Very well organised. Clearly laid out with good signage and although many levels the escalators take away the hard work. The Story Steps for children is a nice touch. Useful cafe for having a break.

An impressive modern building. While it's open and airy, it doesn't feel to me like a welcoming or cosy space to read. Non-fiction resources are good, but the fiction leaves a lot to be desired. However, staff are always polite and helpful, and access to the technology provided is good.

I was awed by the size of this library. Especially places for people to use their laptop. The architecture is really beautiful and I can easily spend hours there.

Great library for long stay. How ever this can get very irritating if you're only there for shot trips, not much directions to where stuff is (e.g The computers) and the staff were quite moody

Undoubtedly the best place in Birmingham. Majestic, modern and kitschy. I have always left this place wanting to stay a little longer. The terrace offers a lovely view of the skyline.

Great place to study, there's group seating, plenty of IT facilities, soundproof rooms, loads of resources for all subjects and all levels of education. People are very respectful and mind their surroundings. It is very clean and modern with lots of natural lighting. It's a state-of-the-art library

The library of Birmingham is still in its early stage, so all resources that can get from this library are very limited. The books displayed on mandarin section were funny as majority of them were low graded romantic fiction. Apart from the main purpose of library, knowing the ideas and background knowledge on the construction of the whole building make me appreciate more during my visit, people put so much effort to keep the standard of ' The Green Library of Birmingham'. I love secret garden, it's a great place to chill out and clear your mind.

A wonderful library with plenty of space to sit, and a wide range of books to read and learn from. The only thing is, with a lot of the best books being reference books that cannot be checked out, it would have been nice to have longer opening hours, at least during the week. As a student this would also make travelling to the library more cost effective as I could get more done in a single day.

I am very appalled at the opening and closing hours, you open too late and close too early. The reason I think this is an issue is because most students and hard workers love the quiet environment and would prefer to study at the library rather then at home. I also suggest that the library should open on days like bank holidays which would be very helpful to all students like myself to come and study.

The best I saw in birmingham, if you like books, if not the views are great. Its a pity that it was windy and the terrace were close

Really lovely library. So many different floors. Great atmosphere and really good natural lightening. If you need a bit of fresh air there's a big balcony or even The Secret Garden's which have wonderful views of the surrounding Birmingham Scenery. Staff members were also very nice and helpful. Only probably is the timings not very suitable for a student who wishes to do long hours of revision.

A great place spatially in a fantastic central location. All the facilities you need from a modern library. The Shakespeare Memorial Room on the top floor is a specially nice feature, with nice views over the city. It's a crying shame that it's not opened 7 days a week and for longer hours.

Beautiful building inside and out, the gardens on the terraces in particular are well worth visiting, as well as the Shakespeare room and the skyline view. There are also lots of places to study quietly inside and a nice cafe to use as well.

One of the best libraries I've ever been. The children's library is fantastic, highly recommended their babies 'Stay & Play' activities if you are new in town and have a babe. There you can meet other mums and dads and your children have lots of fun. Don't forget to visit the Secret Garden on the 7th floor.

Perhaps one of the greatest public buildings that Europe has seen built for at least a decade. It does everything a library should as well as being an inspiring and superbly designed building which empowers both local people and visitors . It really does make you feel proud to be a citizen of Birmingham. I agree with others on the need for longer and weekend opening times, the reduction of hours was an abysmal policy decision, BUT will be rectified soon. Fingers crossed!!
